Sulia was strolling around in her highly decorated courtyard. Nothing about it was left to chance(not even her own actions), and while she appeared to be strolling with no regards as to where she was going, there was a little yellow-citrus tree grove at the back that she had a certain affinity for.
While usually, the lady would surrounded by her court, today she'd been distant, and had discouraged her usual throng. There was an event that had captured the attention of Sulia, and she wanted to think on it. A few days earlier her husband had been the way he'd been when they were courting, and it had been quite fulfilling. More so than sneaking around, but after her night was up, it had been back to work as usual, with her left on her own. She'd felt a little worse than usual, and even her new dress(which was simply splendid) did nothing to lift her sprits.
Sulia wasn't sure what that meant, but probably nothing good. Sitting down on love seat, she leaned her elbow on her thigh, and leaned her head on her hand, pondering everything with a seriousness that was foreign to her usual actions.

Nebarcus hadn't seen Sulia for a while, mostly she was in the company of her ladies or with a recently affectionate Merrek. Of course being a courtier, he was only allowed to write poetry to her ladies, and make it come off as nothing serious. He did have a wife, after all. Nebarcus was allowed to flirt openly with her ladies, but he had to be discreet with Sulia, lest there would be some suspicion to their relationship. He has seen her slip away, how could he not notice her?
He came out to the courtyard, making an excuse that he needed some fresh air to the others. He strode out, a smile playing on his lips. Nebarcus wanted to put his arms around her and kiss her ferociously, but that was not happening unless they were behind closed doors. He slipped next to her, "What's wrong, my love?"

She couldn't exactly tell her lover that she was having problems getting used to her hot and cold husband. It simply wasn't done- perhaps her maid, maybe even another lady, but not her lover.
Shifting slightly to look at Nebarcus better, Sulia smiled sweetly. "Oh, it's nothing." Her voice was high, and sounded slightly surprised. "I was simply thinking on the Bitra Gather. We're entering runners for the race, and it's simply so confusing to decide who is worth sending over." While she and Fort's guests would be transported to Bitra by Fort Weyr dragons, the runners would need to be send nearly a month earlier, to give them time to get there, and once there, time to get back into racing shape. That was what part of the entry fee covered- and it wasn't cheap.
"I don't suppose you could help me with that?" Though Nebarcus was one of her favorite lovers, she didn't entrust him with the knowledge of how intelligent she actually was. Not even Merreck was completely trusted with it- though some of her lovers from before marriage knew, and Yonne knew as well. It was well that he didn't know, or he would have never bought her story about the runners.

Nebarcus liked to think he was smarter than the women in his life. Like many men, that gave him confidence and fed his ego. The young man beamed at her, "Thank you for asking me, milady. I have a fine runner myself. He was a gift from my father, who is the Lord of Keroon. So he's good stock. You could enter him. I'd champion you if you'd like. Give me a little token to win for. Unless you think that'd put Uncle Merrick into a fit of rage."
He didn't even think when he put 'uncle' in front of Merrick. It made him shiver looking back, making him feel a little guilty. Nebarcus looked at her rather seriously, "Though men usually always champion Ladies when they are not married to them. I don't think that you'd ever see a Lord in a race. Maybe betting, but never riding. I think it's rather more from the Hold than the Lady personaly, but you know if it was from you, I'd win just for my lovely Sulia."
