Rynien and Irath came to the lake after dinner. Rynien was hoping that few people would be there, because it was really hard to dress modestly for bathing Irath and then perhaps taking a swim, though she tried. She wore an old pair of pants, that were cut off just above the knee, and were not too tight - though she knew they would cling when wet, but there was little she could about that. Her top was an old red shirt that had seen better days, with some stains and faded spots on it, but otherwise it was fine - no holes in the fabric. It was short sleeved, and kind of close fitting - to prevent the whole bubbling that loose shirts tended to do in water.
She set her towel down and smiled, all her worries about modesty gone, as she watched Irath dive into the lake. The dragon fully submerged herself and then came up to the shallows near her Rider. Wash me now, please?
She chuckled warmly, "That is why we are here, lovely." She would smile as she got the sandsoap and began to wash Irath, lovingly tending to every inch of the pale Green. There were few things the Green Rider enjoyed more than pampering and tending to her Dragon.

Z'ir had opted out of dinner for reasons only he knew. The rider had been skipping meals often lately, probably due to his waking up too early to eat because he'd forgotten to eat. It was a vicious cycle he had fallen into lately. Some green had gone into PFS a few days ago, and the effect it'd had on him was still lingering. It probably didn't help that it had been a green in his wing, and located so close to his weyr. And Shaynn had gone into one of her moods, effectively making him grumpy from receiving the blunt of it.
And now Shaynn was seeking him with a vengence, and the brownrider opted out of that, too. Dinner would have meant a public place, making it easy for his daughter to find him. He had gone to the lake, knowing no one went there around dinner. As long as he left before it got too late, he could avoid the amorous couples. Thinking he'd be alone, he'd stripped down and happily jumped into the water.
But he had not had the fortune of being alone today, as he had found out when a green had suddenly dive-bombed the water. Z'ir had gotten attacked by a mini tidal wave and gone under, coming up to be greeted with the sight of a big, green tail. He snorted and swam around to the other side, not at all thinking about his lack of clothing.
Of course it was a woman rider, and of course she was modestly clothed. Surprise for a Rider. Must be a Hold girl. Not that he cared, having been raised in a Weyr. He swam a little closer, but decided to stay at a distance just in case that dragon decided she wanted to go into PFS like every other green seemed want to do.
"Pleasant surprise, having a dragon nearly land on top of you," his comment was dry, but pleasant as always.

"Oh! I'm sorry!" Her eyes were wide, and she felt genuinely bad that Irath had inconvienced the man. "I thought... dinner just barely ended... usually the lake is pretty empty right after dinner... I didn't realize anyone was here."
She realized that he was probably naked and her eyes widened more before she blushed and looked away, patting Irath softly. "Irath didn't mean to almost land on you." Had she known he was there, Irath would have landed in such a way as to make him admire her gorgeous self, not try to drown the man.
"We're sorry." She blushed, but did not look at him, since she was pretty sure that he was probably completely naked, though she didn't look closely enough at him to be sure. She just knew what she could see was definitely sans-clothing.
"Um... why didn't you go to dinner?" She was pretty sure there was no way he could have been to dinner and still have been swimming for any time before she got there.
Despite how she was probably coming across, she was smart. She just hated inconveincing anyone and was flustered by his nakedness.

Z'ir bit back a laugh at the girl's obvious blush. She had to be Holdbred. So the dragon's name was Irath, which meant her name was...Rynien, his dragon supplied. The rider had always been glad that his dragon was good with names - though all dragons did it - so that he could slip up every now and again. Knowing someone's name instantly made him more comfortable around them, even if he didn't let on he knew.
"It's quite alright. Irath is a lovely green, so I didn't mind at all," he remained floating where he was, conviently within a short distance from his clothes. If she asked him to put them on, he would, but until then he would enjoy the water the way he wanted.
"I have my reasons," he shrugged his real reason off, choosing a more neutral one to voice, "I thought the lake would be empty, as you did. However, as it is, I'm quite glad you decided to join me." He backpedaled a bit, then asked, "Would you like some help with Irath?"

Let him help, please?
She chuckled slightly at her Dragon, You just want attention.
Yes. And he will give you attention too. You have not had much attention lately.
Rynien blushed slightly and sighed at her dragon's comment. She then turned her attention to the man, "Irath would like that. And... I would too." The fact of the matter was that he was an attractive man, and it had been a while since she had had any attention other than in flight. Though she'd never admit that she wanted attention - romantic or otherwise.
"I'm Rynien by the way. And, this is Irath, but you already knew that."

A smile blossomed over his face at the acceptance of his invitation, and he swam over leisurely. "It's a pleasure, Rynien. I'm Z'ir, and brown Azerith is my dragon. You may know him as the lazy brown thing sunbathing on the eastern corner of the bowl," his comment was dry as he turned to pick out the brown...sunbathing on the eastern corner.
I do not appreciate your belittling of my activities, Azerith snorted, spreading his wings to catch more sun. Z'ir grinned at the brown, then tamed it back to a smile as he turned back to Rynien.
"I don't think I've seen you much around the Weyr. I know it's a big place, but I think I'd remember seeing you," his smile warmed as he took up a spot near Irath's haunches, dutifully starting to wash. It was habit that he went there - it's where Azerith always told him to start. His comment had been sincere. The greenrider was beautiful, and he always kept track of everyone he met.

Rynien chuckled at his description of his dragon and then smiled warmly to him, "Its nice to meet you too, Z'ir." She grinned over to see the brown sunbathing, "I'm sure he's a great brown."
Rynien blushed slightly at the compliment. "Um, I don't remember meeting you." Of course that was probably because she mostly kept to herself. She wasn't anti-social, she just did not go out of her way to meet new people. Even meeting him now had been a complete accident.
She worked on washing Irath, working on her shoulder. She happened to look back and realize that she could see... more of Z'ir than she had meant to and the slight blush she had at the compliment, became a full bright red. "Um... I... uh... I'm... uh... umm... " She shook her head and leaned her head against Irath's shoulder for a moment, "Um, I'm sorry. I suppose I should be used to the ways of the Weyr after five years... but um... I'm not. Could you... uh... put on a pair of pants? Please?" She felt bad for asking, but she just was not comfortable around naked men yet.

She is much nicer to me than you are, Azerith sulked, tucking his wings back in. You should take a lesson from her in respecting me. Z'ir bit the inside of his mouth to keep from laughing, merely splashing more water up at the green. Dear dragon, dear brown, are you feeling jealous?
No.
The rider knew that was a lie, and made a silent promise to deal with the brown later. He refocused on the woman just in time to see her blush darken, and guessed what was coming. His smile weakened, but he was accomodating and swam back to his clothes, slipping his pants on. "Of course. I'm sorry I assumed you would be okay with it," his tone held nothing but the mild apology. He didn't want her to feel any worse about the situation than she already did. And Faranth forbid he mention that he hated the feel of wet cloth on his legs.
He swam back over and resumed washing the green, humming snatches of an old song before commenting, "Might you care to join me for dinner sometime?"

"I'm sorry... I know I should be." She sighed and focused on washing Irath. She kind of felt bad for asking him to get dressed, but she just... she just was still a bit of a sheltered young woman, somehow. "Its silly. There were girls in my candidate class who were holdbred and ok with the ways of the weyr almost immediately. I'm just... I guess I'm kind of behind the curve there."
He washes nicely. I like him.
She grinned a bit as she moved down to Irath's front leg, You, darling, like anyone who gives you attention.
Yes.
She giggled softly and then grinned over at him as he returned humming. "Thank you." When he asked her out she blinked at him... "Me? Yeah, sure... yeah. That'd be nice." She grinned at him.
She also took a step to her right to get under Irath's foreleg and did not look where she put her foot. A sharp intake of air, with a slight "uh" sound and widened her eyes. After a moment when the shock wore off she looked down to see blood pooling in the water around her foot. "Ow..." There was still enough shock and her foot was in the cold water, that she did not feel the pain as sharply as she would in a couple of moments.

Z'ir maintained his pleasant smile, and one would think that it would start to ache after a while; but he had practiced long enough that it failed to bother him. "It's nothing unusual these days. More often it seems we draw from the Holds to provide for our clutches. I should learn to be more considerate," his smile warmed a touch, had she looked hard enough to notice the change.
The rider was about to suggest somewhere besides the Hall for their dinner date when he heard her soft exclaimation. He immediately looked over, eyes landing on her back. Admittedly, he took his time moving them down her body to where the problem lie, but he eventually saw the pool of blood dissipating into the water. He tsked softly (Azarith, come down here, please.) and moved close enough to lay a hand on her shoulder. "We're going to have to take care of that before we can finish with Irath," he glanced up at the green and flashed her a smile, "Sorry, doll. Can't let your rider get infected."
Without listening for any response from Rynien, he whisked her into his arms and waded out of the water, cradling the greenrider to him. The brown had settled down some yards away, and the rider took the distance easily before swinging up onto him, expertly keeping Rynien in the same place. "Now, dear woman, I'll hear no protesting. My sister is a healer, and I used to get lectured for not taking care of them when I got them. So you will let me tend to you," his voice was just firm enough to let her know he was going to go through with this.
Moments later the brown settled onto the ledge of his weyr, and Z'ir slid off. As usual, his weyr was beyond neat, so he had no reservations when he laid Rynien on his bed and disappeared behind a door to get something.

Rynien started to protest, but before she could, the pain hit her. And it hurt, a lot. She whimpered slightly and shifted all her weight to the other foot. She was embarassed, but she knew that walking would have been extremely painful, so there was not much she could do.
Mine? Are you ok?
Will be... just stepped on something sharp...
You hurt.
Yes, dear, I hurt. But it'll be ok. I'll be back shortly. Its ok.
Promise?
Yes, I promise.
"I'm sorry to put you out. I should have paid closer attention." And she heard the tone in his voice. As embarassed as she felt, she would not argue or protest that it was nothing. That and it still hurt. She would have had to hop to the Healers or have Irath fly her - which would have been fun trying to climb up on her back right now.
However, being laid on his bed, completely mortified her. Now she was as embarassed as she was in pain. She whimpered and would, if there was one in range Rynien would grab a pillow and whimper into it, trying to hide as much as she could.

Z'ir shut the door with his foot as he returned with one hand full of bandages and the other full of numbweed. He took one look at her whimpering into his favorite pillow and let himself sigh. Most girls would be thrilled to be on my bed... he thought to Azerith as he perched on the edge of the bed, laying a towel he'd draped over his shoulder on his lap. He carefully maneurvered her foot over the towel.
"Just lay tight, Ry," he abbreviated her name without thinking, "And don't worry, your clothes will stay where they are. I'm not one to take advantage of every beautiful women who happens to appear on my bed without asking," he teased lightly, trying to embarrass her enough that she forgot about whatever extra discomfort he was causing her foot as he wiped off the blood and applied a generous amount of numbweed to it.
After wiping the excess off, he expertly bandaged her foot and replaced it to the spot it had been formerlly. Ever anal about cleanliness, he went about putting everything back before returning to her with a mildly concerned smile.

She grimaced as she let go of his pillow, "I... I'm sorry... I wasn't worried about that." She bit her lip as he wiped off her foot, the cut was slightly jagged and the skin was sensitive even if he cleaned her foot gently it hurt.
She tried to grin to him, though the pain would be evident in that smile. "Probably not how you want to have a woman in your bed either, definitely not how I try to get into a man's bed." Admittedly, she rarely actually tried to get into a man's bed. And her attempt at a joke was probably pretty lame, but she was in pain and embarassed, so that she even tried is pretty significant.
As he went about cleaning up after tending to her foot, the numbweed began to kick in and the pain finally started to alleviate. She grimaced as she sat up, not being in pain any longer and looked at his bed where her foot was. "I got blood on your bed. I'm sorry. If you bring the sheets to Pyralis wing, I'll get these washed for you. You shouldn't be put out more for my clumsiness." It didn't even occur to her that the drudges could and would do the washing.

"Well," he commented, still sorting things in his closet, "I prefer the women in my bed to be blonde and delicate with vocal eyes, nicely toned and laying down." He appeared from the closet and let his eyes wander her a second before flashing her the same smile he gave Irath. "I'd say you fit all of those, if you hadn't sat up."
He shut the door soundlessly and joined her on his bed, eyeing the stain. Perhaps he stared at it a little too long, lost in thought, but he remembered he had company and smiled up at the greenrider. "I'll get them to you, don't worry. But that just means you have to come here to return them," he couldn't hide the tinge of smirk from his lips as he tried to say this with a straight face. As much as he knew he'd enjoy this woman's company, he wasn't so sure he'd enjoy her blushing the entire time. That didn't neccesarily rule out the option, though.

Well, Rynien could definitely not blush anymore than she already was, but she did smile at that. It wasn't a subtle compliment, but it was a nice one, and she could not help but to accept it. She had to admit, she did not like attention, even if she did not regularly seek it out... though she kind of hated to admit, even to herself, that Irath's teasing was right. "Oh, I'm sorry I disappointed you then."
She tilted her head as he seemed to eyeball the stain and looked around his weyr. It was so neat, the stain must have disturbed him. Something she understood as she kept her own weyr immaculate.
She grinned when he finally responded, "I think I can handle that." She was prudish by Weyr standards, but in a hold she'd be considered lose - unless there were other Riders to compare her to! "Though, I usually like to get to know a guy before I make a habit of visiting his weyr." She blushed slightly at her own brazenness, but the fact that he had just gently took care of her foot and had not even tried to press his advantage, made her feel more comfortable.
