It had been a long, frustrating day, and R'net was looking forward to blowing off some steam to Mari- and asking her advice on what to do with a pair of wing members that would not stop sniping at each other. It was making Drills a true pain, and even Tor was beginning to remember how often he had to reprimand each of the dragon pairs.
The Bronzerider had taken the time to change his clothes, and bathe- and pick out nice, comfortable, warm, cloth clothes. Simple, and in a dark brown, the man did not present a striking figure at all- he looked rather plain and confident. He was certainly not what the Gold candidates were drooling over, but you could still tell he was a bronzerider- even lacking the shoulder knots.
Lost in thought, and developing a slight headache, the man did not realize he wasn't heading to the Retired Weyrwoman's quarters- but the current Weyrwoman's room instead. His soft soled shoes making little noise on the cold stone ground, he arrived at the closed door. Though it normally would have clicked that Mari always left her door open, R'net's mind said nothing, probably trusting that someone had come to see her and shut the door.
With a soft tap on the door, R'net open it, poked his head inside, and called out, "Have you got a minute?"

Elisha kept herself busy with Weyrwoman's tasks all day. The last few sevendays since D'rian had been gone, when she came home to her weyr at night, she made it a practice to shut the door. It was her down time to think and plan. She was still stuck in her past by night, wondering if sending D'rian was the right thing to do. She loved him, and probably always would. But she could never forgive him for that last act. Elisha had been ready to promise him the world, to make time for him, to please him, for she loved him with all her heart. He was quiet and sensitive, strong and beautiful. And then he had that hussie, and she snapped. He was the one she trusted most beside Marisol, and he broke her heart. Sure it could have been her fault, and sure, some people blamed her for the dissolving of their union, but she was so confused by it sometimes. She still thought about him daily, and then cursed herself for not moving on. There were not enough distractions in the day to help her out.
As she was wondering about if she did the right thing there was a soft tap at her door. She didn't even hear it. She didn't even recognise the speaker when he first spoke, she merely said as a reflex, "Yeah, just come in,"
That was when she looked up and saw the bronzerider. She needed no prodding by Adeloth, she knew he was Marisol's grandson. She was startled a little, why would he be needing her? Perhaps he wanted to make nice before the gold flew again? "R'net? Oh, I didn't realise it was you," She piled up the record skins she had been working on earlier. "What is it?"
Adeloth was curled up on her stone couch, tail curled around her nose, and her eyes in the riders' direction. His does not sit with me But Elisha paid her no heed.

"Thanks Ma- Elisha? Ah- I mean, Weyrwoman. My duty to you and your Queen."
The tall man blinked in shock. And then blinked again, realizing his mistake. He'd had problems with remembering that Mari was retired, but he usually caught himself before hitting the hallway, and then he could move and go see the other Telgar Goldrider. It would do him no good, however, to piss off the overly emotional Weyrwoman by telling her that he'd forgotten she was Weyrwoman again, and really needed to see his Grandmother.
He'd already taken two steps into the room, but now paused awkwardly. He wasn't good friends, or even friends at all with Elisha, and could hardly take a seat without being asked. Nor could he just barge into her offices without having a reason of some sort. Eyes flickering rapidly, he took in the way the office looked(rather different than when Mari had it), and the piles of hides and things on her desk. Making up a white lie faster than most people thought a Trivenian could, he readied himself to answer Elisha’s basic question.
"I was wondering if you needed any help." He left it as ambiguous as he could, so that the could cement details into his head before speaking.

She looked at him with a little suspicion. He had looked a little lost at first, and she put two and two together. Unless of course Marisol put him up to it, which was a posibility as well. Marisol was a huge help to Elisha, but perhaps the older woman thought Elisha could use another hand. Well she didn't. And not from this whelp. Her eyes narrowed just a bit and she folded her arms in front of her. She couldn't help it if she was a little suspicious, though it was very likely that he did just want to help.
"You want to help me with the domestic side of the Weyr?" She said with disbelief. Or maybe he wanted to fill in D'rian's void a little? Nope, that couldn't be it. She scolded herself for not trusting him and her features softened. Every one deserved a chance, even spoiled little R'net. "What would you propose, bronzerider?"

He felt very much like a recalcitrant Weyrling, brought before the Weyrling Master to be scolded for his misdeeds. This, would of course, be the part where he was told to explain himself. Well, that wasn't going to be easy, but no matter. Feeling a tad awkward, and very aware of himself, he straightened up, and clasped his hands behind his back. It had been a while since R'net had been expected to stand before a superior, but evidently it wasn't something your body forgot how to handle.
"I," He began clearly, not wanting her to think someone else, or even desperation had driven him to this, "Was thinking about how unfortunate it was that you lacked a junior Weyrwoman." He was careful not to mention her lack of Weyrleader- that was not a jar of tunnelsnakes he wanted to open.
"As I'm a fairly educated rider, I came to offer assistance to you. I'm sure that I, myself, or someone in my acquaintance has more spare time than Milady does, so if you are needing anything, or help with a project of any sort, you should know that our lives are lived waiting to serve you, so Milady only has to bespeak of one us."
Though the thought of adding a flourishing bow at the end was tempting, R'net restrained himself. He actually wanted her to believe this, not to get a good laugh out of it. It was, the man thought to himself, a fairly good idea though it'd been thought of in merely moments.

Elisha had to stop herself from laughing, and succeeded some what by merely smiling. It was at the point of imagining him as a queenrider. Her amused grin soon faded as he seemed seriously interested in helping her out. What was she to say? "Well I do not know of anything off hand that you might want to help me with. I'm sure I could think of something."
She paused to flip through some record skins. It was a tedious task. "Some of these skins need replacing. And the records room is in a disasterous state. You could organize that. I honestly don't know who went through there. . . Can I offer you anything? Water, wine, a comfortable seat?"

"Liquids, hides, and me are a disastrous combination." R'net ruefully admitted. "Though I thank you kindly for the offer. You mentioned the record rooms?"
Well, if he had gotten himself caught with his offer, at least he could do in a place where he was able to move about. However, he'd had prior commitments he'd have to break first. His eyes narrowing slightly in concentration, he reached out to the ever present Torenth.
Tor, give Beynath my best, and tell her that I'll have postpone my chat with Mari, eh? Feeling Torenth's general assent, R'net was sure his bronze would do what he was told. The Bronze's memory was rarely faulty when it came to Beynath- something R'net was immensely proud of.
"Whichever of the tasks is most pressing, however, is the one I'll will attempt first."
R'net was glad he couldn't see himself. It had seemed certain that a Weyrwoman with opposing ideas of the former Weyrwoman would not wish to be around the grandson of said Retired Weyrwoman. R'net had not played his cards well, and was dealing with the consequences now. He would just have to hope that the other bronze riders wouldn't comment on it- he'd either be ridiculed, or hailed as their hero- and neither worked for him.
Still standing straight, R'net waited for Elisha to make up her mind about what she wanted him to do.

So he didn't want anything to drink, no matter, it'd be one less thing to worry about. She just didn't want to be a bad hostess. And he didn't really seem excited about his work. Well she tried to think of something else to make the man do. He offered and she wasn't about to let him off with nothing. But what task could she assign him? Marisol usually worked with the Headwoman, and since he was the woman's pet, perhaps he should assign him a task like that, perhaps with her. Or to give Marisol a little bit of time off, since she was indeed retired. Plus, now that she thought about it, Elisha would rather do the organizing of records herself.
"Well, actually, I'll need to know about what things we need. If you'd go down and talk to the Headwoman and see what they need, that would be great. Tithes will need to be collected soon. So that will need to be done first. If you can't find the Headwoman, just see an assistant or something." Yeah, he could do that. It was simple enough. "Then you'll just have to come and report back. Sounds nice, doesn't it?"

R'net managed to keep himself from letting out a relieved sigh. He didn't want to be in a room with the Weyrwoman- it'd take too much of his time to sort out the mess that night, and the idea of having to come back was even worse. As it was, he knew if he told Mari he'd volunteered to help around with the Headwoman and such- well, she always knew where he'd do the most good.
And if he got sent to do worthwhile things- well, so much the better. And maybe his fellow Wingsecond would finally stop whining about never having something to do, because R'net would finally have a reason to stop being obsessive about every last detail of everything.
All in all, the evening was shaping up. Less free time would also mean less time where the Bronzer would be conspicuously absent from trying to seduce the Weyrwoman. With a smile on his face, the man bowed deeply.
"A lovely idea Milady- a very lovely idea indeed." The woman, suspicious of him as she was, would probably try very hard to figure out what favor she'd done him, but he doubted she'd figure it out. "In which case, I'll leave you be- I know how busy it is to be Weyrwoman."
He stood smoothly, and waited for her to dismiss him, and possibly give him other orders. It wouldn't be the first time he got stuck carrying letters, ledgers, and others of the like.

Elisha looked at him. He was very, very business like with her. So unlike the other bronzeriders. Well, fine then, one less man she had to try to talk to. She thought only to get rid of him. If he likes his task then fine, let him go. But why did he come in the first place? She smirked, maybe he was put up to it? Should she sort of find ways to keep him here, just to make him tense and miserable? But no, that was not Elisha. She wouldn't do that intentionally. How immature.
"Fine, you may go now." Elisha said in a definative tone. It ended conversation and she waved to the door. She wanted to figure him out, but she also just wanted to ignore him at the same time.
