Karl walked his undersized runner into the stables. He didn't bother taking off his dark blue leather riding jacket yet as he had other things to attend to. He lead the runner to a stall and quickly took his gear off her, hanging it up. He then proceeded to give the runner a rubb down after making sure she something to eat.
Well, I'm here. Better report in after getting Spud tended to. Just have to find where to report.

Venaru wasn't often out of the lower cavrens. She had a lot of running around for her mistress, the Headwoman of Telgar Weyr. She was just a protoge, a young woman being trained to one day replace her. . . That day couldn't come soon enough, though Venaru was capable of being patient. Today it was just getting too stuffy in there. She had to sneak away, and once she was sure she wouldn't be missed, the Headwoman's assistant slipped away, and out side, where there was fresh air.
She wandered around outside, her loose flowy gown was not quite her style. She liked heavier, richer fabrics or something that clinged to her soft, womanly curves. But today, she had to agree that the dress sort of took to the breeze most becomingly. She wandered a little before coming to the stable. She had seen some one go in there and she leaned into the doorway, her hands holding the edge and her face poking in. A man she did not recognise was putting a small runner to stall. Venaru was curious. It wasn't every day they got a newcomer, or a visitor she met.
"Hello." She said from the threshold, now making herself more visible. Venaru hoped she wouldn't have scared him, but she wouldn't be displeased if she did. People were so funny, especially startled.

Karl looked over toward the door when he heard Venaru. "Hi. Hope I didn't break any rules in stabling Spud myself. Didn't see anyone here and I know what is usualy done. Oh, should introduce myself. Karl, journeyman Harper, newely posted to here."
Karl figured the young woman was one of the weyr inhabitants. He slipped off his jacket and tossed it over onto his pack in the corner. "Just got here. Need to report in. You know where I should go to do so?" He figured he might as well get it out of the way.

Venaru eyed him up a little. Her first impression was pretty bland, she didn't really know what to think of him, really. Venaru thought maybe the stable master, or rather, the resident beastcrafter was supposed to take care of that. She wasn't really familiar with the live beasts of the Weyr, only what heppened to them once butchered. She shrugged, "I won't tell on you." Secretly she added to herself, unless it benefits me.Her brow raised a little, a harper, huh? They were usually interesting characters. "Greetings Karl, I'm Assistant Venaru."
Venaru crinkled her nose a little as he just tossed his things in the dusty corner where animals probably pissed. Or she assumed, this was a stinking animal pit, and she was never fond of stench or taking care of animals. She was rather high maintenence and very hygenic. "I think you might want to see the Headwoman, or even the Weyrwoman. Though the latter might be too busy. I'd suggest seeing the Headwoman, and I think I can arrange that."
She looked at him again. He was kind of cute, kinda, and must have had some ambition. Unlike the lazy lumpy excuses for men around the lower cavrens. Yes, new blood would fill the serving girls with excitment for a few sevendays.

Karl shrugs. "Sounds like a good idea to me and thanks. Never been here before. Could you give me directions on where I might find her? Unless you would like to guide me to her yourself."
Karl walks over and retrieves his coat and pack. He also retrieves his traveling harp which had been hidden behind the pack. It had been a long ride and the sooner he had a place to rest, the better. It looks like I'm going to be the stranger of the sevenday. Hope it passes.

Well, Venaru hadn't really wanted to give up her new found freedom just yet. However, if the Headwoman had started to look for her, she would have a legimate excuse. Venaru sighed, she supposed it was time to go back in anyway. A dusty old stable wasn't exactly her style. The turned abruptly and pushed off from the corner of the doorway, starting her way back to the Weyr.
The young woman looked over her shoulder after about ten feet and then waved him to follow her, "Well, come on now, the Headwoman is a very busy woman, and we must catch her at exactly the right time."
(We can continue here, or we could start a different thread with the Headwoman-whom I can contact to tell her about the thread. She could even just post inhere, too.)

Karl smiles. "Lead the way. Sooner the better. An I'm sure she usualy is busy." He slings his pack and coat over his shoulder and carefully carries his harp under one arm. He takes carefull note of the layout of the weyr as they head on. "Never been in a weyr before. Hopefully I will be able to learn my way around quick enough."

Venaru smiled gently and turned again towards the Weyr. "Most people do, I did. Just depends on your willingness to adapt. As a harper, I'm willing to bet you are very good at adaptation." She had been holdbred, but assimilated quite nicely to Telgar Weyr. She now had some rank, some future, even if it wasn't in riding.
((Sorry, I've been out for a while. I think Dreamer is still out, probably do another thread in the kitchens/lower cavrens))
