He'd been dreading this. He had done most of his list, trying to avoid coming here. Hoping one of the others would finsih before him and take some of the items off his list. No, he was stuck in this mess. Pyralis wing was always getting in trouble and breaking things.
Rory knocked on the door, and then entered, not really waiting to hear a response. He really couldn't care if the greenrider was there. The bed was broken. Hmmm. That never happened when he was here. If anyone had seen his gray eyes in that moment they would have thought he was about to kill something.
Instead the very frustrated man walked toward a very familiar bed in the hopes of finding out what was wrong with it. He pulled the mattress off of it to see if the problem lie in the structure of the bed then he wondered. What if N'zule's bed was not broken and he had used it as a ploy to get Rory up here. Oh that would only piss him off.

After hearing a knock at his door, N'zule stopped with his bathing. He didn't have the nice bathing set up of some of the bigger Weyrs- this one had something resembling a tub, but water had to be moved manually from one of the major hot water centers around the Weyr. Getting out of his soapy warm water, the man pulled a pair of pants on and came into his man weyr- only to find his ex-lover tearing his bed apart.
"What the shards are you doing?" N'zule questioned, looking pissed. He'd apparently forgotten that he'd requested someone fix his bed(one of the legs was getting wobbly, and he didn't want it to collapse), a week ago.
In fact, all that was going through his mind was that Rory looked good, and that he was destroying a bed that they'd shared for quite some time. Not the thoughts that he wanted to be thinking at all.

Rory was certain as he pushed on the bed it was a leg. After discerning this he heard a familiar voice. Shards! He turned to look at N'zule, knowing it would not be good for him to do so. He could not resist however. There he was, dripping wet and half naked. Rory's gray eyes looked him over appreciatively.
"Did you not request to have your bed fixed?"Rory kept his voice calm knowing that it would do no good right now to make N'zule angry. He turned away then, so that he would stop looking at his ex. The man always looked good. He had been dreading this. It just made him feel all the things he'd carefully hidden away.
"I didn't think you would be home. I'm sorry." He really had hoped that N'zule wouldn't be home. It would ahve made things easier. "I see now that its the leg. Don't worry, your bed will be fine when I'm done with it." As if the Greenrider didn't know that Rory could fix anything.

It bothered him that Rory could be so sharding calm about all of this. N'zule was rarely flustered by anything, but Rory got under his skin like no other- human or otherwise.
Is your mate back? Del's soft voice filled N'zule's head. I miss his nose scratches. The dainty green shifted around on her ledge, trying to look into the main part of the weyr. She'd never been comfortable enough to actually speak to Rory, but that didn't keep her from liking him. Do you think he'll come over and see me? Delith sounded a bit wistful, and continued trying to see what was going on, and why her rider was so upset. She didn't like that- it was unlike him to act like this.
I don't know. N'zule replied, careful not to snap at her. He'll do whatever he wants to do.
"I- I'd forgotten." Feeling exposed, the man turned around, and marched back over to his bathing alcove to grab his shirt. He wasn't going to let Rory hang around his Weyr unsupervised, but he'd be scorched before he did it shirtless. Returning quickly back to the bed, he'd not bothered to properly dry off- water was still collected in his hair, and dripping down his neck.
He didn't bother to start a conversation, and just stared at the back of Rory's neck.

"Well, the Headwoman assigns the chores... so if you'd rather have someone else come from now on, just say so." Rory said it as he unscrewed the foot that was the problem. He saw that it was a little bent and went to work at it without a second thought. He had a job to do and that had to be seperate from his love life at all times. Later he had the feeling he was going to need a lot of wine.
"Is Delith doing well?" Rory asked to keep up conversation, knowing that dragons were the safest topic when it came to dragonmen. Then again, it seemed when it came to this man, anything he did wasn't right.
He fixed the foot before he could say anything else. Then began screwing back into the bed. He would have to remake the bed in the meantime. He wanted to get out of there as soon as possible but at the same time he wanted to stay. He missed this weyr and the man who resided in it. Angry or not, he did miss him.

He asked about me! Del seemed very happy about that, but the little green tended to enjoy any attention. With Del paying close attention to what he said, the greenrider couldn't gloss over the fact that she missed him.
"She misses you. Something about you having good 'nose scratches'." N'zule admitted softly. He looked down, wishing he could remain angry at the handyman. "She'd like it if you said hi. If you have time that is."
The greenrider lapsed into silence again. "We both miss you." He muttered the last part, and doubted the other man had heard it- in fact, he hoped he hadn't. It wasn't N'zule's fault all of this had happened, and it wasn't his fault Rory was unable to deal with the problems of being with a Greenrider.

Rory had the leg on properly, testing the sturdiness with great care. He swallowed hard when he heard N'zule say the dragon missed him. "I wouldn't let her down again if I could prevent it. Besides I'm practically done after this." So he had time to visit. He had more time than he wanted to, now that he realized that this weyr was one of his favorite places.
He fixed the mattress and the coverlets slowly absorbing what was being said slowly. The tall man heard the rider, though just barely. He turned around again. It seemed that N'zule was looking away so Rory took the opportunity to step over to him and answer even more quietly, "I know I shouldn't have come..."
His gray eyes were holding back so many emotions. He missed him more than he could even put into words. It wasn't enough that he had to be there but his treacherous body wanted the rider and now. He was resisting his own lust, though it wasn't simply attraction that made them close. Rory was certain he would never be happier or more depressed than he was when he was with N'zule. That was love. Good and bad.

When N'zule looked up again, Rory's gray eyes were staring into his own. Rory's eyes had always been more intense, more focused then his own eyes. He shouldn't have come. Rory's knew it, N'zule knew it, and Delith probably knew it somehow.
He was unable to keep up eye contact, and looked down, defeated. This, to put it mildly, was torture. His mouth was suddenly dry, and it was all he could do to keep himself from pulling Rory close and refusing to let go. His hands clenched at his side, and gritted his teeth.
"Delith still wants to see you." The Greenrider choked out, moving away from the other man, and heading towards her ledge. He stayed as far away from the other man as he could. Rory shouldn't have come- he should have avoided this at all costs. He was just lucky Delith's next cycle wasn't until next week, or this could have been even worse.

Rory wasn't stupid, though drudges might have that reputation. He knew that N'zule was taking this as hard as he was. Why neither of them could admit they were wrong, he didn't quite understand. Rory should apologize but he wasn't so sure that he was wrong and he knew that N'zule would just keep treating him the way he had before... and he would have to leave him again.
"Right. Delith." He shook his head and followed N'zule at a distance. He walked up tot he dainty, little green. "Hello beautiful." He said with a smile. Extending his hand to her face he scratched her nose, just the way she liked. "Delith you are radiant. Make sure you take care of him." He indicated N'zule, though he had said the words loud enough for the rider to have heard him.
"I'm sorry Delith but I have to go." He was going to go and his intention was to never come back, hence he was saying goodbye to a dragon who would probably not understand what he meant.

Delith was pleased. All to often she was sidelined in N'zule's relationships, though she knew he tried to include her. And the fact that Rory was complimenting her did not hurt his case with her. When he began to speak with her, she realized that it would be a lot easier to speak directly to him- but the idea made her nervous. She'd never spoken to any other human but Hers, and starting now would probably be a bad idea.
Pressing her head against his hand(not to hard, just to show that she was appreciating the scratches), she ran through her options. Thought the Green sometimes had trouble placing things together, she realized that the reason her rider had been on edge lately had sometime to do with his mate not being by his side. So, to her reasoning, keeping the other man from leaving was a good idea.
Mine, tell him that I'd much rather he looked after you. He seems to do a good job of it. Delith's mind voice was firm. Though only a green, she was used to getting her way for the small things, and doubted N'zule would defy her over this.
N'zule was staring at Rory the way a starving man looked at food, and knew it. He knew his expression was tinged with desperation, and wished he could be taking all of this as well as the other man seemed too. When Delith spoke to him, it took a little bit for him to process what she was saying. Rory's pronouncement that he was leaving was taking up a bit more of his mind then he would have liked. Green eyes unfocusing, he put some thought ito what he was thinking.
Del, that's not a good idea. Trust me, I know it won't end well.
The green, sensing that by the time she convinced her rider he was wrong, the other man would be out of their weyr, took matters into her own hands. Focusing hard, and feeling scared and nervous, she managed to say one thing to her riders mate, a man who she'd come to truly like.
Stay.
Her mind voice was soft, nervous, but warm, even loving. Her rider might be a tad wherry brained, but that didn't keep her from seeing what was best for him. The green attempted to wrap her neck around Rory, and keep him from leaving.
“Delith!” N’zule reprimanded sharply. “If he wants to go, that’s his business, not your, nor”, his voice grew softer, “Nor mine. Let him go.”

Stay.
Rory was about as shocked as he could be that Delith had spoken to him. It certainly kept him in his place for a moment. Though the drudge had called the Weyr home his entire life this was only the second time a dragon and spoken to him. He stared at the dragon for a long moment. Wondering what could have possessed her to say anything. It was then that he realized she had craned her neck about him.
Odd behavior for a dragon, very odd and in some way it was flattering to know that the dragon even thought of him this much. Then again he knew the way dragons thought. She would be thinking about N'zule not him. Maybe the man wanted him to stay but was being stubborn? His thoughts seemed to be answered by the greenrider in his next sentance.
"I can't go on like this..." He said, almost immediately wishing he hadn't. Rory didn't like admitting weakness. "What do you want, N'zule? First you want me out of here and now you seem to be fine with my presence. If you wish me gone, I will leave." The rest did not need saying. If N'zule wanted him to stay then Rory would consider it. Anything would be better than the agony he had been in lately.

Delith shot N'zule a look that could only be described as dirty, and removed herself from Rory. Deciding that if her silly rider didn't want her help, he wouldn't get it, the small green removed herself from the Weyr, going in search of blues and browns who would flatter her.
N'zule was left alone, without the comforting bulk of Delith's hide to support him- alone facing Rory, and Rory's question. He was scared- cornered, and having trouble thinking.
Did he want Rory to stay?
Of course- the man was perfect for him.
But did he honestly want to put up with his drunken behaviors? Or his constant flirtations with everyone? Or the way the man refused to be emotional with him(the fact that most of the times he was emotional was when he was looking to pick a fight didn't seem to phase him)!
Or the way he'd started acting after Flights?
It might have been all just N'zule's imagination, but it was still there, nibbling at his brain. The man open his mouth, and ran his fingers through his hair. He closed his mouth, and returned his hand to his side.
The greenrider didn't know what he wanted. There was no way he could answer Rory's question.

Rory knew it would take some thought but when Delith left he began to doubt that there was anything to stay for. N'zule wanted him to not drink so much but he wouldn't compromise nor did he understand. Rory drank to calm his mind and all too often to drink away days when N'zule had flights. Those were all very very bad days. It wasn't that Rory blamed him, it was that he was jealous. All he could think about was the fact that someone else had what he wanted. His eyes were on the greenrider but his thoughts were elsewhere.
Sometimes he blamed himself, if he had only impressed a blue dragon, things would be perfect. He wouldn't necessarily have to share and he wouldn't need the wine and... life would be incredibly dull. That was the truth of it. If the two of them didn't have anything to fight about it would be very dull indeed.
Too much time was passing, Rory had said what he needed to say. The ball was in N'zule's court. All he had to do was say one word either way. Rory was getting the feeling it would be best if he left so he walked off the ledge and back into the weyr. His walk was neither fast nor slow. The steps it would take for him to reach the door were few, after all he was 6 feet tall. With every step it seemed an eternity flew by and with each moment of silence his heart broke a little more.

N'zule hit the side of his Weyr with his hand. This was too sharding difficult- too many choices. Having never been much a leader, the idea of making choices in such a short time was always hard. Rory should have known that- the man should have given him more time to think, allowed him to process everything.
But Rory was leaving, and N'zule didn't know what to do. He couldn't allow the man to leave- that was the only thing he couldn't do.
"Don't go!"
It was a wounded cry, full of fear and self doubt. N'zule wouldn't allow this relationship to die. Racing after the taller man, he continued.
"Just don't leave me." The idea of being left, alone in his small Weyr was more than the Greenrider could take. He hadn't thought out what he was doing, and this probably wouldn't end well, but he had to take that chance.

Rory turned at the greenrider's call. N'zule was racing after him? The tall man wouldn't let himself believe it. At least not until the rider was before him. There weren't many things Rory could say. If he said he would never leave him it would be false for Rory had done so before and both of them had misgivings about this. HE could say he was leaving him forever but that too would be wrong. Rory didn't want to leave.
He didn't want to hurt anymore. Most of all he didn't want to be alone. Today was a bad day for him to be alone with one person whom he loved and hated simulataneously. He should not have taken the extra time to look N'zule over but as much as he hated to admit it, the green eyed man was extremely attractive.
"I won't leave you here alone...at least not right now." He didn't want to make any promises. Rory moved very close to the greenrider and pulled him into a sweet hug, more like one would give to an old friend than a lover. He didn't want to cross any boundaries but he needed to hold someone and be held for just a moment. Rory just hoped N'zule did not overreact.
