Neory had spent a long morning going over inventory with the Headwoman, a task which she felt to be quite tedious, though she understood the importance of it and did not complain. She had been quite glad when the Headwoman had expressed satisfaction with the inventory and told her to go get some lunch.
Neory's pants had dust on the knees when she came to get her lunch. She had gotten her lunch and headed over to the tables where the weyrfolk ate. She had been dismissed later than most had lunch, and while she enjoyed being around other people, she was more than willing to enjoy her lunch in quiet.
With a sigh she set her food down and took a deep breath. After lunch, she had a task she enjoyed - laundry. It wasn't that she particluarly enjoyed cleaning clothes, but that it was usually a good time to talk and enjoy some time with others while working.
With a content smile, she began eatting, trying not to think about what the fact that there was not enough grain or other supplies.

R'net sauntered into the Weyrhall looking tired, but satisfied. Torenth had insisted on yet another Greenflight, and had won this one. He'd woken up with someone who's company he enjoyed, and while she had needed to leave to make sure her straps were up to inspection, R'net had decided he would take lunch before getting back to whatever it was that his Wing needed this time. He hoped it would be bargaining with the other Wings about who got which Weyrlings. That Green looked so perfect, and so had those blues.
Realizing that no one was eating at Triveni table, nor the high table, and not wanting to eat with other wings or Weyrlings, the man turned his eye toward the Weyrfolk table his roving eye catching site of a pretty girl.
Gathering his rather large lunch on a tray, the man moved to a seat directly across from her, and smiled brightly.
"I don't suppose a lonely rider might be allowed this seat here?"

She looked up from her food and smiled, "Of course." She would gesture towards the seat, "Don't get too many Riders sitting over here. Are you just that lonely." She smiled as she asked him that, wanting to make sure that he knew that it was meant as a jest, not an insult.
She would put her fork down and reach across the table to offer her hand. "I'm Neory. I don't think we've met."

Placing his food carefully down on the table, R'net smiled slightly at her joke. Just because Triveni riders didn't play pranks didn't mean they had no sense of humor. About to take his seat, she offered her hand, which made him pause. Most girls didn't give their hands unless they were blue- or greenriders, or something along those lines. Deciding that he would treat it the same way he would treat it if a Queenrider offered her hand, he took the hand(pleasantly calloused), and kissed lightly on the back of her hand.
"Pleasure to met you, Neory. Call me R'net."
He squeezed her hand carefully before letting her hand go, and taking his seat gracefully.
"What brings you to the hall so late in the day?"

Neory laughed a bit at his kissing her hand, "You should be glad I'm not the kind of girl to go gooey over every little thing. You do that to some of the girls in the Caverns and you'll have them squealing and telling everyone how a Rider kissed them and they're going to be his lady and it was totally love at first sight." She rolled her eyes as she pulled her hand back.
In a high, obviously false voice, she imitated, "I will never wash this hand." She winked at him, not trying to belittle him, just not wanting to take the gesture too seriously.
"Its nice to meet you, R'net. And don't mind me, manners are a wonderful thing." She took a bite of her food, though would chew and swallow before answering his question.
"As to why I'm here so late? The most impossibly boring task ever. I got to help with inventory this morning." She held up her hand, "I know how important it is. I really do. And I didn't mind doing it. But now that its done, I don't mind mentioning that it was mindnumbingly dull. What about you? Why didn't you have lunch with your wing today?"

"Well, perhaps it was love at first site!" R'net replied, sounding mock hurt. "Perhaps I can no longer live with out you!"
"I know how bad inventory is." R'net replied with a touch of horror in his voice. After taking a bite of his food, and swallowing, he continued. "I was stupid enough to volunteer to help in the capacity of a Goldrider, and I got harnessed with that duty. Although, at least you weren't alone for most of it. Some of the caverns around here are downright creepy."
Taking another bite of food(Rolls were such a tasty food), and swallowing, he considered his next words carefully. The girl seemed Weyrbred, and so he was able to tell her the real reason for his lateness instead of a carefully crafted lie.
"Torenth decided it would be a good idea to go Green hunting again. And then, instead of gracefully failing, and allowing me to get my work done, the lump had to win! So, my lunch was rather, ah, delayed."
Smirking slightly at the girl, he raised an eyebrow. "I think my reason for a late lunch is better than yours."

"Mmm... since I am not a Rider, I seriously doubt it was love at first sight." She wrinkled her nose slightly at him.
She ate a couple of bites as he talked, laughing a bit at his description of inventory. "So good to find someone who understands my pain."
When he finished she would look at him with teasing sympathy, "Aw, poor you. It must be horrible to be forced to take time out of your busy day to have sex. How horribly you must suffer."
She chuckled, "Though I do believe that I would agree that your reason is far superior to mine. At least yours was enjoyable, I hope."

"Very enjoyable." So enjoyable, in fact, that the Bronzerider looked like he was glowing.
"Of course, it has nothing on the time spend in your radiant presence." He winked at her, taking a bite of the meat. It was a bit over cooked, but what could one expected several hours after lunch?
"So, any secrets about the state of the Weyr I should know about? Because if we're about to experience a shortage of grain, I'm gonna go get some more rolls." He made as if to get up and move- and while he was apparently joking, if she became serious, he was going to go grab some more rolls. And get ready to spend a bunch of his stipend on bread- he couldn't afford to live on meat and vegetables- they didn't offer as much power when it came to getting things done. Nor would they keep his body weight up, something he needed to keep stable.
"And you do realize riding, especially now days with less girls on Dragons, is beginning to be less necessary in relationships?" His smile growing slightly, he continued. "And my family is more than willing to defy convention over love!"
There really was no proof of that in his family record, but it sounded good. Continuing to eat, he sighed. Good food was something he needed to remember to eat more of. Eating the fruit that was placed in a bowl, on his Wingleader's desk once a week, really wasn't a substitute for a meal.

She laughed a bit, "You're quite the flatterer, aren't you? You must ride a Bronze. Only Bronzeriders are as bold as this."
At his question she would sigh slightly, "I wouldn't say a shortage is immenient, but we do have less grain than we should. The Headwoman said that's fairly normal and nothing to worry about, but it seems just... wrong."
She would smile again though with a shake of her head, wanting to clear it out of her mind, "I wouldn't start hoarding rolls just yet. Its not gotten that bad."
"Relationship? Now there's an odd word to hear from a Rider. But what an honor that would be, to be the bed warmer when you weren't out chasing and catching Greens..." She rolled her eyes a bit, "But whoever said I was interested in a relationship anyway? I'm weyrbred. I wouldn't ask from a Rider something his Dragon won't allow him to give."

"Well, he tells me he's a Bronze. He also tells me that he's been able to fly since he flew out of his egg- so I'm not sure if he's a reliable source of information." Winking to show he was joking, the man continued to eat. Food, after all, was quite important after a Flight.
"I'm pretty sure we're overdue for new Tithes, and tunnelsnakes have a habit of getting into stores. Maybe some felines need to be put in stores again." He wouldn't start hoarding rolls- he was a bronzerider, after all, and he could always Between to somewhere else and get food.
"Now, now." R'net looked slightly more serious. "Riders can have relationships- perhaps we can't stay sexually loyal because of our Dragons, but you have that problem with rider and rider relations too. Flight is Flight, but relationships are different."
R'net truly did believe that- as many other rider's probably did, as well. Flight was something that couldn't be helped, and even Weyrmates didn't always catch the other in Flight.
"But of course," His expression lightened, "Why would a beautiful young lady like yourself want to tie herself down to any one man? Think of how boring that would be!"

She laughed, something she realized she was doing a lot in his presence. "A bit vain is he? Well, I suppose he has every right to be. They're so magnificient." There was a slight wistfulness in her voice, as one would find in many of the inhabitants of the Lower Caverns.
She shook her head slightly to clear it again, "I'm sure things'll be fine once the tithes come in. Its really not a point to worry yet."
She tilted her head slightly as she thought about what he said, "Perhaps. And I'm not opposed to a relationship, just not one of those girls who need one." She shrugged, "I suppose if the right guy came along, a relationship wouldn't be a bad thing."

R'net nodded slowly. His dragon, though he would never admit it out loud, was one of the least striking of Telgar's dragons. Brown-bronze wasn't something to brag about- not when others had red-bronze, or yellow-bronze, or even bronze-bronze.
Deciding that a conversation about relationships after a Greenflight really wasn't appropriate, R'net decided to change the topic of conversation. He was well known for knowing gossip, even if it wasn't from around the Weyr, and he knew some gossip that always led to fun conversations.
Gathers.
"So, have you heard about the Gather in Ista yet?" He asked happily. "I've heard they're really outdoing themselves this time."

"No I hadn't. It seems like its been forever since we've had a gather." She smiled remembering how much fun Gathers were.
"So, since you know about the Gather, what exactly are they doing to outdo themselves? We'll have to make sure that the next time we have a Gather we outdo whatever it is that they are doing."
As a drudge, she did not get to go to the other Gathers, but it was still always fun to sit around and talk about what went on at Gathers - if nothing else, it would give her something for her to discuss during laundry later.

"Twice the amount of space is being used. I mean, it's really a cost saving measure for the Lord- he gives people free, or really low cost space in a certain area if they chop down all the cane and stuff, and then with people trampling around, the land will get flattened out a bit, allowing him to follow through with his promise to Ista Weyr about removing the greenery from near his hold, and making flat spaces for planting in a half a season or so. Smart man, him."
R'net really was pleased by Lord Holder's idea. He knew how hard it was for Ista sometimes to kept there growth under control- a greenrider who'd transferred from Ista had told him all about it.
"Got anyone to take you?"
Otherwise known as a subtle way of asking if she was close with another rider. Not in a relationship with- but R'net really didn't feel like dealing with a jealous rider. It cut into his free time, and Torenth took up most of the little time he had.

She nodded, "That's really a good idea. Accomplish multiple tasks and make it so that everyone has a good time helping you out for free. I would think that, even if everyone knows what he's up to, no one would mind helping out." She smirked, "I'd hate to be a drudge at a hold, responsible for getting rid of all the green." She shook her head, "That just sounds like something that would make inventory interesting."
She blinked a bit at his question, "No. I hadn't even thought about going. I guess if K'dyn thought about it, he might would take me, but I don't know if its even occured to him."
While Neory had had rendevous with a rider or two in the past, they were always short lived, enjoyable, but nothing more than flings on the part of both herself and the riders.
