--100 Turns Ago--
Only one word can describe the Southern Weyr: beautiful. The lush environment is perfectly preserved because of a very small type of creature that lives underground. Dubbed 'grubs' by their Creators, these things eat the Thread as soon as it falls onto the ground. The Weyr cherished these grubs, and loved what the grubs could do: keep the Weyr and surrounding land green even after a Threadfall.
--50 Turns Ago--
Event: H'yun's bronze Grenth catches Jey's gold Valvieth. The result is 20 eggs.
Unfortunately, the grubs were forgotten somewhere from 70 to 55 Turns ago. In that time the poor species underwent a horrible sickness. In the end less than half of the grubs had survived. When the Thread started to fall yet again, the people of the Southern Weyr thought they were safe. Little did they know the grubs weren't protecting them again. What they saw after the Fall was complete decastation. Thead Colonies had eatenn away at the green around them. The grubs had tried to eat the Thread, but had succeeded in killing only a fraction of it. Dire measures had to be taken.

Events: K'miir's bronze Beeth catches Hallen's gold Zireath. The resulting clutch has 14 eggs.
"Are you ready to release them?" Hallen asked, her hand ready to release her precious cargo.
K'miir, Hallen's weyrmate and the rider of bronze Beeth, nodded, "yes, ready when you are."
Hallen nodded, "Okay, on my mark. One, two, three, MARK!"
At the same time both Weyrleaders let go of their buckets, spilling close to one hundred grubs into the ground.
"Let's hope those grubs take to the dirt." K'miir remarked.
"Yes, lets. We still have ten more buckets to drop." Hallen stated as K'miir pulled his weyrmate closer to him. She smiled slyly and pushed herself away after giving him a swift kiss. "Let's hurry."
--2 Turns Ago--
Events: K'miir's bronze Beeth flies Hallen's gold Zireath again! The resulting clutch is 25 eggs, but 10 are destroyed. Young Aden Impressed to gold Leoth.
The grubs were taking to the soil, but there was not enough for the grubs to eat all of the thread. It had been discovered that the golds could eat firestone and it would not affect their fertility. It was also discovered that gold Zireath's last clutch carried mutations: a whole lot of them. Only two eggs were the normal colors: one the gold and the other a blue. Each of the other eggs held a different color, each color of a rainbow. One of the eggs, as said before, hatched a gold. The gold promplty bonded to a young Aden saying her name was Leoth.
Only two months later almost the whole of the Weyr came down with a strange illness that even the Healers got. Soon later the Weyrleader died, and his bronze betweened. Only five minutes after that, the Weyrwoman died, and her dragon bugled in terror and pain before she too went between. This left Aden and only a handfull of others at the Weyr.
It was then that Aden renamed Southern Weyr to New Southern Weyr. The name Southern Weyr seemed to no longer fit the description of the Weyr.
