Since Azerith did not particularly seem to enjoy the scritching, she would pull her hand back. She did not want to bother the dragon. She had wound up laying back herself, kind of sunning as she thought.
She decided that maybe she was beginning to accept the ways of the weyr, that's all. He was a very attractive man, had been a gentleman to her, and it had been a while since she'd been with anyone outside of flight. She sighed and mumbled up to the sky, "I guess I'm just lonely. Maybe I should stop making such a big deal out of the whole being with someone thing."
She chuckled a bit at herself, and just relaxed, though she wondered if she ccould ever really let go like that. She opened her eyes and sat back up when she felt the water droplets fall on her. She chuckled, "Hey. Thank you. I feel so bad for making you do so much tonight. But thank you."

He had paused before bringing her attention back from her thoughts, taking the time to look over her. He hadn't had the chance yet, due to her continual awareness. But in that moment, while she wasn't aware of him standing there, he could look at her. Z'ir had meant it when he said he'd have remembered her if he'd met her with more than a casual greeting. The greenrider was absolutely beautiful, and he felt a mild touch of disappointment that he hadn't on some chance had Azerith participate in one of Irath's flights.
But that thought was turning down dangerous roads, so he got her attention with a flick of his hand. He was rewarded with her soft chuckle, and he found himself smiling too.
Azerith rumbled mildly to himself as he obseved his rider's behavior. The man had become increasingly responsive to others, so much so that the brown had been harboring streaks of jealousy. He didn't approve of the smile Z'ir was now sporting. It used to be that he was the only recipient of that look, and now the man was giving it away for free. Just because he met a pretty girl...the Weyr was full of pretty girls, and he hadn't been treating any of them like this.
Of course, Z'ir hadn't been spending much time with women, preferring to spend his time around his male friends and children. So suddenly being thrust into a situation with a woman who needed his help made him feel a little special. His daughters were all growing up and going through an independent phase, so he had been feeling a bit lonely.
But why would he need to feel lonely when he had Azerith? That's what the brown wanted to know. And why he kept feeling the need to be social. The brown had been perfectly content with just the two of them.
Z'ir tilted his head slightly, then sat cross-legged in front of her, leaning back with his fingers splayed in the grass to support his weight. "It's not a problem, Rynien. I'm just glad I was here to help," his voice was warmer, more so than the breeze that came with the darkening sky. It caused the wet rider to shiver slightly, but it was a nice feeling. He hadn't felt this good in a while. "I suspect you might be needing help later, so don't hesitate to call on me, okay? I don't have much to do these days anyway."

Irath made a contented sound in the back of her throat and Rynien looked over at her smiling. That was nice. I like him. But you will be back to washing me soon, right?
Rynien smiled warmly hearing her Dragon's mindvoice. Yes, darling. I will be back to washing you as soon as I can. I promise.
She then smiled back to Z'ir as he sat in front of her. "Thank you. And Irath says thank you too. She enjoyed you washing her." She nodded at his offer, "I'll remember that."
She sighed and looked at her foot, though it was bandage, and she had put her shoe on - on the uninjured foot anyway. "Guess I'm not going to be allowed to go between until that gets better. So looks like I'm not going to be doing much for a couple of days myself."
She shrugged it off, she didn't like not being able to fully participate, but there was not much more she could do about it. "Do make sure to bring your bedding by though. I hate that I ruined them."
