The creche was hit hard and fast with the illness now plaguing Pern. The children in the creche were all sneezing, coughing and catching high fevers. The creche nannies had begun taking children, the day before, to the infirmiry as they began to show signs but now, today the numbers had doubled. The healers had decided to visit the creche then they had decided the children should not all be together in one area they were to be picked up by a parent or foster parent to be looked after.
Rory, though not a foster parent, had come to help Allior to get her children and her two foster sons. "Allie, take Alene's hand and follow me. I'm going to get Rorie." He said.
Allior had Kerzule, Nashin and Aine. The Creche had become chaos in more ways than one. Children were coughing, sneezing and panicking. Rory hoped the whole Weyr wasn't about to become this way, with rumors that their beloved Retired Weyrwoman was ill as well. The Healers reassured them that the disease was only fatal to the young and old which did little to reassure the parents of the younger generation.

Venaru was looking frantically for her son, Vanaeric. She was terribly worried, for there was no one else in her life that she cared for more. She had sacrificed her claim to raise him, but she wanted to take him and whisk him away before he got too sick. She was still a mother, and she still wanted to save her baby. In her search for her boy she bumped into a man, and her eyes widened with recognition, "Rory." She said and paused, too worried about her son than mad at him. "I'm looking for my son, Vanaeric." She hoped he was not sick, but there was a good chance he would be. Venaru was too proud to cry, but she was getting frustrated with not finding him. ---- Elisha was advised by the Weyrleader not to come down here. But Elisha was not a very fertile woman, and she had only one son, and she loved that boy too. The Weyrwoman wanted to take him back to her weyr and keep him there with her. It wasn't as if she didn't trust the boy's foster mother, but healthy children were a rare commodity for her, and she wasn't sure if she'd ever have another. Elisha wore plain clothes and a cloth-like wrap over her hair and wrapped around her neck. She looked for Elirian, and spotted the boy not too far away with his foster mother, and she was about to reach out for him when she felt a familiar pull. She knew it was about the right time, but in the chaos she had forgotten, only caring about her son. She said through her teeth to his foster mother, "Bring him to my weyr after. . . after tomorrow."
Elisha left in a hurry, knowing what was coming. Just blood, love, blood.

Seeing the woman from a couple nights ago he nodded. "We'll find him." Rory may have seemed like an ass the other night but it wasn't his usual behavior. Nor was he one to hold a grudge. Clasping Allie's hand, who held onto Alene he went held the youngest, 2 turn old Rorie, in his other arm.
"what does he look like? The girls might know him. Allie is fourteen and Alene is ten so they help keep an eye on the younger kids when not doing chores." Rory explained to Venaru.

"He's nearing his second turn, he has dark hair like me, and big dark eyes. He's a average size for his age." She said, wondering if her boy would survive. It was a pessimistic thought to think, but she couldn't help it. She blinked back a tear, but she would not shed any more. "Oh, Rory, I don't know where he is!" She couldn't help but think that if she didn't leave her position with the creche that perhaps she would have her boy and will have left with him. Van was so young, so succeptable to disease. She was scared for his life.

Rory almost laughed but not because the woman was in anguish but because Van would be in the same area as little Rorie. Allie smiled at her uncle, "Venaeric is one of Rorie's little friends. No doubt he is around here somewhere." Which was exactly what happened. Venaric practically bumped into them.
Rory looked down and then up at Venaru. "This must be yours. He looks just like you..." The comment was not an understatement. He didn't think the woman could handle the stress of losing her son. "Your only child huh?" He personally had none but he didn't think the woman would know that these three were not his.

"oh!" Venaru was relieved and scooped up the child. Most people saw her as a bossy hold bred woman who got lucky by landing an Assitant's spot. Venaru demanded a lot from their people, she wanted to see their best. Therefore no one really expected her to be so loving and tender to Vanaeric. The child coughed a bit, and looked lightly flushed, and Venaru held him close, "Thank you for finding him, Rory."
Her boy sounded sick, and she was worried, but she would nurse him, she wanted to, even though she was too ambitious to be a mother full time. "Yes, he is my only. How many do you have?"

R'net had but one child, his son, Reiko. Reiko's foster mother had several children, and Reiko's biological mother was currently pregnant with her blueriding weyrmate's child. Hence, he was well aware that he was going to have to take care of his son on his own- the boy would do better with individual attention.
It took merely a second to spot the boy, his eyes hazed over, the feverish glare reflecting out of them. Reiko had coughed at least a few times before R'net could reach him, and swoop him up into his arms. Once the boy was safely in his arms, R'net began to exit the Crèche, heading for his weyr.
You are needed in the Feeding Grounds. Tor remarked to him suddenly. The Bronze sounded excited, and R'net sighed.
I haven't time for a Greenflight right now, Tor. Could you put it off? R'net's mindvoice was rather harsh, and distracted. Reiko felt too light, the thick boned boy limp in R'net's arms.
Adoleth Bloods. Torenth responded mildly, and waited for the desired effect.
R'net cursed wildly, and then, after thinking for a second, set out at a run. It was never a good idea to get caught in Dragonlust far away from the flight, but he couldn't bring his son to the Flight Room(though R'net doubted he would win said Flight), and it was just as impossible to leave Reiko along in his weyr. Mari's Weyr, however, was close enough to the Feeding Grounds, and her and Reiko got along splendidly.
A very good plan, that it was.

Rory had the nerve to laugh. "These are my neices. I have no children of my own. Neices are enough though eh?" He looked down at little Rorie and grinned but stopped grinning rather suddenly. Her face looked really pink. He hoped she didn't have a fever. "I've got to get them to their mother's rooms. Good seeing you again. Keep healthy." He said nice as can be.
Allior had succeeded in finding the three she had gone in after, Kerzule, Nashin and Aine were all in tow. He met her outside the Creche and they all walked together back to her rooms. After the kids were all settled, and Allior had a male companion of hers over to help her, Rory took his leave.
