The message that arrived from the Weyr was placed with the Lady Holder's other mail. The rider who had brought it had returned to the Weyr and would arrive later in the evening to see if the Lady had a response.
Marisol's seal was on the back of the letter, which ensured that it was important.
To Lady Sulia of Fort Hold,
Good day. I hope this message finds you and yours in good health. Telgar Weyr sends greeting. As much as I hate to ask it of you, I do need a small favor. A young Weyrling seems to have left his five turn old brother in the care of some Healers at Fort. When he left him about seven months ago the boy was ill. His name is Nogharn. If you find the child, we will take him to the Weyr and compensate those who cared for him. This would not be so urgent but for the fact that I fear the mental delicacy of the young dragon and the affect his rider's worry over his brother will have on him. We cannot afford to lose any riders with the Red Star approaching.
My thanks to you for any help you can spare,
Marisol, Retired Weyrwoman of Telgar Weyr.

Sulia was, by nature, a rather conniving woman. And reading this rather formal letter addressed to her by the Queenrider Marisol was rather, well, flattering. Igraine, Fort's Weyrwoman was never particularly respectful of Fort Hold's Lady, and it irked her sometimes.
Just because she didn't Ride a Queen herself, and wasn't nearly as old as Igraine didn't mean the woman couldn't treat her like an equal. Instead of giving her a brush off and running to find Merrek and Ariashi to talk to them.
And simply because of the tone of the message, Sulia decided to ignore the fact that no male candidates should have been Searched from Fort. It would have been easy to create an incident over this all- and she knew it.
But Marisol had been respectful. And so Sulia herself had gone hunting through her Hold. She'd even done it without the help of her Headwoman. She didn't explain to anyone why she was looking for the Nogham, and no one questioned her. It was a rather well, nice feeling to be able to ask for something, ad get it.
And by the by, an hour or so later, results. A young couple who'd taken the boy in when they'd thought their child was going to die was discovered, content with their two children around the same age playing.
Sulia explained that someone had claimed the child, comforted the mother as she cried for a few minutes before giving over the boy. A few marks were exchanged, and Sulia spend the morning with the boy. He was quiet, and well behaved, especially after Sulia explained he was to go back to his brother, and that he was to travel on a Dragon.
And they waited for the Dragonrider to arrive, and Sulia worked on a problem in the project she'd been given by her husband and Ariashi. Somehow the child made everything easier to do- and she didn't know why.
All Sulia knew it that ever since she'd received notice on how many of her family had been blessed with mostly male children, she'd wanted a child of her own.
And the fact that she couldn't have one was driving her crazy.

K'dyn, having been all to happy, to deliver the message for Marisol wasn't exactly used to being a messenger. Ortath landed him on the ground, not far from the Hold entrance. They didn't want to disturb anyone. The mahogany brown waited, patient as can be while his rider went up to the Main Hall.
"Excuse me, I'm looking for Lady Sulia." He said to the Steward. "She recieved a message from Telgar Weyr earlier today. I've come to collect a response." Or even a child, he did not say but he hoped the child had been found.
K'dyn didn't expect a red carpet treatment here but he was glad to see they were respecful at least. He was Weyrbred and knew little of Hold customs. He had also thought the Lady would be a middle aged woman, with the body of one who had had many children. The woman he was introduced to was not like that at all.
"Lady Sulia." He made a bow, as he would to a Weyrwoman. "Telgar Weyr is in your debt. If we may be of service, feel free to send word. I'm Wingrider K'dyn." He didn't think the woman would care but he was trying to be formal and respectful.

Sulia looked up from her work when K'dyn was shown into the room. He was a very good looking man, and she smiled with sincere interest when he walked in. After he introduced himself, she stood, giving him a nod.
Smoothing her red dress, she moved gracefully over to him.
"My respect to you and your dragon, Wingrider K'dyn. May it never be said that Fort did not respect ancient tradition." Sulia replied easily. "Including that of food and drink. Would you care for either?"
It had been a long time since Sulia had trusted herself to flirting with any man, and while nothing she said could be counted as flirting- if this exceedingly nice specimen of a man was willing to stick around for a little bit, she might have a chance to indulge in a little fun. The child was there, and that wouldn't allow for much fun, but simply flirting would be nice.
"Nogham is, of course, ready to leave when you are."
