He had never hear it put quite that way. Perhaps he was more than most people could handle. Part of that was his constant pranks and the other was the risks he was willing to take. Of course his personality lended him the impatience for threads return. He really couldn't wait!
K'dyn smiled, "Thats nothing. You should be glad you don't know me too well." For instance what could possibly make someone want to burn your bed? K'dyn was far from well behaved. He had no fear. That of course led to foolish behaviors and dangerous stunts. He didn't value life the way that some others of the Weyr did. Perhaps it was because there were so many children he grew up with. It just seemed to him that there were plenty of people.
"Most people don't use admirable to describe it. I believe one of my fellow wingriders called it foolhardy. Many would also say it was stupidity. Taking unecessary risks, well, I guess thats just how some people live. I for one like the thrill of doing something that most people would be afraid to try."

She nodded thoughtfully, "Yes, I am not sure I'd like to be at the butt of your pranks." Gwyn smiled then, she was amused by him none-the-less. Very different from the Triveni men she knew. It was the difference of night and day, actually. No doubt that he enjoyed life though, and that was good, right?
"Perhaps it was a poor choice of words, on my part? I don't know you well enough to say for sure, but certainly for me, it is good to be adventerous. I'm sort of meek myself most of the time." She remembered growing up and one of her male cousins, the younger one, giving her the nickname of Gwyn the Meek. or Gwyn the Mild. Whereas the others were things like 'the Brave' and 'the Strong' and 'the Great.' Perhaps being able to take risks was so different from Gwyn was why she found it something to be admired.
She smiled good naturedly, "So what was the greatest prank you ever pulled, Zahra?" She called him by his wing name.

He wondered if Gwen did anything fun. By Faranth's Egg these Triveni wingriders were so stiff. Again he was glad to be part of Zahra Wing. There was no way of knowing if the Triveni's were simply afraid to do things that were risky or if they held their lives at a higher value than those in Zahra.
"Adventurous, perhaps is better. Though honestly its just I have no fear. Your fear of what might happen holds you back. What might happen, usually won't and so I do not concern myself with it. I suppose that you are the wiser. Fear is not a bad thing. It makes us stronger." HE for one had the hardest time sleeping after the first trip he went Between. It was the only thinkg he had ever feared and he was long over it.
"The Best prank is always the next one." He almost laughed at his own words. It really ought to be Zahra wing's definitive phrase.

"Fear is not a bad thing. It makes us stronger."
"Yes I agree that fear can inhibit but it also teaches you. Like how some one might fear dangerous things or situations. If you fear it, you'll try to avoid it and therefore avoid potential death. But like I said there is the flip side of being ruled by your fears as well. Fortunatly I do not know any one to that extreme." She smiled a little bit, thinking that perhaps she was rambling and annoying him. He seemed like he wanted to get out there and do exciting things. Talking wasn't that exciting.
"The Best prank is always the next one."
Gwyn grinned, "Ah yes, I bet. Very clever. Bigger and more elaborate each time? Or does it matter?" It was mostly a retorical question, a musing out loud, but she wouldn't mind him answering.
"Where are you from, by the way?" She asked, suddenly curious. She wasn't one to ask so many questions, but for some reason she was intrigued, and asked away.

"Not necessarily bigger or more elaborate. Its interesting to see who gets pranked and how they react." The Brownrider thought about his next prank. "Plus its fun just planning it, getting the timing down and watching something I've created, suceed. " K'dyn loved the mischieviousness of his wing. To pull off a prank, one had to be meticulate, imaginative and clever.
"My genius could only have spawned from the Weyr. I was born here and have lived here all my 21 turns. My mother is a drudge here, my father is a journeyman smith. I've not spent much time with either. After all the Weyr is my family, more a family than any parentage can provide." Afterall, the Weyr provided for him in ways that his family would not have been able to.
"And you? What is your past like, to produce one so modest?" He was curious about people in general. The more you knew about them, the more pranks you could pull on them. Perhaps he coudl pull a fairly innocent one on the greenrider.

"And you? What is your past like, to produce one so modest?"
She gave him a small smile, "I grew up a relative to a Holder. Though I was a ward, I was not exposed to much growing up. My parents are riders, actually, but they had their dragons to care for and my father's mother wanted to care for us herself. After she passed, my uncle and his wife cared for us. So actually, I was born here but raised in a hold. I think that pretty much explains my demure nature." Yes, her aunt often called her a demure or highly docile child. Very mildly mannered, not loud or stubborn like the woman's own children.
"I was actually on a visit with my parents when I was here for a hatching and Impressed. It was pretty lucky, because I hadn't really thought that I would ever ride, I wanted to, but I figured it wasn't in my cards." Her uncle had planned to marry her to a some cotholder, but fortunately Gwynhaver had escaped that fate by Impressing Aurath.

K'dyn laughed. "I had thought you were Hold raised. Interesting for a greenrider though." He turned his gaze to the hearth. Nothing was really as he expected. He wondered whether other people found that to be true often. "So long as you are happy with your life I don't see how anyone can blame you for impressing."
Afterall, even if he were Weyr raised no one in his family had dragonrider blood. It was almost funny how she had dragonriding parents and didn't live at the Weyr her entire life, and he didn't and lived here. "Humans never know. Thats where Dragons are smart. They know who they want and will not stop at making that person their life mate." He remembered Ortath, always so determined.
K'dyn might be a prankster but he too was determined to get the things he wanted. He often wondered what had possessed his much calmer dragon to impress to him. Upon thinking he found that he and his dragon were more alike than different.

"Humans never know. Thats where Dragons are smart. They know who they want and will not stop at making that person their life mate."
"Yes, I whole heartedly agree. Even when I was not standing, Aurath found me. Quite amazing, really, I was caught completely unaware." The greenrider mused, her eyes staring into the fire. With an idle hand she twirled a lock of her brown hair. Her Impressing was really amazing, and for a long time she was frustrated that she was not cut for greenriding. She even thought Aurath might have chosen wrong. I did not choose wrong. Aurath constantly reminded her. But Gwyn had grown up with holder ideals. She had been shy and innocent in nearly every way. Riding had been a shock to her gentle system, yet the chance was one she would never want to give up.
Aurath had seemed so different than Gwynhaver, and yet they were the same. It was odd, but true. Aurath was Gwyn with out censorship, with out limitations. They were truely mirror images of eachother, though one would really have to know both to realize it. She said with a grin, "Interesting indeed. It is a good word to put it, Brownrider."

"Wingrider Gwyn, I'm afraid I ahve lost track of the candlemarks. I must head back to my weyr before I get no sleep at all tonight. If you wish I can escort you back to your Wing first?" He wasn't exactly fond of being around women but if this was going to keep him honorable so be it. He wouldn't be the cause for her to be alone and then misused.
K'dyn wasn't particularly bothered by the thoughts that he was probably just making the greenrider think he was a nice guy. He didn't mind being thought of that way so long as the woman didn't form any attachment to him. He was free of the entire female sex and he intended to keep it that way.

"Ah, yes, me too." She stood slowly, and brushed her skirt. It was just a little quirk of hers, nothing really needed to be brushed off. He then asked to escort her back and her first reaction was 'no' but she paused to think about it. She was a bit skiddish when it came to men, though it was true that she admired the ones who showed her kindnesses. Gwyn nodded, "You may escort me. Thanks."
She really didn't need to be taken by an more unfriendly man. She trusted K'dyn enough to take her back. He didn't seem like the kind of guy that would want to take advantage of her. She started for the door, "It's really nice of you to offer."

K'dyn gave her a smile. "Alright then. You're on my way home anyway." Trying to make her feel more comfortable about a situation that he was fairly certain neither of them were comfortable with. He could mention that he didn't like women wandering the Weyr alone at night but most women would find that degrading. He didn't dislike women, he just didn't want to get caught up in any of that romantic crap.
"Oh, its nothing. I escort my sister home every so often too. Its nice to have someone to walk with. The corridors can be a bit creepy this time of night." Sure, that was the best reason he could come up with that wouldn't seem like a gentlemanly thing to do. If only his mother had raised him wrong.

"Oh, yes." When he had mentioned taking her back was not that far from his place. She felt like she was in good hands, he seemed genuine. She relaxed a littler, her once tense shoulders slid into a comfortable position. It had been so foolish to be out late at night, especially a young woman like her, who was not interested in the kind of trouble that came with darkness.
"Oh, its nothing. I escort my sister home every so often too. Its nice to have someone to walk with. The corridors can be a bit creepy this time of night." He had said.
She nodded, "Mmm hmm." A little bit more glad he was along. She shivered in voluntary, remembering that they were very dark and creepy and she didn't want to travel alone. Yet sitting around and thinking had sounded so good at the time. "Again, thanks. I am a very foolish woman some times." Or all of the time. She added silently to herself.

Now he would have none of that. She oughtn't put herself down like that. "Foolish? I wouldn't say that. Why shouldn't women be as safe as men in the Weyr? Its all a bit silly really. I mean you hold the same position as a man and therefore should not be expected to think that things are different for you than a man." He was being reasonable. As much as he didn't want any female (or male for that matter) entanglements, he did think women were just as capable of fighting thread.
"No more putting yourself down, Gwyn. Ortath and I won't have it. As a friend , I think you shoudl focus on what you do well. Do not dwell so much on things that are not strong points for you and also if the reason your not in your weyr has to do with a man, please do him a favor and just break his heart now, theres no use putting it off." He knew how these things went. Less time spent on the relationship, less emotion invested, less heartbreak...

She blushed as he tried to reassure her. Few people tried to, few other than her sister, who resided at the Weyr. Gwyn wasn't one to vocalize her complaints much, but she was one to make little comments that hinted she took blame. It was mostly because she figured she should. Though other times, like this one, she felt she needed to have an excuse. Sometimes she really did need to think about things and not be so impulsive.
At his next words she blushed more, fortunately it was dark, maybe he wouldn't notice. But, Friend? How flattering. She found that even though he was a guy she didn't mind. But when he mentioned a man in her weyr, her eyes flashed on him, thinking of what she had said for him to know. Did she tell him that? For some reason she could not remember, probably said something in passing. Then her emotions must be very obvious. She said quietly, "I doubt it would be his heart I'd be breaking."
Perhaps why Gwyn was putting off telling T'ron to leave her was because she was putting off breaking her own heart again. She was stuck in a rutt on this one. She couldn't just order Aurath to stop her flights. Aurath would still fly, and would be caught and Gwyn would be left with the rider. Though why she was so hesitant about the subject was beyond her. She wouldn't have the opportunity to marry for love back home, and flights seldom had to do with love in the first place. She should really toughen up.
"But thank you for the advice. I appreciate it." Some how she felt that she could act on the advice. She really didn't want to string or be strung along. T'ron would have to go. And tomorrow.
