Janesa was feeling charitable and had ordered dinner in her office for her family, which consisted of her lovely son, J'var, Janirsa, and Larissa. No ex hubby, no one's friends, no assistant. Just family. The green firelizard had put her in a considerable good mood. She was actually smiley, and in a genuine matter. No sarcasm here. The dinner was nice, and it was actually pleasant to have supper with her family.
It was at the end of the supper and conversation was quite bubbly, Janesa even got a nice bottle of wine and shared it. That was when her dark daughter, Janirsa spoke up with a smile, "The new girls they have standing for a potential gold egg are all very pretty."
"Oh?" Janesa said, in mid pour of Larissa glass. Frankly she was surprized her daughter would say such a thing, and not in a jealous fashion, either. "And how is that of any interest to us?"
"Well," Janirsa said with faux innocence, "I thought it would be of particular interest to J'var, since I saw him admiring them the other day."
"What do you mean?" Janesa said, almost tired of the games her children played. She started to pour J'var his glass next, as the boy glared at his dark sister like 'don't you dare.'
"Well, he was kissing on that one, what was her name J'var? Laszreen?" Her smile first coy was triumphant as Janesa over poured the goblet and nearly turned purple with rage.
"What?! After all I've done for you, boy, and you are going to ruin EVERYTHING for a CANDIDATE?" Janesa slammed down the bottle, thankfully with out breaking it. And J'var looked as if he might puke. Janesa had even planned to set him up with Kiaran. She was a pretty girl, with ambitions of her own. A good solid head, but he was going to throw away his chances with the queens to be with a some flighty candidate?! "There's not an egg on the sands but all ready you are ready to bed some girl who'd probably put out for any man with a dragon-"
"Mother she's not like that. And we're not in a relationship. It was a kiss on the cheek, that was all. She doesn't want me." he said the last phrase sullenly. And if Janirsa had wanted to be the favorite and knock out her brother, there was a change of events as their mother's face softened just a bit.
"And why wouldn't she want you? You are a fine boy, handsome and ambitious. Still. I wouldn't waste any time on her now." Janesa flared. Why wouldn't anybody not what her son?!
