Family: Berigar, father, 62, he was a miner at Lemos Hold, working with the precious jade that is abundant in Lemos. Berigar was a very thickly muscled man used to hard work in the mines with heavy hammers and an assortment of other tools. Berigar was born and raised in Lemos and was a miner, just like his father before him, and the father before him. He is a very traditional man in the sense that he does not often accept new ideas or new technologies because if it worked in the past, it’s good enough for him. He is not a very kind man, for the years have been hard on him, and it turns out he can't deal with a stressful family life. He is very biased by sex, and believes nothing a woman can do will ever exceed a man. He was never afraid to discipline his children. Berigar’s family had no shortage of sons and daughters. Nelshaya, mother, 59, was a weaver who had come to Lemos from Southern Boll Hold in hopes of learning new techniques. She had planned on going back to her home hold to hopefully seek advancement in her craft. Nelshaya’s family was never very big, in fact, it would seem that her family had a lot of fertility problems, unlike her husband’s family. Nelshaya was easily wooed by pretty words and kind touches. She is a somewhat gullible woman, but one with a very kind heart. Nelshaya is not a rough woman by any means, and genuinely cares for every creature in need. Nelshaya was very passionate about her work, and was a very skilled weaver. She enjoyed being out with the herds on the high plains, and she loved to experiment with new dye colors. Nelshaya raised her children with a kind and gentle, yet guiding hand. Elisha’s maternal aunts are all in Southern Boll Hold. Her siblings in order of birth:

Elisha has only one surviving sibling, a brother, who is a dimglow, Nevon, 30. All the rest of her siblings were miscarried, still born, or died in infancy. If you trace Elisha’s maternal tree, going up her mother’s side, and her mother before that, you might see that a bunch of children often die of complications before or shortly after birth. Nevon survived, but not with out a cost. Nevon is very slow, he will most likely be nothing more than a drudge for the rest of his days.

--Elirian, son, 7 turns old. He is the brightness in the dark for her. He is intelligent, and her only child. She does not get to see him often because her first duty goes to the Weyr and her dragon. Elirian is in the good hands of Weyr nannies. His father is D'rian, rider of Bronze Deluth, now in Ista.

--Vrakish, son, newborn. Healthy little boy. His father is V'rak, rider of bronze Bristith.

Appearance: She has sandy hair, parts brown like the rich earth and blends with hair colored golden like rays of sun through a window on a warm morning. It falls down her back in straight locks; she often puts it in messy up do’s. And while she used to be teased because of her dirty-blonde threads, she takes pride in them and brushes it a hundred strokes every night. Her face is free from freckle, mar, acne and scar. However she does have a light brown birth mark right under her left ear lobe. She has a squarish jaw that is well defined and a nose that has a very small bump in the bridge but is otherwise long and straight. Her nose is a bit down turned and thin, though not bulbous in shape. Her eyes are almond shaped and hazel-y green. Her eyelashes are long and sparse, not awe-inspiring, but decent.

As a child, Elisha was never plump like perhaps Lord Holders’ children, but she was thin and growing like a weed as any other hill child does. She grew up and blossomed, though her curves might be subtle she was still very much a woman. Her figure never bothered her too much, however she often wondered if she would look prettier with a heavier bosom and curvier hips. Elisha has square hands, which is the tradional sign of the worker. She may be thin, but she is a heartier girl, and not dainty or too skinny. Perhaps a good word would be ‘average.’ Shuffling around a record room with the copying of records as a task, Elisha was never muscled or athletic or buff. Not that she minds. She was never preoccupied with the opposite sex too much.

Elisha has loved vibrant colors since she was a little girl. She has very few clothing items of vibrant colors. Mostly she owns drab robes and dresses of earth tones. She likes to wear soft slippers rather than sandals, though back in the plains she always wore sandals. Elisha does not wear tight clothing, but rather fitted to make her body seem modest yet feminine.



Personality: Elisha is a sweet girl at times, and she loves children, though she doesn’t expect to have any of her own, thanks to her mother’s families’ fertility problems. Elisha will flirt, however she will not take men too seriously if they want more than friendship. The girl has very few problems conversing, and enjoys long talks about all sorts of topics. She loves to have deep conversations with good friends best. Elisha is definitely an intellectual sort, who likes to read and write and think, however she does like to dance and have fun with friends. Elisha has no patience for randy men, and is quick to block forward advances. She likes to play games with men, but very few will get very far if they are not cunning or clever enough for her.

Elisha is compassionate towards the unfortunate like her brother, and vowed once to herself that if she were ever in the right position that she would give to good charity. However she has never gotten prosperous, so she can only offer kind words. Elisha has a certain distrust toward men, and has vowed to never marry. This does not mean that she hates commitment, she is rather fond of the Weyr's form of commitment-weyrmates. If you don't like a man, then you are not forced to stay with him because of marriage, yet there is a recognizable commitment there.

Elisha is not exactly a frivolous sort, thanks to the sobering truths of her past, but she does think that merry activity is needed to get the mind off of things that are too stressful. She believes that gathers are good and playing is good, just as long as you do something productive as well. On the other side of the frivolous spectrum, Elisha is not particularly vain, however she finds herself competeing with other girls, and she finds herself looking at her reflection more than she did back at Telgar Hold.

Also because of her past, responsibility has laid a heavy hand on her. Elisha learned at the age of 13 to take initiative to take control of the situation and make sure she and her brother could survive. Elisha has watached over her brother most carefully until they got to Telgar Hold when she had more time to herself. Elisha had been deterimed to live once her father left her and then when her mother had died, and so she's not about to quit now. She believes that everyone should have a sense of responsibility, and particularly when it comes to children. Blame it on her hold upbringing, or even the fact that her father denied himself of such a responsibility, but Elisha now makes it hard for women to stand. Riding is hazardous, and the fact of the matter is, it takes a woman longer to do her part in reporducing. Elisha is not anti-feminist, but really cares for the Weyr, despite some anti-Elisha sentiments people have told her about. She believes that with women off greens, the Weyr can protect and nurture a valuable resource-new life. Because of Elisha's survival-is-strictly-business attitude, she might come off as a prude, even possessing the equivilant of Victorian morals. She is firmly in the belief that she will be helping Pern's population in the long run. If a girl Impresses a green from the stands or while the said girl is standing for a queen, there is nothing she can do about it. However, she is not about to let a girl openly stand for a fighting dragon, and she opposes really young candidates. Maturity is very key to survival, and she usually doesn't let twelve turn old candidates stand, even though in the past they were let to. Candidates standing more recently will find themselves fourteen to twenty one turns of age.

Appearance: She is a large queen, with wide wingspan and strong legs. She is not lithe, but a thicker, formidable body size. Her gold is from shades from brilliant yellow gold to a darker red gold.

Personality: Adeloth is pretty aggreable if your name is Elisha. She has a rather smug attitude, and loves that now all the bronzes are hers. She expects to be doted upon, and she expects compliments. Not that if you compliment you'll be favored by her. It's your duty, especially if you are a bronze, to compliment her and admire her. She only notices if you don't. Adeloth loves to sun herself and loves to be surrounded by bronzes.

Adeloth flirts, though not so shamlessly as greens. She resigns herself to flirt only occasionally, though she likes to converse with bronzes. Adeloth has nothing against, Beynath, and is very polite to her. She is never openly hostile or aggressive, only in times right before flight. It bothers her that a certain bronze is more loyal to a retired gold than herself, and almost a little jealous of her old mother for that fact.

History: Adeloth has flown 10 times, and has not been caught by the same bronze all 10 times. The first two, she was caught by Sventh, then Deluth, and then Galdenth, and then Deluth unitl recently. She adored all of them, except maybe Galdenth. He was mature and strong, but Hers had strong negative feelings twords Galdenth's. Adeloth has risen once each turn, and it's nearing time again. . . Elisha doesn't know what Adeloth will do with out Deluth, but he was just a bronze, there were plenty more. As she told Hers at the time, Deluth was not the only bronze. There are replacements.

History: Nelshaya was a very talented weaver, one of the few women left in the craft, for the others all left for families and childbearing, and she had been inclined to travel. Nelshaya had heard of the wool in Lemos, and had wanted to go there. Of course Lemos also had the Sky Brooms that she wanted to see. It also helped that Nelshaya’s uncle on her father’s side lived in Lemos as a miner. Nelshaya finally made it to Lemos to stay with her Uncle Wel and his wife Manni. They had four children, and for a while Nelshaya was content to help her aunt around the home and look after the children. Nelshaya, at this time 23, had no want or desire for children. Nelshaya saw how her mother struggled with loosing children and miscarriages, and did not want that burden of loss. Yet the young woman took a liking to her nieces and nephew, and even for the first time, desired to have her own family. She had spoken of that want only once to her uncle’s wife, and she delightedly told her husband, who set Nelshaya up with a young miner named Berigar. He was well settled into his craft, destined for master hood one day, and all around a sturdy man. Or at least that’s what they thought. Berigar was 26 already, and had not sought out a wife. He wanted fine sons like his brothers had. He wanted a home full of future miners, and with one look at Nelshaya, who looked exotic because of the climate difference of Lemos and Souther Boll, decided that she would fulfill his desires. Nelshaya, happily deluded that this was what she wanted, could see no reason why she should not marry Berigar. He already was settled, had a steady job, and was a decent man. Within the turn they were married, a huge affair because Berigar’s entire family was invited, and everything seemed to go well. Another turn later, when Nelshaya was 25, she delivered a baby boy, but he was small and sickly, he lived for only six months. The pair was grieved, but not discouraged, for Nelshaya was pregnant again. When she was 26, she delivered a baby girl, who this time was a round, healthy child. This child was named Elisha. Nelshaya was greatly tired from having two hard births, and did not get pregnant again until she was half way through her 28th turn. At 29 she delivered a baby boy, who was small, but looked healthy. He was named Nevon, and Berigar celebrated heavily that night. He even got Nelshaya her own herd of goats to sheer and keep on the high plains of Lemos. Nelshaya’s family moved back to Southern Boll. Now the young mother had no family left in Lemos but her children. Nelshaya had a miscarriage, and then a still born boy. Now Nelshaya was 34 and less likely to have healthy children. It was also around this time that Nevon seemed to be lagging behind the other boys in his age group. He did not speak, and he did not seem to comprehend anything that was said to him. This was much different from their daughter, who spoke a million miles a minute and who already was devolping more sophisticated words for her age group. Elisha was the right weight and height for her age, and showed an interest in many things, and especially jade. Tiny Nevon was seen by healers who proclaimed that he didn’t have all his mental glows, but that Elisha was just fine. Nelshaya seemed to be totally barren by her 35th turn and Berigar was openly displeased with his woman. He hit Nelshaya when she didn’t do exactly what he wanted or if she stood up for Nevon. He also hit Nevon for not understanding commands even though the boy could not help it. Berigar was displeased with his son, and wondered how he could have sired such an inadequate boy. Nevon didn’t even say his first word until he was nearly 7 turns old. Even then, Nevon rarely looked any one in the eye with those brilliant blue eyes of his, nor did he speak much or very intelligently when he did.

It was then that the little family got the shock of their life. Berigar abandoned them. Nelshaya had all but given up her craft to become a mother and wife, and only had a tiny loom to work with. Nelshaya’s father had been a beastcrafter, so she knew a little about it, and since she already had her goats, she would have to become a full time herder to hopefully support her young daughter and son. Times were hard while Nelshaya and Elisha took turns caring for the herd, or Nevon. Nevon’s communication problems were hard to deal with, and they could not send him to the crafts. Nelshaya did not want to give him up just yet to drudgery. Nelshaya, who should have been one of the greatest weavers in Southern Boll, was forced to make meager garments to clothe herself and her children, with little left to sell. Nelshaya had an eye for color, and a great mind for design, but she had given that chance up long ago. However, she was saving up to bring her family back to Southern Boll so that Nelshaya might have a better chance with her craft. Berigar had not let her weave much, other than family clothes and mending. She was not allowed an artistic outlet. Nelshaya, shifted into a depression, for she had not the love of a husband, nor the supportive hand of a son, and a daughter who she could not afford to send to a craft lest she loose a precious worker. When Nelshaya was 39, she got terribly sick. It was a fast, feverish sickness that took Nelshaya within a month. Fortunately Elisha and Nevon did not catch it. Yet they now had nothing. Their father disappeared, their mother died, and they had no craft to support the two. Elisha was 13, and Nevon was 9. Elisha wanted to go into the healer craft but now, as it was a few turns ago, was impossible. Elisha took control of the family belongings and had to sell the goats, most of her mother’s fine fabrics, and even her loom. Berigar’s family was shamed that Berigar took off. None of them knew where the man was, but none of them seemed to want to help out their kin. They had their own mouths to feed, even some of their children were fostered out. There seemed to be no hope, that was until Berigar’s brother Fynal found out. He volunteered to take the children if they could get to Telgar. Elisha saved the marks she got from their family belongings and traveled to Telgar Hold with her brother, not willing to leave him behind.

Fynal was a scholarly man who settled a cozy scribe’s post for the Lord Holder of Telgar Hold. His bronze dragon had a horrible flying accident and betweened It was the worst pain Fynal ever felt, and it was an even worse loss because so much had been expected of him. He had the Weyr in his hands, and he let it slip through his grip. The proud man never publically grieved, but bore his burden silently. He had no children of his own, and he could use some help. He could secure a drudge job for Nevon so that Elisha could still keep an eye on him, but also he planned to teach Elisha to read and write. Being in the plains as she was, Elisha had little use for reading and writing, and so was exposed to little. She proved to be a fast learner, and was proud of her beautiful calligraphy and handwriting. Fynal was not the easiest person to get close to, he had no wish to share his world with anyone else ever again, so he had chosen to hide himself amongst the dusty records room in Telgar. Fynal has always had a decent hand, and once accepted in the scribe craft, hardly anyone ever saw him, save the few other scribes that occasionally worked with him. Fynal always wanted a child or two, and as a dragonrider, his chances were good. Unfortunately, Vaneth’s death caused Fynal’s breakdown, and Fynal lost that one wish. Ashamed that his brother abandoned his family, Fynal offered to take in the children. Nevon was not of much use to the former rider, but the girl, Elisha might be of some help. Her hands were steady, and she copied records accurately, so Fynal was very happy with his choice. Those next six years were pleasant, Fynal actually opened up to some one and had a good relationship with his niece. Her youth was invigorating, and he was happy to have a companion to work with.

Yet he worried that she would leave him once she found a husband. Most women married and had a multitude of children, just look at his mother and siblings. Elisha was like his own daughter, and so he was reluctant to tell the girl that she had gotten a marriage proposal when she was 17. It was a young beastcrafter by name of Rothel. He was a sturdy, dependable sort, and Fynal thought him to be a good choice, if his niece must marry. Rothel was a sweet kid, who was not much older than Elisha herself. Rothel had found Elisha to be a very ‘useful’ woman, however she was not the most stunning of girls. Elisha had been surprised. Elisha had never really thought herself as useful, she was decent at animal husbandry, play the pipes a little, could mend and cook, but she never thought of herself as a wife. After her parents’ marriage dissolved, Elisha wanted no part in a union like that. She would have to be in love if she did marry, and that wasn’t very conventional. Fynal was almost pleased when a seventeen-year-old Elisha declined the marriage proposal. Elisha wanted to continue with the scribe craft. She was getting a bit old to join the healer craft, like she had wanted to those few years ago, but even so it was rare to see a woman in a craft. Elisha took care of Fynal, she cleaned his rooms, cooked him special treats, and even made elaborate calligraphy for him to sell.

Elisha was settling into her life as a scribe, doing little requests and commissions here and there for extra spending money, but she still worried about her brother. Nevon was a drudge, and would for the rest of his life. He worked in the kitchens, mostly just cleaning, for he wasn’t allowed near the food. Nevon still recognized his sister and would give her a hug every time he saw her. Elisha worried about him, about his life, and tried to keep an eye out for him, lest some bully come up like they tended to do. If they did, Elisha would do something to get them back, or yell at them in public. Though little use it did. Those with very few glows tended to make fun of those helpless drudges like her brother. Gradually, one of the cooks started to look out for Nevon so Elisha didn’t have to worry so much.

And so life went on until one fateful day when Elisha was nineteen turns old. Elisha had a handful of records that she had just copied over for Fynal when she heard a deep voice talking to the steward of Telgar Hold. Elisha peeked around the corner, and her eyes fell upon a man with knots-rider knots. Her eyes widened, and she turned to leave but slipped on her own skirts and fell, her uncle’s records flying everywhere. The steward frowned deeply, but the rider chuckled slightly. The rider helped her up and told her his dragon thought she would be suitable to stand for a dragon clutch. Elisha’s eyes went wide again, and when she told Fynal, he was less than pleased. He at first tried to talk her out of it, reminding her of all the pain he felt after loosing his bronze. He also told her not to go because girls were only used for queen candidates, and it was rare for a gold egg to be clutched. Still, dragonriding and Elisha seemed to click. She wanted to go with the searchrider. She wanted to stand, and who knew? Maybe she’d be fit to ride a gold. Fynal bowed his head in defeat, he told her she should have a chance, after all, she had plenty of relatives at Igen who were riders. Fynal promised to keep an eye out for Nevon, and Elisha went to the Weyr to start a new life as a dragon hopeful.

She Impressed Gold Adeloth, and 12 turns have passed. When she first Impressed, she had Marisol to teach her. Marisol was a strong influence on the Weyr, and while they clashed, Elisha admired Marisol for her strong leadership. Two turns after she Impressed, Adeloth rose in First Flight. The rider who’s dragon had caught Adeloth was K’mor, rider of Sventh. And Sventh caught Adeloth a second time, astounding the older riders. He was young and brash, and Elisha found herself strangly attracted to him for a while. However he was reckless and was in love with two things- himself and the drink. Their nights together had been dutiful at best, and Elisha was eager for Adeloth to fly again to get rid of him. She was very glad that she did not have to marry K’mor. She was even happier that she did not get with child from him. Elisha hoped that Sventh would not continue to win her Adeloth, however she did not confide this to anyone.

Adeloth’s third flight, a turn from her last, was won by Deluth, a magnificent bronze who was older than Sventh. The rider was a decent man, and Elisha didn’t mind him too much. His name was D’rian, and he was 7 years Elisha’s senior. He was not warm with her in the beginning, and did not really dote on her like K’mor had done when he first won Elisha. D’rian had good advice and looked out for her, but they butted heads on some things here and there. D’rian was distant, and it was rumored that he had lost a love to a fatal accident. She was curious of D’rian, but before she could find out more about him and get the chance to get close to him, Adeloth rose again.

On her fourth flight, Adeloth was won by a new rider entirely. J’kart of bronze Galneth won them. He was 17 years Elisha’s senior and liked to boss her around, and lacked the general gentleness D’rian gave her. J’kart didn’t like his women to talk back to him, and Elisha hated the fact that she could never say anything to him with out him interrupting. He expected her to do this or that, and he expected her to listen and obey him. Well she was not about to his puppet. She lacked respect for him and despised him. Elisha didn’t care if he had been a Wingleader and if his wingmembers liked him. Let him stay a wingleader then. He was a rough lover, and as arrogant as they come. Elisha got through the turn by telling herself that this was temporary, and that she was not married to the man.

The fifth flight, Elisha found herself wanting D’rian back. Even though he did not really love her, and she did not love him, he was decent to her. She found herself even crushing on the handsome man. One night before her flight she even had a risqué dream about him. Of course she has never mentioned that to anyone. And moments right before the flight she found herself nervous, a feeling she hadn’t really felt before a flight since her First one. Up in the air, Adeloth seemed to listen to her rider’s thoughts and feelings, because Deluth won her again. During the next turn, Elisha worked hard to make time for D’rian and gradually got to know him, even have tender feelings for him. Frankly, Elisha was almost afraid to love him, fearing that they would be split up by Adeloth’s seemingly changing tastes in bronzes. Throughout this turn, the pair laughed and hung out together and talked like old friends. Things grew passionate between the two and Elisha was fairly sure she loved him, and one night she told him. He looked a little surprised, and then smiled, but he did not tell her the same. She was heartbroken, and the next morning she noticed Adeloth’s hide was much brighter then it had been. Elisha thought that Adeloth would be caught by another dragon, but when she woke up afterwards, her darling D’rian was sleeping softly next to her. She smiled down at him and his eyes opened. He kissed her and she couldn’t help but ask him why he didn’t say that he loved her. And he explained to her that he had felt that way for a while, but he didn’t think she really loved him. He told her that he thought she just said that because he had noticed Adeloth had been close to rising, and figured she had been influenced by her dragon. They laughed and cried and they spent the day in her weyr.

A few sevendays later Elisha found out what she had thought would be impossible. She was pregnant. Elisha was not sure what to do. Perhaps she should fly between in case it would end up like Nevon. It would be hard to handle that situation again. It would utterly break her heart. She was almost afraid to tell D’rian, but that night he guessed. He assured it would be alright, and within the year they had a healthy boy. They named him Elirian, and he is now 5 turns old and talking rapidly. Elisha has great hope for Elirian, and very glad he is just as intelligent as other children. About 3 months later Adeloth rose again, and again she was caught by Deluth. This continued all the way through her 10th clutch. D’rian made a competent Weyrleader, and Elisha does not know what she’d do with out him. Elirian is the spitting image of D’rian, and while he is fostered off, he comes every once in a while to visit his parents.

More recently D’rian and Elisha started to argue about petty little things, like how he looks at other women. Elisha feared that she wasn’t as attractive as when she was in her early twenties and accused him of cheating once or twice. He denied, and then in turn started to argue. D’rian even moved out from her weyr, taking up the fine Weyrleader rooms. They would fight loudly, and finally, Elisha decided to apologise. She did not tell him she was coming over and did not knock when she entered, thinking that her weyrmate, for she still thought they were a pair, wouldn’t mind. It was her right as Weyrwoman to go where ever she wanted. Upon entering, to her horror she saw him in bed doing just what you think to another woman. Elisha screamed and raged, and threw things off his desk. Elisha thought she recognized the greenrider as she nakedly gathered her clothes and put them on as fast as possible while D’rian sat smugly under his blankets. She screamed at the poor girl “GET OUT, GET OUT, GET OUT! AND YOU. . .” She turned on D’rian and screamed at him and he screamed back at her. He said that she was so cold lately and so wound up in ruling the Weyr that she had no time for them anymore. She was outraged. How was she supposed to answer that? It was her duty to give herself and to dote on the Weyr. She had given some of the best turns of her life to him, and he was being so selfish. She told him that he could find his transfer papers in the morning and stormed out. That was really the last time she saw him, and for a long time she cried herself to sleep. She did not transfer the greenrider, but she was tempted to. D’rian and Deluth were sent to Ista. Elisha was sure she lost the love of her life, but she could not regret, she could not take it back. She had been brash, but frankly she lost her trust for D’rian, and as a Weyrwoman, she wanted to be the best she could. And D’rian around would only serve as a distraction. She had to get rid of him for the good of the Weyr. Sacrifices came with the territory. Yet now, she is harder than ever to get close to.

After D'rian left, Adeloth was caught by Bronze Bristith. The pair produced the largest clutch Telgar had seen in ages: 34 eggs including a queen egg. All were Impressed, and the gold dragonet, Sheluth, chose gold candidate Neory. Elisha likes her well enough now, and the girl is growing on her.

Elisha and the bronzerider V'rak were little more than business partners for a long while. Less than a turn later, Elisha and V'rak's relationship grew warmer, and love grew. It was right before Adeloth flew again, that they became weyrmates. When she did fly, Bristith was there to catch her again. Together they produced another large clutch, 30 eggs, but no queen egg. Elisha then had another son, this time by V'rak.

Most recently, Adeloth was caught by W'lem. Again, no queen egg.
