Skipping lightly, the girlish Lady Holder had quickly transported herself to her husband's study. Giving the door a quick rap, the lady pulled open the door(if he was doing something private, or wasn't there the door would be locked, after all). Finding it unlocked, Sulia swung the door open, and danced in.
"Oh Merreck, it's terribly excited." She chattered excitedly, not bothering to check and see if anyone else was inside his study. "Lady Jazira and her husband are throwing a Gather, and they'll be Runner Racing!"
A happy laugh fell from her lips. "Which Runners should we race?" Sulia would probably know which ones were in good health- a product of her constant rides, and relationship with the grooms. They told her many things they might not tell others. It was in very good fun, she had to say.
Though her red dress was slightly scuffed(she had been trying to get to Merreck rather fast), and her hair more messy than she liked, Sulia still looked good. And she knew it.

"...So, I want to see an increase in the num..." Merrek sighed as his wife entered his office and began talking without seeing if anything was going on. "We'll continue this later."
The stewards slipped out without comment as Sulia went on about the Gather. The Lord of Fort frowned as he noticed that one of the men gave a slightly too appreciative glance to Sulia. He'd deal with that later though.
When the Stewards were out, he would smile as he gave his wife his complete attention. "Well, lovely, you certainly do seem to be excited about this." He'd move over to her and gather her in his arms, He breathed in the scent of her hair.
"I think that Dragon's Fire and your Lady's Dream would represent Fort Hold well. Do you have any suggetions?"
He was dressed rather formerly, as he had been doing formal business, and looked quite dashing, even for a middle-aged man.

Sulia noticed the Steward's glance as well, and made a mental note of it. The Steward(Corton, wasn't it?), wasn't very old, and could be fun. More dangerous than the average man, but more fun because of it.
However, Merreck was speaking, and it always did well to listen to him. "Yes, they'd be nice, but Corettay's Chance has been doing well in work outs. Not our horse, but you could talk to your sister." She smiled sweetly- his family wasn't really very fond of her, but Merreck could probably convince them either way.
"Prodigy of Andros has been doing fairly well. He's much better on turf, but I think they use dirt in Bitra. Do you remember?" Her air of girlish innocence wasn't a mask, but she probably did remember(or at least she could remember if she tried), but it was always easier to be that way. Men felt better when they took care of something.

He smiled as she made the horse suggestions. "I think perhaps we can afford to enter all four runners. I'll speak to Liewryn. Perhaps she and her husband would even want to attend the Gather. They've done well enough that they should be able to afford the time off. Of course, we'll cover their entrance fee, but we'll also share the winnings should he win."
Merrek leaned down and kissed his wife sweetly, "And it is up to Andros whether or not Prodigy runs. Though I think will strong encourage him to. If the runner has a weakness, then Andros can learn from it. But yes, I believe it is a dirt track in Bitra."
He looked down at his wife and smiled, "That red is stunning on you, lovely, but if you would like a new dress for the Gather I believe that we can afford it. Take what you need from the coffers." He did not mind indulging his wife at all, and he knew that a new dress would make her happy.

"Oh, wouldn't it be wonderful," Sulia said, a large smile on her face. "It would be quite fun to bring some family along."
Well, it would. As long as she could bring Melora, then the rest of the family couldn't mess with her. Actually, they could, but Melora would make it tolerable. The girl was endlessly fascinating for Sulia, though if you'd ask her why, the woman wouldn't have had a clue. It probably had something to do with how vastly different Melora was from Sulia.
"Oh," Sulia cried at the mention of a new dress. Standing up a little two gain the two inches, she gave Merreck a kiss, saucy like, but with no intention of going much farther. She knew how much work he had to do- he didn't have the time to just stop everything, not for her.
"What color do you think?" She asked. His opinion was of course, important. He probably had favorite colors on her, after all.

Merrek would gladly accept the kiss, returning it in kind. Though he regreted that he did not have time to make good on the promise of the kiss. Well, tonight he'd try to finish up early. It had been to long since he had given her a full night of attention.
"Hmmm... I think purple looks quite ravishing on you, lovely. A nice deep purple." He gently entwined his fingers in her hair.
"Yes, I think it would be good to take the family along. It would be a good oppurtunity to think about bride prospects for Delek. We'll need to think ahead about a dowry for Alsea too. She's of the age that father's might want to consider her for their own sons. And she'd be a good wife for an heir."

"Yes, she would." Replied Sulia, barely able to keep the gleam of excitement out of her eyes. Alsea and her did not get along well, and to have the girl married off, and away from here would be very nice. Though, Sulia would have to make sure the girl didn't end up with the Heir to a major Hold- it wouldn't do to have to run into the girl at all times.
"I'll have to look into suitable girls for Delek to meet. I'm sure I'll have time tonight." She did like Delek- she'd make sure he ended up with a good girl- and she had ways of making sure it was a good girl too. There was no one like a bad girl to find the most innocent flower of all.
"Purple." She paused, thinking about it. "Perhaps with a blue sash? Oh yes, it'll be dashing!"

"My lovely, you are dashing in anything." He would gently nuzzle into her hair, "And even more dashing in absolutely nothing. Though I have no desire to show off how beautiful my wife is naked."
He chuckled, knowing that his wife would probably have some ideas regarding a wife for Delek. "Make sure all the candidates are daughters of Major Holds or have something to make them worthy of Fort." He gently stroked her cheek, "Few women are the rare find you were, my dear."
"However, don't count on having too much time tonight. I'm going to try to finish up early and give you the attention you deserve."

Sulia's face brightened up considerably. It was always a good day when she didn't have to sneak around, and her husband was making sure she was having a good. Merreck truly was a lovely man, and treated her very well, and to top it off, he wasn't as suspicious as other men often were.
It was nice.
"Well, I'll at least get it set up. And I'll make sure that they're all good girls, I'm good at that." Her smile was content, and she nuzzled up into his warm body. Older men were much more comfortable then younger men- she did have to say that. And they didn't act as nervous either. It was very nice.
"I'll expect to see you then." A wink was given, and Sulia's thoughts raced forward to what she would be wearing, and if she should get wine. It was always exciting when he wasn't too worn out to do anything except sleep.
She leaned up to kiss him again, and then smiled sleepily. "Well, I'd better let you get back to work then, hmm?"

Merrek would return the kiss, feeling his wife's anticipation was nice. Sulia made him feel young again, not that he was truly past his prime.
"Don't spend too much time working on it tonight, 'Lia. It can wait until the morning." He ran his fingers through her hair and then let go of her with a soft sigh.
"Yes, I should get to work. The sooner I wrap up the few things I need to do, the sooner I can come to bed." He winked at her. There was a little bit before it'd be reasonable to end, but some of the things he needed to do could be deferred to give him more time with her tonight.
"Why don't you take a long bath and relax. I should be done by the time you get out of the bath." He leaned in and kissed her again, a kiss full of promise.

"A bath sounds nice," She said, closing her eyes appreciatively. "Well, dearest, I'll see you later."
One last kiss on the mouth was all she did, and she moved away, struck by how cold she'd started to feel. Moving slowly, and with a smile on her face, she made sure that her hips moved side to side. Twitching her red dress out of the way, Sulia opened the door.
Just before she walked out into the passage, connected to the rest of the Hold, she turned back and gave Merreck one last wink, then closed the door, and sauntered out.
Yes, today was look marvelously good. And in the best of ways.
End!
