Despite being shy, even Ry sometimes needed to get out of her weyr. Yet she was not quite bold enough to seek out Z'ir to see if he was available or interested in spending some time together. The fact of the matter was that she found herself rather confused about the Brown Rider. He'd been sweet and wonderful recently, and she liked it, but felt like something was... off.
Irath was sleeping on the ledge, and Ry just wanted to get out of the weyr, to think, to relax. So the Green Rider headed down to the Pyralis common room, wearing a simple brown skirt that fell just above her feet, a pair of warm stockings under them to fight the cold, and a warm white sweater. She brought a blanket with her and some embroidery that she had been working on.
She knew her wing. She knew that a Green being in the Common Room would be largely ignored by the Browns or Bronzes unless they wanted something, and that was fine with her.

N'zule was just sitting in the common room. Sitting alone was contemplating things was a little to hard- and besides, as long as he stuck close to other blue or green riders, he'd be able to fake having a private conversation well enough should R'lec walk by.
He wasn't really doing anything- just staring at the fire, and thinking about Nisha, and her predicament. It could, he was sure, effect her standing enough to damage her chances of getting into a high class Wing, the top three being Pyralis, Zahra, and Triveni. There were others, of course, but none as good as them.
And he wanted his niece to have the best.
He sighed, and continued thinking about what he could do to help make the gossip go down once it came out. And it would. There were no secrets in a well run Weyr.

Rynien saw N'zule when she came into the Common Room and tilted her head slightly looking at him. There was something about the way he was just staring into the fire that made her wonder if something was going on. She moved over to sit by him, "Hey, N'zule."
She sat and began to arrange her work around her. She did not always get time for embroidery, but keeping in practice helped her with her leather work, and she had something in particular that she was working on. She threaded her needle with some red floss and then looked over at N'zule.
"I know that when I'm studying the flames that closely, I've usually got something on my mind." She smiled warmly to him, one Green Rider to another. "Want to talk about it?"

N'zule glanced up as Rynien deposited her embroidery onto the couch beside him. When she started talking about letting out his fears, N'zule almost sighed.
He'd tell her of course. He'd had sisters, and lady friends, and he knew very well that they would not stop until they had his secrets.
"My niece is pregnant. She's also a Weyrling." N'zule announced shortly. Running his fingers through his hair, N'zule growled slightly. "Not exactly an auspicious start."
Looking down at her embroidery, N'zule was mildly impressed. It was very good, and there was a lot of it. He'd never had the patience for learning the art of handicraft past what he needed for Delith's harness. Looking at the beauty she was creating, he almost wished he had.

The design was pretty simple. It was a stylized dragon, not a particularly creative design for a dragon rider, but the person she was making it for was not really one to make that kind of thing easy. The dragon was picked out in shades of brown, but even so there was a careful attention to detail, showing the strength and grace of the dragon.
Ry frowned slightly at what it was that was bothering N'zule. "No... that's not a good start. But its not that horrible is it? I mean, the Weyrling Master knows, right? And he'll work hard to make sure that she's ok? And her Dragon is? She could always get a rider to take her between if she doesn't want it."
She frowned slightly as she put her work on her lap and looked at him. Something just didn't seem quite right to her. "I don't understand. Weyrlings aren't supposed to..." she gestured awkwardly and blushed, "you know. So how is she pregnant? Is that the problem? She's in trouble for breaking the chaste-rule? Is her dragon ok with it?"

N'zule shook his head. "I'm pretty sure it's better for the dragon to mature more, and deal with birth, rather than dealing with the stress of Nisha Betweening right now." He knew his niece. She would freak out, and besides that, she'd already decided on keeping it.
"She was pregnant before she impressed." He added, as an afterthought. Nisha didn't break rules. "And she just recently informed the Weyrling Master, as well as the father. I trust them both to make sure of her, and not allow either her, nor her Green to flip out. That, however, still doesn't make me want to brood any less."
N'zule looked at Rynien's blanket and tried once, knowing it was probably in vain, to change the subject.
"Who are you making it for?"

Ry blinked as things started to make sense. His neice was in the new clutch, and there were very few women who had impressed. She looked to her arm and frowned slightly. While she was dressed warmly it was not visible, but under her sleeve were scars she'd much rather forget.
Though at the same time, she wondered if she and Z'ir would have ever seen each other again if not for that. She was not really sure if she and the brownrider were together or not, but she did enjoy being with him. Even if it was weird and not quite right and she couldn't figure out why it was not quite right when it should be good and he was being all sweet.
She shook her head and looked back at N'zule. "I guess that'd be rather difficult. I hope that they're able to help her and her Green. And I think you're allowed to brood. It means you're worried, which means you care. And its nice to have someone care about you."
She blushed slightly at the question of who the embroidery work was for, "Um... its for Z'ir. I noticed he didn't have anything decorative at all in his weyr, and I thought he might appreciate this."

"Z'ir? The Wingsecond from Triveni?" N'zule interest was piqued. "Why are you making things for him?"
It really didn't make much sense. Of course N'zule had seen the brownrider charging onto the sands after Rynien, but that didn't mean anything, did it? It was rare that anyone in Pyralis went out of Pyralis to have a relationship, but if they did, it would make more sense for Triveni than Zahra.
"And Nisha needs someone to care after her. And Rory isn't exactly the type I'd choose for her, but I can't make any decisions can I?"
It was a question, as much as didn't sound like one. He wanted to help Nisha, and maybe he should help her more than she wanted help. It made sense to him at least. But she was her own woman, and he couldn't defend her from everything.

"Why wouldn't you choose Rory to take care of Nisaha?" For the time being she was ignoring the issue about Z'ir, though she did blush at the question and the blush did not go away with the changed topic. "Because you want him to take care of you?" The question was not asked accusingly, just curiously. "I don't know, it seems that you can make some of the decisions, but I don't know." And she didn't. She didn't even know from having known him over the years if he seemed happier with or without Rory, it had been a very tumultuous relationship.
Since she'd asked her own questions about relationship, she knew that she needed to not avoid his question about her own relationship situation. With a sigh she gently traced the carefully picked out brown dragon with her finger. "I like him. A lot. He confuses me though. Also a lot. I... I think that maybe I love him. And I think that cares about me, and could maybe love me too. But, I don't know if he'd ever admit that."
She shrugged slightly, studying the dragon rather than looking at N'zule. She was not ashamed, except maybe of the confusion and uncertainty. It definitely wasn't some romantic happy easy story. "I don't know." She shrugged again.

N'zule listened with interest about her relationship with Z'ir(A wingsecond!). "I didn't realize anyone from Triveni could be so complicated." N'zule said carefully. "But I'm sure he'll enjoy the blanket, and who knows, maybe it'll help make things be less complicated."
He hoped it would. The other greenrider was sweet, and he hated it when sweet women had problems. They deserved better, and he knew that Del agreed.
"Rory and I had our problems." N'zule conceded. "And as a person, I'm fine with him taking care of Nisha. However, our past, and the fact that he can't appreciate her in certain ways, makes me wish he wasn't have a child with my niece." That was a good, ambassadorial way of saying what he felt. N'zule was rather proud of the answer.
"And we're over. If I still want him, or not, that doesn't change anything about our relationship."

Ry blushed slightly as the thought "You have no idea," crossed through her mind at the statement about Z'ir being "so complicated." However, she did not speak it out loud. She did grin slightly though, "I just hope he likes it. His weyr could use some brightening up." His weyr was actually cleaner than her own, but it was so spartan.
She tilted her head slightly at N'zule, "This is the weyr, even if he can't appreciate her in all the ways she deserves, she's not weyrmated to him or anything. I'm sure shell find someone who can appreciate her fully when she's ready, but for now, she has a good friend who can help her with the baby, and a good uncle who will help her too."
She frowned slightly, "Can I ask why its over with such finality? Maybe I'm reading you wrong, but I do think that you would like for it not to be over. Is there really no chance of reconciliation?"

"His weyr too? Am I the only one noticing males who impress Brown or Bronze never have nice looking Weyrs unless a woman forces them too? Us Greenriders and Blueriders never have this problem- I wonder why they do."
It was a feeble joke, but he had to try- something needed to ease his tension about Rory.
"And I know all of that. It doesn't make it any easier. But after my initial reaction and threats, be pleased to know, I treated him as gracefully as any Triveni diplomat." N'zule smiled a rather smug smile. He was pleased by his self control, glad to know that it was still there, buried under more than a decade as a Pyralis wingrider.
"It's over because there is no way he'd ever want me back. The things he left me over- well, I can't change, and neither can he."

Ry chuckled warmly, "I don't know. Z'ir likes his weyr very neat. Which I like too, but its..." She sighed, she somehow felt bad saying anything that even remotely could be taken like a criticism, "Its so boring. Its just bare and utilitarian. There's almost nothing to let you know whose weyr it is." And while she hoped to be spending more time in it, she did want it to be neat and clean but also, well, theirs. She had to admit, as much as he confused her, she hoped he asked her to be his weyrmate soon.
She smiled over to him, "I'm sure you did fine, N'zule. I can imagine it wouldn't be easy to know that the man you love is having a child with someone else, or to know that your young neice is having a child during her weyrlinghood. Yelling might not have helped, but I think it would have been understandable." And Ry was being quite sincere. She knew she'd be devastated if Z'ir was having a baby with someone else.
"Maybe he can accept those things?" She didn't press what they were, but N'zule rode Green as she did, and she vaguely remembered that his former lover was a drudge, it was easy to guess what it might have been. She chuckled, "I'm sorry, it sounds like I'm trying to solve your romance problems for you, doesn't it? I think sometimes it easier to try to help someone with theirs than to work on your own."

"It's like they don't realize that things can he functional and look good at the same time. Beds don't have to be roughhewn stone or wood- it can be styled, and look good. And blankets don't have to be uniformly brown with no designs." N'zule shook his head.
"And let me guess- he has stone floors and no carpets, right?" N'zule himself wouldn't ever allow there not to be carpets in his weyr. Even if he had to make them himself. Even if they had to brown(which his weren't). Even though he had to clean them himself.
"And Rory, well, He can't stand that I flirt with men before a Flight, and pick fights with him before a Flight. The actual Flight he can stand, just not the three or four days before. I'm thirty-two, I don't need to be breaking up and getting back together every month. Both of us deserve better than that."
It was possibly the most mature thing N'zule had ever said- it was too bad that the statement was one about not allowing himself to have a good relationship.

"What if you didn't break up, but he just moved to his own quarters when your Delith is proddy." She knew that she changed drastically when her Irath was proddy, and wondered how Z'ir would take the different her. Last time she hadn't seen him at all during that time.
She sighed sympathizing with him, "I don't think anyone other than another Green Rider can really understand what a proddy dragon does to you. Maybe Queen riders." She shrugged, "But they can get away with anything. I'm sorry, N'zule."
"He has one rug." She blushed slighly, "On the side of the bed where I sleep when I stay the night. Cause, well, I asked him to. I hate when the first thing my feet touch in the morning is cold stone."
