Anistora found herself sitting out in the summer sun not far from the lake at the end of the Weyr Bowl. She had on some pants that had been cut off above the knee to work as makeshift shorts along with a tank top who’s straps had been tied to make the shirt fit a little better. Even so, she loved the had-me-downs and she had a feeling she wouldn’t be ready to replace the shirt as it had been her mothers not long ago.
Like any dragon, Anistora liked to be in the sun herself, thus why she had found herself there today. Unlike every other time she came to the lake to just spend time in the sunshine, it wasn’t raising her spirits this time. Her father was finally healthy again, but he was healthy in body not in spirit and she could tell without even being in the same room. She couldn’t blame him though, she missed mom and Ancanis as well.
Pulling her knees up to her chin, Anistora wrapped her slender arms around her legs and buried her face in her knees. The sun was warm on her back and it helped, even if just a little bit.

Elirian had escaped the careful eye of his foster mom. It was an amazing, brave feat of him, or so he proudly thought, since every one would be sick with worry. Well, some people would be sick with worry. Elirian had the urge to go outside and to breath in the fresh air and see the sky and touch the earth. He was not dressed in rags or hand-me-downs, rather play clothes of grey and brown material. They were wearing, to be true, but they had been made for him-on commission from his mother. They were wearing in some parts, mainly the knees of his pants. Though the tunic was in decent shape yet, if maybe a little dirty.
He was wandering around outside, knowing he did not have much time before his foster mother, or some nannies scoured the out doors to find him. That was when he happened upon Anistora. She was a nice girl- of the best kind, to be sure. Elirian thought she looked a little sad sitting there, with her face in her knees. He could not exactly understand her greif, for while his father was sent away to Ista, he knew that the man was alive out there some where, but she could never get her mother back.
The six turn old boy walked up to Anistora and said with sympathy in his voice, "Aw, An, what's the matter?"

Hearing a familiar voice, Anistora lifted her face and sniffed once before wiping a single tear off her cheek. Instantly she recognized the young boy, Elirian and she gave him the best smile she could manage at the time. It, however, didn’t last long.
“I just miss my family.” she answered softly, resting her head on her knees again though this time with the side of her head as she continued to look at the smaller boy. Watching him a moment her mind returned to her and she gave the boy another small grin. “What are you doing out here without a tag-along adult?”

Elirian saw the tear, but looked away, not wanting her to feel embarassed. He sat next to her, knowing what it was like to loose a parent. But she also lost siblings, he didn't have any of those, other than his foster ones. He supposed they were as real as any. His bosom brother almost died with the sickness, but he had prevailed. "I miss my dad sometimes too." Elirian decided then that he was growing out of calling D'rian 'daddy' now.
When she grinned at him, he couldn't help but giggle, "I left them. They won't be too far behind. But I wanted to loose them for a bit." Anistora wouldn't rat on him if he got back before they found him. "Why are you all by yourself. Just 'cause your nine doesn't give you the right to do whatever you want, doncha know."

At the mention of Elirian missing his dad, Anistora nodded. She knew he was trying to understand how she was feeling, and it made her feel better. Deciding to try to stay onto happier topics, she was glad when he giggled.
“Good job at sneaking out.” She said, her smile slowly brightening. As young as she was, it didn’t take too much to cheer her up. Besides, she was glad to hear of any of her friends accomplishments and she counted Elirian as one of them despite their age differences.
“My dad was asleep.” She answered the smaller boy, “And besides, I’m not alone, Eznorth is watching me.” With that, she looked up to her fathers weyr and pointed out the bronze resting in the sun. Sure enough the large eyes were resting upon the two children. Giving the bronze a wave, she looked back at the younger boy.
“I have to admit though, its no fun sneaking off when there is only one person keeping an eye on you. Especially when dad doesn’t always seem to be himself anymore.” With that she couldn’t help but give out a slight sigh.
