Aeroth was swimming in the lake and Sh'ran had just walked down. The bluerider had been flirting a particularly sweet girl about 19 or something, and he was grinning. The girl had been hold born, and so naive and innocent. It was entertaining. He would definately look forward to seeing her again. Now he was watching his lovely blue. Aeroth was really his pride and joy, followed by Shani, his daughter. He had a certain fondness for her that any caring dad would boast. The bluerider threw as stone at the lake and it skipped one, two, three, four, five, six times. Not too bad. He remembered growing up in the Weyr and skipping stones as a child with friends.
The bluerider sat down and propped his knees up and clasped his arms around them. There was a slight breeze that tossled his blond hair. He blinked and said to his blue, Lovely night for swimming. Isn't it chilly, Aeroth. Yes. And no, Mine, it is not chilly. The water is nice. All that is missing is a companion to swim with me.

Well, it would not be long until Aeroth would have company, though probably not the kind he was hoping for. Ragoth would fly down to the lake, in the shallows shortly after Sh'ran had reached the lake.
"Have fun, dear. You did well in practive today." She gave him a good scatch and then slid off his neck.
Yes, yes I did. He looked over at the other Blue, I would have preferred to share the lake with a Green, but I think this will still be a good swim.
She chuckled at him, "You know you're even worse than I am."
She would approach Sh'ran, "Mind if I join you while Ragoth plays in the lake for a bit?"

Sh'ran looked up to the speaker. A woman, he smiled, female company was always welcome. Especially pretty riders. This one rode a blue, interesting. He motioned her to sit next to him. "Not at all. I'd love the company. Gets a little lonely out here by yourself."
You always have me. Aeroth said smugly, and turned to see the other blue. Greetings. Aeroth would not complain. Sure greens were much better, but a blue was better than a bronze. Arrogant buggers.
"A nice night. I'm Sh'ran, by the way." The bluerider said with a smile. And then nodded to the lake, "That's Aeroth, in case yours did not already tell you. Might I inquire after your name, lovely bluerider?"

She had gone to her weyr since she'd been doing Wing stuff, so she was not in leathers. Instead she wore a teal shirt which was fitted well and showed off her taught midriff and a pair of pleasantly snug black pants.
"Thank you. I'm Jeyna, and the vain blue one is Ragoth." I'm no more vain than you are. He then turned his attention to the other Blue. Yes, greetings. He began to compare notes about Greens with Aeroth.
She chuckled at her Dragon's words. "Its a pleasure to meet you." Jeyna settled down beside him.
She took a deep breath enjoying the night air, "It is a beautiful night. And it would be an absolute shame to be lonely on such a night. Which makes me wonder how it is that you're lonely."

"The pleasure is all mine, Jeyna." He said smoothly, inclining his head to her. And oh, how he did notice-and appreciate-her choice of clothing. Very nice. Very nice indeed. Since she did ride blue, he would not need to remember to chase her dragon. But perhaps they could be friends at the very least? Who knew? They might be kindred spirits. He'd love to have a new friend to talk to. Some one more like him.
"Oh, I am no longer lonely, now that I have such a beautious companion." He smiled charmingly, hoping she wasn't the uptight type that would slap him for such flattry and flirting.

Oh, no, she would not slap him for flirting. Instead she would accept the open invitation and flirt back. He was rather easy on the eyes.
"Well thank you. A girl does try to make herself pleasing to look at." She winked at him, "And I'm glad to be able to ease the loneliness of such a fine specimen of man."
She would recline, resting on her elbows. "I don't think I've seen you when gathering for a flight."

He chuckled, glad he would not be expecting a black eye in the morning. "Well I would say that you are highly successful." He smiled and then looked out to the water, listeing to her. He grinned and looked back at her. "You should be very glad. I am very, very greatful, milady."
She had remarked that she didn't recall seeing him for flights. Well this wasn't unlikely, with all the greens in the Weyr, the pair couldn't be at all of them. Though they tried their darndest. "And I would remember seeing you." He said sweetly, though it was likely that he wouldn't remember. surely she'd know that. "I'm not sure, must just pick all different flights."

She chuckled warmly, "I'm sure that must be it." She did know that you didn't remember the unessentials at a Flight - and unless the two of their's dragons had wound up as rivals over a Green, she probably wouldn't remember.
She looked over at him for a moment. She was actually almost unsure of herself. She knew how to flirt with Greenriders - male and female - and she knew how to flirt with drudges. She even knew how to get a Brownrider or two. She secretly enjoyed when she got to be the girl instead of the dominant one. But a Bluerider, someone basically the same as her, she was not entirely sure how to flirt there.
"Your Aeroth is quite a lovely dragon."
She tried not to grimace at herself. That was rather lame.
Who are you and what did you do with my rider?
She stuck her tongue out at her own dragon, but did not answer in any other way.

Sh'ran laughed and looked out to the lake, "Now, milady, you are inflating my ego." I am lovely. Aeroth said with a slight tone of indignation. Of course you are, lovie. "Though I believe Aeroth thinks it is a compliment most deserved, so on his behalf, I thank you." Sh'ran looked towards her again, surprized that he not really met or known the woman before. Female blueriders were pretty rare, and would continuously be rare with the fewer women allowed on the sands. He found himself curious about her. He had usually taken very feminine, even delicate women to his bed and he wondered what made her different to Impress blue?
Well, he'd find out. Sooner or later, anyways. "So where might you be from, originally?" Yes it was the same old questions, but they worked, so he used them.

She smirked a bit at the comment about inflating his ego, "I'm pretty sure that we Blue Riders have egos that are big enough without inflating." She would wink slightly to let him know that she was both kidding and including herself in that.
She smiled, "He's quite welcome."
Hmmph, he's lovely?
She bit back a chuckle, Dearest, its not fair to expect him to compare to you. Vain Dragon.
She smiled some, "I'm a Runner originally, from a station near Telgar, though I was actually Searched at Fort Hold. Fortunately, I find Riding as freeing as Running, so I don't miss it. Though I do still enjoy an occassional run."
Occassional means every day now?
Hush, you. Aren't you supposed to be gossiping or comparing Flights or something?
"What about you? What were you before you were a Rider?"

"Oh a runner, than you must be in excellent physical shape." He said seriously, and then added a suggestive eyebrow raise. Soon after his seriousness melted to a mischevious grin. An athletic girl, eh? Very nice, he thought. He thought he distinguished a snort from Aeroth.
"What about you? What were you before you were a Rider?"
"A weyrbrat," Sh'ran answered simply. He was not craft educated or fostered to a hold. His parents didn't have much hand in his raising, and Sh'ran always knew he'd ride, so why waste time on a craft he'd never use? Not that it was a good reason, mind you, he missed out on experiences other people had, but then again, he had the good fortune of being with dragons all his life. "What clutch did you Impress in?"

She met the clearly suggestive expression with a mischevious grin of her own, "I've never had any complaints." She winked at him and then shrugged, "I enjoy running though, so its not hard for me to stay in shape between running and taking care of the Vain One."
She chuckled a bit, "Ah, lucky you then. No silly ideas that had to be altered."
She did prefer to be with those who were weyrbred, even though she herself wasn't. She still encountered some prejudices from those who were from holds or crafts.
"Ragoth is from Byenth's 42nd by Tianth. He was the third to hatch, and I believe the first to impress a girl in that clutch." She smirked some, "Took my parents a little while to accept that their little girl had been chosen by a Blue." She didn't mention how traumatized they were when they discovered their little girl did not have a preference when it came to gender.

Sh'ran chuckled, "No, but perhaps if I were hold bred I'd have some of these so called 'good morals' a wingmate keeps telling me about. But if I were hold bred, I'd hardly be as fun, in my opinion." He grinned at her. He was a regular casanova, liked to woo girls, as the chase was part of the fun. It didn't matter most of the time if he had a girl to warm his bed, but flirting and kissing were fun too. If he were hold bred, he's probably be more reserved and of course less wild and not a man who liked to party.
"42nd? Really? I was Beynath by Tlanth, the 43rd. One turn apart, our dragons are. I'd feel a little guilty if you were from my clutch and I had yet to formally meet you." He smiled then, glad his memory wasn't as short as his dragon's. "My parents were estactic, I think, I don't really know them that well. But they were both fortunate enough to be riders."

She laughed, "I came with some of those morals. And then Ragoth decided to chase a Rising Green, and he succeeded." She smiled, "Its amazing how much just a little taste of enjoyment quickly dissipated any silly morals."
"Really? I'm surprised we didn't see each other as weyrlings, though with training and concentrating on the dragons, its not really that big of a surprise." She was also a different person during that time, as she had to ignore taunts and did still hold those silly morals.
She shook her head slightly, though she did not think it was a bad thing, she just didn't understand it, "I couldn't imagine taking the time off from Riding to have a child. Its a good thing women do, but I just can't imagine making that choice. But then, I don't fully understand how my mother took time off from running to have me or my siblings, so I guess its more a matter of I'm not a very maternal person."

Sh'ran grinned, "That's why it's good to be a man. We don't have to take off to have children. Though I think maternity leave should be a welcome break some day." He chuckled, "Some times I think it's why my mother decided to have me. She slipped up, as some women do, and found that she was pregnant. And, never having a child, decided to not between and have me. My father didn't seem to care whether he had kids or not, but I imagine like any man, he wanted sons and daughters to carry on after he was gone."
Was that not his own sentiment, and the sentiment of many riders? With more women off greens and, in this case, blues, there would more willing mates and lovers, not to mention mothers. It was not that he thought females were bad riders, he just could see that point. Not that he would tell any woman that, they'd slap him for sure. Not like Sh'ran wanted to wake up next to a man, though there were ways to get around that, like two pairs of lovers.
