Rona walked into the hall, her long black hair parted down the middle and placed in a coil on her head, held there by a beautiful gold pin, a few wisps curled about her face. Her trousers were of clean linen, leather brown boots came to her knees, her white tunic was tucked smartly into her trousers. Her boot heels thumped onto the stone, her eyes shone cleverly in her oval face as they quickly glanced around, observing anyone that happened to be there. She went up and got some warm Klah, some bread and some cheese, and a piece of fruit. She sat on a bench, with her meal and held the klah in her hands, warming them. Her long slender fingers embraced the ceramic mug. She sipped it cautiously, blew on the liquid and sipped again, her eyes staring at some far off thing, idea or memory. Rona was actually thinking of the essence of art and literature, and creation itself. Was creation the meaning of life? did we live to put forth metaphorical children of our own? These thoughts filled Rona as she chewed on the crusty delicious bread.

Ph'yn was wearing his leathers, the knots denoting that he was a Weyrling. Approaching the Pyralis table was not something he looked forward to doing but he was trying to find his brother. Seeing a younger woman seated there who was obviously a rider, he walked over. "Excuse me, wingrider. I was wondering if you have seen my brother. He recently joined Pyralis Wing." He paused noting the girl's large eyes and lovely skin tone. She should know his brother. P'len had always been good with women.
"His name is P'len." Ph'yn added then thought she would probably know him better by his dragon or maybe she had no idea who he was talking about. "He rides Bronze Nargoth." Still thinking of ways to describe him he wondered if he should wake Ganymeth for this? No no, the dragon would be peeved. The Bronze was tired after flying lessons today.
"I'm being such an oaf. Sorry. I'm Weyrling Ph'yn of Bronze Ganymeth." He was not good at formalities sometimes. HE had been looking for his brother for almost a candlemark to no avail and finally decided to ask a Pyralis rider. Well at least he knew they were not having drills.

Rona looked up at whoever had dared to disturb her thoughts to see the young weyrling. Oh, just some kid. Around her own age. Weyrling? He was darker than she was, and his eyes were green. Almost the same height as she was. He was a handsome young man. "OH! I know who you're talking about." The womanizer with the gray eyes. Ugh. Why did their family impress bronzes, it only increased a man's ego to have high ranking dragons. "I don't know him very well. So I couldn't tell you." she said, not being rude, she deplored rudeness, but still being short. "I am Wingrider Rona of Green Taelith" she added, again, so as not to be rude. If he was well mannered and had a good sense of humor and kept it in his pants then she could be friends with him. He seemed at least of good humor. She was pretty sure she had seen him around, however, she had stayed pretty distant from most people since she got to the weyr a couple years ago.

Ph'yn took her words in stride. Pyralis riders were known to be a bit moody anyway though P'len was obviously an exception in Ph'yn's mind. At least his brother had been invited into one of the best wings at Telgar. Maybe they could be in the same wing though he rather doubted it.
"Thank you for your time, Rider Rona. I may have to wake Ganymeth after all." He shook his head knowing the Bronze was going to threaten to flame him for waking him up. Then he would have to deal with him all night cause he wouldn't go back to sleep. Which of course would lead to Ph'yn not sleeping and getting in trouble during lessons when he did. A vicious cycle he had no intention of bringing upon himself. Maybe he should try to find his weyr.
"Hmm. Maybe I should just wait. I'm not disturbing you am I?" Ph'yn asked. He probably was but she seemed nice enough not to kick him out of the Pyralis wing tables. He sat down across from the greenrider. She didn't look like she wanted company, especially of the male sort.

Rona inwardly sighed, but she remembered Taelith admonishing her last night, 'you have to make a friend eventually. Be nice.' 'I'm always nice' 'yea, as nice as nettles' 'ugh...' 'you're lonely and you know it, just at least make some aquaintances, I'm going to rise soon and I want to flirt a little first, how am I supposed to do that if you're with me ALL THE TIME. by the egg, no male will want to fly me with such a taciturn rider.' 'fine, I'll try' "there's nothing to disturb." It wasn't too hard to be nice, just stop acting like a cornered feline..."You are welcome to sit here." She said with a small tilt of the corners of her mouth. "may I enquire as to why you're looking for your brother?" She was trying to make conversation, she still remembered how, she just was fed up with most people. They ended up annoying her within five minutes, so self righteous or boastful, whereas Rona felt pride for her accomplishments and her pride was her own. This bronze weyrling seemed nice enough. So Rona gave a smile of her dazzling white teeth in companion to the question.

He smiled, "Thanks. I don't normally sit at the Wing tables. I am supposed to be over there with the Weyrlings." Ph'yn spoke as if that were fine with him. He was not so high and mighty that he could not eat with his own. "I have a question for him about Ganymeth."
Ph'yn hoped she would not take offense that he thought his brother could give better advice than she could. He could still tell her the problem but he doubted she would know what to do about it. "Well, the Weyrlingmaster has forbidden us to use certain techiques until we are more mature. Ganymeth has it in his head that we can fly however we want to and that he can handle anything. Typical Bronze." Ph'yn shook his head. "Its just hard to fight him all the time and I was looking for advice from P'len since Nargoth probably went through this at some point."
Ph'yn hoped that explained enough. Though most would tell him to ask another Bronzerider. He really didn't like many Bronzeriders, which may be for the best. "I don't think the other Bronzeriders would talke to me without being condescending." Ph'yn hated being talked down to. She was pretty when she smiled but Ph'yn still had a turn of Weyrling training to go. Celibacy really was a curse.

"Oh..." said Rona. When she was wrong, she was wrong. A bronzerider that didn't like other bronzeriders? By the egg! Did he not care about rank? Sincerely? Perhaps Rona was too quick to judge. She hated when Taelith was right. She knew as a rider she should say something. "Taelith once tried to be too acrobatic in the air and she almost shook me off, the straps on the saddle were almost snapped off! She's such a show-off." she said with a grin "greens." Rona shrugged. She realized it was possible that Ph'yn was the same age as her. "I would say if you as a rider aren't confidant in what you're doing, don't do it. you're wise in your choice, Ganymeth may respect the advice of an older Bronze dragon." Rona smiled and took a gulp of klah. "I'm the first to disregard advice if condescension is involved. It just makes me too angry to pay attention to it"

"As Ganymeth would say, she should show off her agility. Greens are known for it." Ph'yn smiled. "He really doesn't understand consequences but I suppose thats our job. To keep them out of trouble. I just get tired of having to be the voice of reason." In truth old Ph'yn the weyrbrat would not have worried about consequences either but with his dragon's life on the line he had to be somewhat concerned.
"I can't imagine she wanted you to fall off but dragons do have a hard time thinking about the future. Their minds seem only able to handle the present and very big events in their past. Much like little children. Makes you not want to have any children thinking about it like that..." Ph'yn was a talker, always had been. He was so easy with people that he had no trouble making friends.
With a quick glance down the table when he saw some movement he said, "Well taking criticism is not my strong point either, especially from adults. Advice is better when its said from a friend to a friend because then you know they are truly looking out for you." That was why he needed P'len. They were not just brothers, they were best friends. Nargoth and Ganymeth were going to best friends too when they got over their Bronze egos.

Rona nodded her assent. She ripped a piece of bread off with her fingers and chewed on it while listening to him, she hoped he didn't think it rude, she was starving. She took a sip of klah, it was cooler now. "my old ladyholder used to criticize me all the time," Rona said "she was a loathsome witch" It had slipped out without her realizing it. There it was looming like that moment in between where you think perhaps you might get stuck there. It was showing a little bit more than she would have wanted upon first meeting someone. She could never say the right thing, could she? she couldn't just sit around and talk about the weather, or ask him how weyrling training was going for him, how long it had been since he had impressed. No, she had to start off with a blatant social suicide attempt. Was she really this out of practice, or had she always been this awkward? she wondered.

"Holders are not known to be understanding." Spoken like a true Weyr bred boy. His family had been connected with the Weyr for generations, what would he really know about the Holds? If she wanted to meet someone who was a real critic, she should meet his grandfather. If you didn't rider Bronze then you were not fit to live. Ph'yn's parents were both drudges but Grandfather was a Bronzerider who had only begun to take any interest in him and P'len when it came time for the Hatchings. Now that the boys had impressed Bronzes he wanted a relationship. He was not a good man.
"I would think that anyone in power is likely to abuse that power now and again..." A Lady Holder would probably take out inner frustrations on drudges. "Well now that your at the Weyr the only people who get to criticize you are your Wingleader, Wingsecond, Wingthird, Weyrleader, Weyrsecond, Senior Weyrwoman, Junior Weyrwoman and even at times the Headwoman..." That sure made everything sound so much better.

Rona laughed out loud "Is that all?" Her grin spread out her face nicely, her lips parting to reveal her neat white teeth and petal pink tongue. "At least they don't throw plates at me!" she said cheerfully. "Besides, what beats flying eh?" she wondered what did beat flying, she hadn't had sex since before she had flown on Taelith, though before she would have thought sex was the best thing that the body could do. Flying Taelith--she would be rising soon, and Rona would most likely be unable to resist. Not that she really wanted to. She was becoming more physically tense as the days progressed. Too bad this boy was a weyrling. At any rate, she hoped that he found his brother soon, Taelith couldn't nap forever... on second thought she probably could. Taelith was a queen if ever a green was one. Vain little thing. She loved falling asleep in the sun.

"Flying is indeed great." Ph'yn nodded and glanced about. Where was his brother??! Well whenever Genymeth decided to join the living he would be able to find him. No doubt they were flying a green or talking to the Wingleader. Something important. Rona was being pleasant though and Ph'yn was more than happy to make a new friend.
"Flying could only be better if my dragon would listen to reason." Since Ph'yn was sooo good at doing that himself. Ganymeth was much like him when he didn't have the responsibility of looking out for their lives. If it was not dangerous the dragon probably would not want to do it. However the worst they could do to Ganymeth was to ground him. The worst they could do to him would be extra everything... Oh he loathed chores. Now that he was a Weyrling he had less of them but if he was in trouble. He could only imagine being given the worst, smelliest and most tedious chores there were.

"pfft. Reason." she said sarcastically with a jibing smirk. "Taelith is so ready to be flown she's driving me up the wall. Always flirting and showing off." Taelith was ready to be flown, that would explain why Rona had been so lonely and horny lately. She couldn't stand it, by the time Taelith was flown Rona would be just as excited for it as she was.

He laughed. "Greens love to show off most of the time so not to worry, that will never change. She is right to be excited about her mating flight. It gives her status as an adult green. She is a bit late you know." Ph'yn knew that much.
Greens usually mated at one and a half turns not over two. This could just be because the rider was not sexually mature enough or ready to deal with the emotions and so the green held back. He hoped Rona was not holding Taelith back too much. Greens were so much fun to watch being the most agile of the dragons.
"You should be. It is supposed to be fun and part of your life as a greenrider. Most people like switching up their partners but a few greenriders settle with one other rider. It isn't so bad either way. I guess it would depend on the personality of the rider and dragon." Ph'yn had no desire to settle any time in the near future. He loved women and he could love more of them if he stayed free.

P'len was in an excellent mood. Nargoth was clean, and had improved with the practice they both got in the Wing. P'len was also clean, which was a very good thing, and he'd finally put on the new leather's a very beautiful girl had been convinced to make for him in honor of joining a Wing.
Sauntering into the Weyrhall, aware that while many of the members of the Weyr had already finished eating, those who remained, and were young and female(and more than a few who were male, but P'len ignored them) were taking in his appearance with some soft giggles, and a lot of notice.
When he appeared at the table for Pyralis, however, his brother and a Greenrider who looked vaguely familiar were speaking. P'len frowned, and took a seat across from them, snagged a roll from the center of the table, and waited for a drudge to come bring him something(another thing he really liked about being a Bronzerider in a real Wing- girls wanted to be noticed by him, so they did lots of nice things for him).
"I'm guessing that at least one of you wants to talk to me." He commented, wanting to interrupt the conversation, just in case it was private. Or maybe because while his brother was his best friend, it was still weird to see him at his Wing Table.
