Leshya was dressed immaculately. She had been when she had received the message earlier that day. She was dressed in a coral colored dress that flattered her form, with just enough of a neckline to give a peak at her cleavage. Her hair was perfectly in place, and her jewelry was tasteful.
She considered not knocking on the door to Enald's study, as she was still mad at him about their fight from the day before. However, despite her anger, she did still love him, and chose to knock.
While she waited she reread the message from the Bitran Lord and Lady. Not because she needed to, but to keep her anger at her husband from resurfacing. It did the trick. When her husband would let her in, she'd be smiling, even if it did not fully touch her eyes.

At the knock on his door, Enald knew who it was that was bothering him. Leshya simply had a way of knocking that he instantly recognized. Steeling his nerves(the woman had been like ice the night before, so much to the point that he'd had to change which bed he was in), and wishing that he'd gotten more sleep the night before, Enald responded.
"Come in!"
It wouldn't do to let her know that he realized it was her. It was always better to have a slight advantage- and knowing when it was her was one of them. Lifting up several papers, he made it look like he was sill hard at work, though the Lord had been distracted most of the morning.

Of course she'd been like ice! He had completely shattered the trust she thought they had. The revelation that either she could not trust her husband or that he simply didn't care had been devastating to her. What he did not know was that when he had given up on trying to sleep in the same bed with her, she had wound up crying herself to sleep. She was not entirely sure, at the moment, that he loved her.
However, when he called her in, her thoughts were focused on the Gather. "Enald. We've been invited to a midsummers Gather at Bitra. We need to respond who will be.." she looked up from the invitation. "Oh, I'm interrupting you."
For a moment her options ran through her mind. She wondered if she could accept what she feared their marriage had become. Part of her wanted to apologize, to have him hold her and tell her it was ok. Part of her wanted to spew more venom at him, to make him understand just how deeply he'd hurt her. And part of her just wanted to flee.
Instead she took a deep breath and plastered a fake smile on her face. "Is now a good time?"

Enald carefully placed papers he'd been holding down, and smiled warmly, a tiredness in his eyes.
"Now is as good a time as any." He said, adding an unnecessary comment that was rather out of character. "Take a seat." He nodded to a seat across from his own seat, separated by the desk. It was a nice seat, less worn then his own, but different in make, though not color.
"Jazira and Haydrin are having a Gather?" He asked- again, a question that would not have normally graced his lips. "Will you need a new dress, and what does our Hold need to prepare?"

She nodded and took the seat opposite from him. For a moment she just looked at him. As if trying to discern his feelings, wondering if he was bothered by last night too. If he cared that she was hurting. After a moment she looked back to the invitation, as if to remind herself of why she was there.
She shook her head slightly, "No, I don't think I need a new dress." She had said earlier she would, but the way he was talking to her, she felt like a child who had disappointed a parent. She bit her lip slightly, not looking back up from the invitation. "My red silk dress should be fine. I've not worn it to anything formal for anyone to recognize it." Probably silly for the Lady of Telgar of all places not to accept a new dress, but at that moment she did not want one.
She took a deep breath and looked up at him. "We need to decide who all will attend and send a reply with how many we'll be bringing. They'll be having Runner races as well, so we'll need to send the entry fee and decide which Runners you'll want to enter."

"Runners I can do." Enald said seriously, pausing even then to think about it. Brown Star would be entered, but everyone else would have to be checked over several times.
"People, however, I cannot. Would you like to take care of everyone, or should I ask a steward to take care of it?" It was as close to a peace offering that Leshya was going to get, but it was up to her to take it or not.
She looked nice- but then, she always did, making him always want to check that he was up to par with her. He rarely was- a fact his manservant bemoaned on more than one occasion, but the Lord Holder rarely had time to have a new suit of clothes made for him. Sighing lightly, Enald waited for her response.

A light flickered in her eyes slightly, "If you're not afraid that my tending to such a matter will jeopardize you getting an heir, then I would be glad to handle the matter."
Had he realized that he had asked too much from her to ask her to cease being herself. She was not entirely sure.
She sighed and nodded slighty, "I expected you would want to do the Runners. I know how much you enjoy breeding and raising them. I doubt anyone in the Hold is as familiar with the Runners as you are."
She looked at her hands. "I wish you could understand." She spoke softly, but he'd hear her clearly enough. "I enjoy working alongside of you, helping you run the Hold. I don't find it stressful. I liked being your partner, Enald. I loved how you'd take me seriously and listen to me. That I didn't have to manipulate you to matter. The stress, the only thing that I feel stressed about is that I've not gotten pregnant yet. And now you want me to focus on that."

And out came the fangs.
Managing to keep his face impassive, he listened as she described her reasoning, and then his brows creased. Hadn't she told him that her lifestyle had been stressful? Had he missed an important clue?
Had he just royally pissed his wife of?
All of that was fixable, naturally, if he'd been able to utter a simple phrase(that phrase being 'I'm sorry, I won't do it again'), but that didn't seem like it would come easily. So, Enald settled for the next phrase that would work, and didn't leave him in a place in which his wife was capably of stopping on his dignity.
"Since when is that how you feel?" Not quite a good a way to get himself back in Leshya's good graces, but a simple enough way of showing a misunderstanding.

She blinked and looked at him. "Since... the whole time." She was a bit confused now herself.
"I told you that. I explained that to you yesterday when you decided that I was to relinguish most of the extra work I'd taken on." She had, she had pleaded with him not to take it away from her, that she thought he had wanted her as a partner. Admittedly, emotions had been high yesterday.
"Enald, I want to have your child. I've always wanted to have your child. Shards," She very rarely used such strong language, but she didn't know how else to express herself right now, "I'd like for us to have more than just one child. I want to be a Mom. But I don't want to be just a wife and mom. I want to be your partner, Enald."
She offered him a smile, a true sincere one. "I enjoy when we discuss Hold matters. I enjoy helping you figure out a problem."

"But why would you want to continue taking on extra duties that keep you up much past when we should both be sleeping? And I do not recall saying that you wouldn't be kept up to date on the Hold- why that would be idiotic of me."
It was more than he would ever usually say to any person, wife or not, but hopefully it would clear everything up, and allow them to move on. She hadn't wanted his offer of a new dress- well, unless she asked nicely, he wasn't placing that offer back on the table. The Lord Holder wasn't accustomed of being refused, and he disliked it.
"Now, about the Gather."

Leshya smiled softly to her husband, "If I promise not to stay up late, may I continue to be your partner? I did not realize that the work I was taking on caused you to feel that I was neglecting you, Enald." She honestly did not realize he had minded the few times she'd stayed up late, though she figured he'd only retired shoftly before her.
"Perhaps a compromise? I'll scale back some, and if there are things that cannot be finished by dinner, I'll hand them over to your Stewards." She smiled a bit, "And perhaps start doing some of my work in your study with you rather than in my bower?" After all, she did do this to work alongside of him.
For the first time since their argument, Leshya felt right again. Even if he did not completely understand, he did more. And she would give up some of the work she had been doing.
She then allowed him to change the subject. "I think the minor holders who have done well this year, and who can afford the time off should be allowed to attend. When we have our own Gather, everyone will obviously be invited, but I think for Bitra we should take those who have earned it. As well as your family, especially your brother." The man needed a wife.

Enald choked back a laugh. "I uh, don't think it would be a good idea to bring Torent along. Not to a Bitra Gather."
He didn't elaborate on the reason for that, and since the gossip about his brother was rather hush hush, it was doubtful his wife would know why. Torent had a rather bad problem with gambling- that was, he enjoyed it, and was absolutely horrible at it. Enald didn't feel like having marks taken out of his Hold, and placed directly in Bitra, so he was rather loath to allow his brother welcome.
"But Leana and my parents would probably welcome the distraction. There is also a minor hold that has out produced themselves again this year- we should bring them along."
The lady of that family was a wild gossip, which would allow everyone who didn't get to go along a chance to experience some of the wonders. And they would have their own gather- in fact, him and Lesh would have to soon decide if it would be a big Gather or a small one. Enald paused at that thought, wondering who'd been asked to host the Conclave that year. Telgar hadn't had that honor in Turns, but they weren't the best suited Hold or something of that nature anyway.

Leshya blinked slightly at Enald's reaction to bringing Torent. She would not argue with her husband - over this anyway, but she could not understand why he would not want him to go.
"Enald..." She sighed, their relationship was too newly healed for her to not be careful about this, "I trust your judgment, of course, but why do you not want Torent to attend the Gather? Surely, they're inviting all the Major Holders, and your brother needs to seriously begin looking for a wife." She knew some of her brother-in-law's vices, but not all. "It seems the more of these kinds of events we can take him to, the better chance we'll have of finding a wife who could... " She did not want to offend her husband, "Perhaps um... calm him down some." And put up with him, but she would not say that outloud.
She nodded, "What about Ulria and her husband? Their hold has done decently." She had started making notes, "The Minor Hold you're talking about? That's Rodris and Iratha's hold isn't it?"
She frowned a bit as she looked at her notes and then to her husband, "I suppose I should start hosting the lady's of the court more. Now that I'm not using the bower for a study."
That would also, perhaps help in finding a suitable wife for Torent. She just hoped the conversation wouldn't be just about dresses and hair and frivilities.

"It would be discourteous the Lord and Lady of Fort to have the Leaders of Telgar invite a Holder from Fort to a Gather in Bitra. It would be up to Merreck to invite them." Besides, Ulria, while tolerable, had a habit of lecturing he simply didn't want to have to deal with while at a Gather. Nor did he want to deal with her insufferable sons, and daughter.
"Rishna's husband is currently assigned to the outer reaches of Telgar, so we could bring them along." Bervich was a good, capable healer, though it had been a rather outrageous match when it had been made. A scandal, in fact, and his mother had nearly had a heart attack. They'd finally been allowed back into the family, though everyone wanted them to foster out any children they had.
"Rodris and Irathra, yes and Fandran and Zincai. I can't think of anyone else though. Can you?"

She grimaced slightly at her mistake. His family was big - though not really bigger than her own - and to make a faux pas like that was rather embarassing. "Oops. Sorry, I forgot she was at Fort."
She smirked a bit at her husband avoiding the issue of his brother. "Darling," She smiled at him with that smile, "Why shouldn't you brother go to the Bitra Gather?" She was family afterall, there was no reason to hide it from her, especially if he wanted her to help find the man a wife!
She looked at their list and shook her head, "No. I think that really does cover it. Do you want me to wait on a decision about runners, or go ahead and send reply while letting them know that we'll send the entry fee shortly?"
This, this kind of making decisions together and talking about things, this was what she wanted, and to have it back again... she wondered if her husband could understand how happy it made her.
