(Set after Sulia and Merrek's falling out)
Sulia was tired. Waking up early in the morning was not new to her, but the idea of starting work early in the morning, and then partying till nearly dawn was not doing her, or her attention span any good. Added to that, she had not been able to sneak away to see any of her lovers, feeling certain that Merrek had placed spies on her. In short, she was stuck, feeling uncouth, and uncultured. She simply didn't have the time to make herself up, and she was running ragged.
Not only that, but she was still sleeping alone, mostly because Merrek was busy, and she did her best not to give him a chance to beg forgiveness. Her feelings were still hurt, and the idea that she had no where to go if he threw her out all conspired to make making up with her a very difficult thing. Though she hated to admit it, she was going to have to cut her nights shorter, and start taking naps in the afternoon.
There was, of course, a few things Lady Sulia wanted to do before she allowed any to see her weakness. One of them happened to be going to down today. Aeria was going to be allowed to sit next to Sulia in her bower that day. It was a small room, with only space for ten or so ladies, and a few maids. Today they would be stitching clothes and the like for a baby(to be born to a court favorite), and Sulia would be testing out Aeria. She wanted to know what the girl was like, and Sulia had gone out of her way to look a little special.
The Lady of Fort was reclining in a stuffed rounded chair, that allowed her to curl her legs up, and offered her back support. The dress she was wearing was one of rosebud red, and her hair was swept up. Makeup had been reapplied, and Sulia was smiling sweetly. Today, she felt, was going to be a shock and awe day.
