Upon returning from the Conclave, Jazira and the new baby were sequestered in her chambers for a couple days. The Healers were fussing over her and the child, who apparently should not have been permitted to travel to Bitra from Fort. Jazira had finally grown fed up with them.
"The baby is fine, I am fine and I don't think either of us are any worse for having travelled. Now either get out of my chambers or I will see you out of them." Her eyes met that of her guard, standing at the door. He knew exactly how tp persuade them to leave if they failed to do as she told them to.
Thankfully they had taken the hint. Jazira slept soundly for a few hours before the baby cried. Her basonet was not far from the bed. "Quiet my little one." Jazira told her as she let the babe suckle. It was then that she decided she needed to check on her other children.
After Jazerin was finished feeding, she wrapped the baby up and made sure she, herself looked respectable before walking down to the Nursery.
What she found when she arrived was not good. Havala was missing and the nannies claimed her brother, Leslow had not been home for the last day and a half. She knew that HAydrin would have told her if somethign were wrong but how could he have missed that both children were missing? Feeling angry and upset, she took it out on the poor nannies. "I thought I told you to keep an extra eye on her!" The lady stormed out of the room, holding her youngest.

Haydrin had been notified that Leslow was missing, but he had never been told about Havala. Perhaps they figured his heir was more important to him, and that he was less likely to care if one of his daughters went missing. Maybe they feared his wrath when they told him TWO of his children were gone while he was away. When Leslow had been gone for a day, Haydrin had been told. He had not thought it was a big deal-boys would be boys, he would return at nightfall or in the middle of the night. Probably fooling around with a serving girl somewhere. Just as long as he didn't marry her, was all he worried about. Then by morning when his son wasn't found, that's when Haydrin got mad. Of course the Lord Holder figured the worst, either Haydrin was a runaway, or he was killed. It wasn't uncommon in Bitra. Even Haydrin's own brother went missing and was found dead at a young age. Though Leslowe was different from Haydrin's younger brother, so if he was dead, it must be for other reasons. It didn't help that Leslow was his named heir.
Which speaking of, upset him even more. At the gather and at the Conclave, Haydrin had been looking for suitable wives. With out his wife's permission, of course. But it never hurt to look! Haydrin was intent on using his heir to cement an agreement with another major hold. Sure, his mother had been from the noble house of Fort, but she wasn't a Lord's daughter. She had been a decendant, a granddaughter or great grandaughter of a Fort Lord. He couldn't remember. And his wife was from a minor hold, and he was quite happy with her. Yet, he felt that it was time to align Bitra with another ruling house. Telgar had no one suitable (no one single, for that matter) and he wasn't sure if he wanted one of Nidosh's daughters, though if it came to it, he'd agree. He actually narrowed it down to Keroon and Fort. He had even broached the subject of it to Lord Marstan, of Keroon. His daughters Prin and Selana were only three and two years ahead of Leslow, respectivly. Fort had three daughters, though they were younger. Alsea was Leslow's age, and there were Chaila and Melora, though he felt they were too young to marry in the near future. But now he had the embarassment to contact Marstan and tell him everything was off.
He sat in his office/study, writing furiously. If his worst suspicions were proven true, he'd have to name a new heir. And he had half a mind to inherit one of his daughters. Haydrin was more mad than anything that his Hold virtually went out of control with his absense. He wasn't sure if his son couldn't take the pressure or what, but he was very dissapointed, and hoped he had plenty of time on Pern before his children had to take over for him.
((mwahahahaha. It's crabby Haydrin.))

After scolding every single one of the Nannies, Jazira left the Nursery. She was beyond worry and it was making her more angry than upset. Even the baby seemed to sense her mother's growing unease and began to cry. Jazira wasn't about to sit down with the baby to get her to stop, she just kept on her path. Haydrin had better be in his study...
Any and all drudges that were around made themselves scarce. The Lady Holder was back and she wasn't happy. No one would be spared a good talking to. Everyone risked losing their positions or being docked in pay when the Lady Holder found them at fault for something. She demanded perfection. Having two of her children stolen from her own Hold suggested they were all to blame. After all, she had not been there to protect them.
She didn't bother knocking on the study door, she just stormed in. The expression on her face was well past that of a worried mother. "Where are they?"

Haydrin looked up as his door was slammed open, and there stood his wife, a raging she-dragon. He didn't even have time to greet her or compliment her, or even divulge her on the situation on their son before she asked him 'where they were.'
"They? They? So then that's it? Leslow's run off with some serving girl? By the first egg! How could he do this to me?" Of course, Haydrin wasn't told about Havala's dissapearance. He assumed that his hypothesis was correct. He gritted his teeth and with his elbows leaned on the desk in front of him, he pulled at his hair. "I knew it. I knew it! Here I thought he was too good, and too obidient. He had his secrets, eh? But to answer your question, I don't know where Leslow and his little tramp is. All I was told was that he was gone for a day and a half. What an embarassment."

She readjusted the baby in her arms and looked confused. Her oldest boy though far from perfect would never run off with a servant girl He may have an affair with her but he wouldn't jeopordize his right as heir to Bitra.
"I meant Havala." She said, sitting in a chair near the door. Jazira was feeling tired. "Leslow and Havala. They are both gone and apparently its been the exact same amount of time. I told them, even reminded them to keep a better watch over her." Jazira was near to tears.
"Who could have done this?"

"Havala's gone too?!" Haydrin spouted, louder than he would have liked. The Lord Holder dropped his fists, and they pounded on his desk, tipping over the ink well. "Shard it!" He yelled, quickly picking up the well, and trying to mop up the mess with some blank hides. This was just not his day. And then his wife sounded as if on the brink of crying.
He looked up at her, tenderness returning to his voice as he walked over to her, "Oh, my star, don't worry, I'm sure they will turn up. I'll send out the guard to comb the surrounding area. They'll turn up." As for who could have done it, Haydrin had no idea. He figured amongst his people he wasn't terribly looked upon. Though Bitra was known for their more devious residents. It had crossed his mind that perhaps some one was looking for ransom. Well Haydrin would have their throats slit first! He put his arms around his seated wife, and kissed the top of Jazira's head. "It'll be alright, my flower, my star of Bitra. We will find our children."

They had better turn up. She wasn't sure who had done it but she had some guesses. The dragonriders for one. They hated Bitra for not tithing and after all, they had said the same at the Conclave. "Darling, I'm going to send a letter to Crom and Lemos. I want to see who is responsible and if my suspicions are correct, they too will be missing family members."
She was not happy about it but she needed to get to the bottom of this and fast. If the dragonriders were to blame, they had messed with the wrong Hold. Not only would Haydrin never let anyone mess up his family but he would not allow himself to seem weak enough to be missing two children.
Jazira would look for them herself if she were able. Her eyes lit with a certain determination. "We will find them and those who took them will pay dearly." She felt more comfortable with HAydrin's arms around her. "I better go check on the other children. I overheard the Healers talking when I was on bed rest. There is something the matter with Vega and I think I heard them mention Kalista and Hadrel..." she looked slightly concerned. After all, she had thought she heard a drum message earlier when she had been napping but that could have been a dream so she didn't bring it up. Her husband was already very busy.
