T'keal smiled as he finished putting away all delicate, personal, or valuable items away in a locked chest next to his sleeping alcove which he curtained off.
Sometime in the next twenty minutes or so, people would begin arriving. Pretty girls who'd managed to get a ride up to his Weyr(one of many that was only accessible by Dragonwing), dragonriders from every Wing, though most especially the three top wings, hopefully the bronze rankers from his own wing, and anyone else who would be useful to know.
T'keal wasn't stupid. Brownriders weren't allowed to be openly powerful, and no matter how smart they were, or how hard they worked. The best he could hope for would to be a Senior Wingsecond, of a top three Wing, have a pretty girl or three, and have lots of children. If he was content to not look powerful on the outside however, T'keal could become a leading force in the Weyr.
He could attract a Goldriding Mate, have enough blackmail that no Bronzerider would dare to threaten him, and be set for life, and he wanted that. He could become part of the process of running the Weyr, decide policy, share in the glory of Igen, even if he was the only one to know.
And thus, the weekly informal parties were the norm with T'keal, and considering he'd just moved, as to be closer to his new Wing, an informal housewarming was just perfect. Celebration and power gathering all mixed into one nice little party.
There was wine of several vintages(T'keal had several contacts who supplied with with fine wines, and several other drinks for his help in transporting items), ice from High Reaches chilling it, as well as fruit juice, chilled as well. There were delicate appetizers, though no real food- if they wanted that, they could head down to the Lower Caverns, though they'd not get items like this down there.
Small, hot pies, decorated carefully, chilled Nerat fruit, picked merely an hour or two ago, slim slices of grilled herdbeast, peppered with spices from Igen, with sweets garnishing pretty little plates(both glass and wood) with a tablecloth a splash of several colors.
Their were chairs, and large pillows for sitting on, or, if you were a pretty girl(Or boy, some riders preferred them after all) for lounging on, all decorated tastefully, but with colors bright and cheerful.
T'keal smiled at his welcoming weyr, took a glass of white wine, and settled down on a large golden pillow, and waited for someone to arrive, pondering if he would win a few marks off of dragon poker that evening.

K'nor had heard about T'keal's little get together he had Kintrath drop him off, he was going to enjoy this should be fun. Once he was there he wondered about what was going to happen now, he saw the Brownrider and greeted him.
"My duty to you and Fadreith." He said with a grin and salute he hoped his son wouldn't make it up here.

T'keal raised his glass as K'nor send his well wishes toward him and his Fadreith.
"And to you as well, Weyrling Master," the Brownrider replied cheerfully. "How are the scamps treating you?"
Scamps was, perhaps, a slightly disrespectful word to use about Weyrlings, but from what T'keal knew of them, almost all weyrlings were, and would be scamps. Not that he had a problem with them, as they were most certainly useful when he needed something fetched, or help fixing harness.
He waved at hand at the table of food and drink, and smiled. "Take whatever you want, and come sit over here. I'm sure you've got a few good stories to cheer me up after hauling all of my stuff to this side of the Weyrbowl."

"Well lets see, the scamps are well enough the newest bunch are giving me a headache two bronzeriders in the same clutch is a bit to much for even me." He smiled though both riders and dragons were good at what they were doing and he hoped they would continue to do as he expected them.
"I wonder if I'll ever have to teach a gold weyrling, I enjoyed teaching Jen she was alright but I would like to see if it happens again like that." K'nor smiled and took a seat nearby he also poured a glass of wine. He hoped things were going to be fun here he enjoyed get togethers it helped remind those who had responsibilities about those who had them.

"Are the two bronzeriders easier or harder on you than Jenafa was?" The Weyrling Master might know the Junior Weyrwoman well enough to get away with calling her by her nickname, but T'keal was well aware that he was an unranked Brownrider, and it would be idiotic to call her that. Not if he ever wanted to be more than a Wingrider that was.
"And may we be blessed with another Queenrider. Not that two of them aren't enough, but you can never have to many." Besides, everyone knew that Igen was superior to the other Weyrs- have three Queens would merely show case that fact more clearly. And they had the space for at least for- and with thread coming soon, they'd need the new Queen.
"Have you met any of the new crop of Candidates yet? Saharth is due to rise any week now, and someone decided to Search a new crop of girls." A slow grin grew on T'keal's face. "Not that I'm complaining- our Searchriders have impeccable taste."

"Harder they tend to bicker with each other, why can't they learn to get along like so many of the Blueriders do." He was pleased that things were going well for the clutchmate rider of his brothers dragon, N'tan and his brown had been doing well enough.
"Yes I met one girl her name was Laszreen, my son Kanit is also standing again." K'nor said as he looked at the brownrider he wondered about whether or not he would take the proposal to be an assistant. He was probably happy as a wingrider for now, K'nor would bide his time and see what happened from here out if he found a different rider then perhaps things would be different if not then K'nor would deal with it.
{Mine, a Weyrling has eaten to much and His is confused what do I tell them?} The bronze asked His as the rider was busy the dragon was watching the Weyrlings. K'nor sighed and looked towards Kintrath he hated moments like this, when the weyrlings did something he had already taught them not to.
{Have him watch the dragonet make sure it doesn't get constipated and also MAKE the dragonet rest.} K'nor told the bronze he was trying to relax not worry about the kids but he had to do something every time they did something they weren't suppose to.
"Sorry had a Weyrling that allowed his dragon to over eat." K'nor told T'keal by way of explaination, he hoped that was enough and he didn't have to explain more than that.

"Because the bluerider's won't be vying for Wingleader positions in a few turns." T'keal replied honestly, with only a touch of wry humor in his voice. "But I agree, one bronze a clutch with several Browns must work much better."
Kanit he knew, the boy had been trying to Impress for several turns, but Lazsreen was a new name. He thought he could place her though- brought in by a Green, which meant she wasn't just Searched for her looks, though she looked quite nice- small, brunette.
Hopefully she wouldn't Impress, and he'd have a change to get to know her in a personal manner. They didn't usually bring any as small and lithe as her, which made her on the top of his list- if Saharth didn't clutch a Gold, but it wasn't likely she would. You never knew though- that was what was so exciting about watching a Queen clutch.
When K'nor's eyes glazed and looked a little unfocused, T'keal refrained from speaking, allowing the man to give his dragon undivided attention. It was only polite, after all.
After the explanation of why his dragon was contacting him, T'keal shook his head slowly.
"Weyrlings." He said in a long-suffering voice. He might not directly work with Weyrlings, but they were constantly being tapped and brought into a Wing, and then you had to train them. And Brownriders- rankless or not- were usually considered the most competent to get them up to speed. He'd only been a mentor a few times, but it had been more than enough.

"Yes they can be pains on occasion I try to train them for the wings as best I can." K'nor grinned he was pleased taht he could talk to another rider about things like the frustrations of them. This seemed to be an easy going concersatoin, he wondered if the rumors about Telgar having a Pregnant weyrling were true. They maybe rivals but he would loath to have to deal with a weyrling who was carrying child, he hated to have to deal with Healers most were very particular about their charges.
"Did you hear the rumors that Telgar has to deal with a Pregnant weyrling? I know that we dislike each other but still I would hate to deal with that." K'nor thought about that and hoped that T'keal wouldn't be arrogant about this.

There were so many places she would have preferred to be going to than this party. Larissa's friends insisted she come with them and being as they were so serious they threatened tying her up and forcing her with them, she decided it was best that she go for at least a little while. The beauty was wearing a gift from her father, it was a deep red and cut to the form of her body. She knew that this was not going to go well for her.
Men were shy around her for the most part and she was quiet with everyone to some extent. Her mother would be glad she was at a party thrown by a dragonrider. After all she wanted her provided for by a man of rank. Rank was all that mattered to her mother. Larissa personally could care less. She did value her own purity more than bagging a Bronzer.
The dragon that was carrying them was REdella's current boyfriend's Brown. He was going to take Larissa up first with her other friend Ivany. Larissa was not one to be rude so when they did arrive on the ledge she thanked the dragon and his rider for the ride up. Little had she known that they would be the first women to enter the weyr. Neither of them moved for a moment, taking in the decor and the placement on all the furniture. Larissa, with a graceful step forward, managed to move first. This was her first party in a long long time. She only hoped the men weren't too pushy.

"Well hello, I'm K'nor rider of Bronze Kintrath." He rose and smiled at the woman she was lovely though not the same as some of the Drudges he had slept with in his time. He knew her from the Lower Caverns the times he went to seek out a partner after losing a flight. He waited to see how T'keal would respond to the woman who was the host of this party.

"Thankfully we'll never need to deal with that." T'keal responded, and look of horror crossing his face. Of all the foolish things Telgar could do, that had to top the list. It wasn't bad enough they had to allow female on Fighting Dragons when Thread was to start falling soon, but they had to let ones that were already pregnant Impress.
Shaking the repugnant feeling that had accompanied that particular statement, T'keal was pleased when a blond haired beauty and her friend stepped into his weyr.
As was proper for a Host, he jumped up; made a deep bow to both of them, smiling without any indication of the thoughts he had about the rather fine drudge girl who had just entered his weyr.
He didn't think he'd ever seen her before, and wished he had.
"Hello Ladies- I'm T'keal, and I'll be making sure you both have a wonderful time tonight. Now, for the mere price of your names, I'll serve you up anything you'd like to drink."
If they were like most Ranker seeking chits, they'd both go for the WLM decide which he wanted, and the other would then seek him out. T'keal didn't have a problem with that- after all, he would have done the same thing had he been a woman.

Kiaran was annoyed. Actually, annoyed was far too mild a word to describe how she felt. Somehow, she had allowed someone to talk her into attending this party, and even agreed with her friend that she promised that she would wear a feminine skirt and shirt and be pretty. Of course, she privately did not think it was possible that she could be pretty, but she could dress like "a girl." She checked herself in the mirror and felt absolutely ridiculous.
She'd gotten a ride with her older brother, who had told her she looked beautiful and had been rewarded with a smack on the back of his head and informed, "I don't need you flattering or lying to me. But thank you."
The Assistant Headwoman was pretty sure that she had not been asked to this party as a pretty thing, but rather because she had rank. Not as much as some, but more than many. She rolled her eyes as she dismounted Kineth and thanked him and her brother for the ride.
"Try not to break any hearts tonight, Kia." That comment, delivered with apparent sincerity, though Kiaran thought it was a rather dimglow thing to say, earned her big brother a glare that many had learned to fear. In return, he rolled his eyes at his younger sister and shrugged, "At least try to have some fun, ok?"
"I'll try. I'll at least try not to need you to take me home early." She smiled to him. "I promise."

The Weyrlingmaster greeted them first and while she had nothing against being nice to rankers, Larissa wasn't here to sleep with one. Her mother would be mortified that she had even thought that. After all the time she had spent schooling them on how to get ahead in life, it was wasted. When the host also stood and greeted them, Larissa realized how incredibly akward it was being the first girls to arrive. From now on she would be late. Then no one would notice her coming or going.
Larissa heard Redella start, "I'm Redella..." The blonde woman remained somewhat shy so the dark haired woman added, "And this is Larissa." As she spoke she nudged her friend gently. Smiling sweetly, Larissa stepped forward a bit more. "It is a pleasure to meet you both. Do you have white wine by any chance?" She didn't bother making a distinction other than white. The wine they got was generally from Benden.
Redella's boyfriend, who's dragon finally landed him on the ledge came up behind her and slipped an arm around her shoulders. "Heya, T'keal. Red and I wouldn't mind whatever you have. Never been picky." He grinned and took in the decor much like everyone else.
Hoe had she been convinced to come here. Already she felt out of place. Larissa was uncomfortable in situations where she actually had to talk to people she didn't previously know in a place that was not normal for her to be in, like this weyr. She had no way of leaving without a dragon. Well, that pretty much meant she was stuck here till someone decided to take her home and dragonriders would take that the wrong way.
When the Asisstant Headwoman arrived, Lara let out a sigh of relief, back up was here. At least she knew Kiaran would never let her get into a bad situation. "Kiaran. I didn't know you were coming. Its good to see you." The Blonde turned smiling at her friend and her mother's assistant.

Kia's first thought on seeing Lara was something along the line of, "Shells, if someone takes advantage of her, her father will have my hide before her mother can. Even if she consents and is happy." The next thought was that Larissa had no more desire to be at the party than she did herself. Well, together, the two could probably manage to have a good time and be safe. Though it did mean that Kiaran could not take advantage of any interest if the impossible happened, but she would be fine.
"Hey, Lara. Yeah, I got talked into coming." She grinned warmly to her. "I'm surprised to see you here." And she was. While Kia might occassionally enjoy a Bronzer and consider a Brown Rider - though it was rare since she was picky and not remotely interested in any entanglements - she knew why a pretty woman would be invited to this party and knew Larissa would avoid that.
She moved over to her, glancing at her brother to make sure he'd know to help her get Lara out if needed. He half sighed but nodded. "You all right?" She asked the question quietly, so only Larissa would hear it.

T'keal bowed, and choose the finest bottle of white he had, pouring carefully. He wasn't an overeager Weyrling, to fill up a glass to high, in attempts to make a girl drunk- instead, he went for the exact amount that was proper to be in a glass, and poured in some red, passing the glass to the Brownrider, and handing the glass over to the blond Larissa.
When Kiaran entered, T'keal flashed another smile over her way. It was always better to have more girls than guys(for the guys at least), and having a pretty Assistant Headwoman join in was very good for his party.
"And what will you have to drink, my dear Kiaran? We have several nice vintages of everything, as well as juice. Of several sorts." T'keal was an overachiever. Especially when it came to nice things.
Besides, he was happy Kiaran had come. He’d invited her before, leaving the invitation open to whenever she wanted to come, but this was the first time she’d actually ventured up to one of his parties.
