Neory had spent the day in laundry. While she tended to prefer working in the kitchens, even though it was hotter there, the laundry did have its advantages as well. While the work was more tedious, the conversation flowed pretty freely among those doing laundry, and it was easier to not be focused on the fact that you were diong tedious work.
However, as good as the conversation usually was, she was always glad to get off work, especially on laundry days. The work in the laundry could be pretty physical, especially since there were quite a few sheets that needed to be washed in addition to the normal clothing. So she was famished!
Neory had come straight from the laundry to the kitchens. She wore a 'kercheif over her hair, and her hands were slightly wrinkled from having been emerged in water in all day. There were drying wet spots on her clothing, which was simple. She wore basic tan pants and a dark shirt, with the sleeves still rolled up high on her arms.
She came in, found a seat and grabbed a plate, piling food - which was on the table since it was dinner time - onto her plate. For the moment being, she did not say anything to those around her, just got herself some food and drink. She wasn't trying to be rude, just was hungry!

Koriam had an easy day. What little chores he had assigned, he had managed to finish quickly and efficiently. It left the candidate with time to roam, gather his thoughts. There wasn't much going on in the Weyr these days that concerned him, so trivial things tended to preoccupy his thoughts....
Like girls.
You couldn't escape their existence, especially at a Weyr, Koriam had come to learn. But one in particular had caught his eye, Neory, a fellow candidate. He had known her, or of her at least, since arriving at the Weyr as a fosterling four turns ago. She was older, and because of that, seemed to carry a more intimidating air about her. Or maybe that was because she was cute... Koriam was still new at these things, and had yet to figure it all out. Was he supposed to flirt with her? Shells, he was awkward enough on his own!
Taking a deep breath as his eyes settled upon her in the Weyrhall, he took a deep breath. Here went nothing.
"D-do you mind if I join you?" There, that wasn't so hard, was it? His stomach rumbled loudly as if to say the sooner he sat down to dinner, the better.
So embarrassing.

Neory smiled warmly to the candidate, though it took her a moment to remember his name. "Go right ahead. Koriam, isn't it?"
While Neory was a Candidate, she did not spend much time with the other Candidates. With the new Weyrwoman, she might not even be allowed to stand unless there was a Queen-Egg - or her brother smuggled her in. And having lived at the Weyr her whole life most of the lessons were things she already knew. When there were dragon specific ones, she attended, but she continued her duties as a "drudge".
She chuckled as his stomach grumbled. "You really should sit down and start eating. Don't feel bad, you just missed me stuffing my face to take at the least the edge off my hunger." Well, she hadn't really stuffed her face, but for the first few bites she had been solely focused on not being hungry anymore. After that she'd slowed down and returned to her normally friendly self.
"How are your chores and classes going?"
