Neory came to wakefulness slowly. She was comfortable and content, and Sheluth, though fully asleep herself, was radiating the same thing to her Rider. She sighed softly as she remembered the flight, not yet opening her eyes, as she was too content to open them just yet. She did, however, snuggle to the other body who was in the bed with her.
She remained like that for a couple of minutes, quietly and comfortably exalting on the recent event. The flight had been good, Neory knew that. They'd flown high and selected the right pair. And the actual mating had been wonderful. Neory was no virgin, but her body was sore in all of the right ways. She vaguely regretted not really having been aware of her own pleasure, but Sheluth's had been fantastic, and for now that was enough.
After a bit, she opened her eyes, angling herself up for a moment to smile at R'net. "Mmm... I'm glad you made it." She smiled and then laid her head back on his chest. "I was afraid I was going to have to pick someone other than who we wanted..."

As was normal after a flight, R'net took a minute before opening his eyes and going about his day. Generally, this minute was comprised of figuring out who he was in bed with, how much time he had before he needed to leave(Mari, his Grandmother would killed him if he'd ever simply left after a Greenflight- you had to at least ask the boy or girl how they felt, and all that good stuff).
This time, it was figuring out what he would say at all that kept his eyes closed. From the moment he'd started to awaken, Torenth's smugness had been intense, the kind of intensity that could never occur over a Green, no matter how fast or long she flew.
Meaning that he had caught Neory.
Which opened up a big can of worms.
First of which, he would need to return to his base camp, and would not be around to help Neory through her Queen's first clutch. Second, before he'd left they'd had an sort of undeclared special relationship. They'd had one since she was a candidate. And while that had been acceptable when she'd been a candidate, and he'd been closer to her in age, he was now a much older Bronzerider, and she was a Queenrider coming into her prime. His mere existence might cause problems when it came to her picking an acceptable consort.
R'net could feel a headache coming on. However, he wasn't going to spoil her first flight with these thoughts. It could wait until he was back, and was roughtly fifteen turns her senior. Then, it would be easier to make her understand.
So, he opened his eyes and smiled.
"Torenth and I do strive to do our best." R'net offered. "Especially when it comes to beautiful ladies."

Neory turned her head back to look at him and smiled, a gleam in her eyes. Oh, she knew this was complicated, though she was keeping those thoughts at bay, just wanting to enjoy the moment while it lasted. "I hope we hold a special place in that category."
Neory was weyrhold, she did not expect that they did not go after every green that rose at their assignment. And she hoped that R'net was not being celibate even outside of flight. Her own celibacy had a lot to do with the fact that Sheluth was just now an adult and she just had not had time to be even interested in such matters--and even as Sheluth got older it would be far too complicated before her first flight. Nonetheless, she hoped that she was "special" to him.
She cuddled closely to him, the ever present realization that both he and her brother were gone. She had made friends among the other weyrlings, but that didn't mean that she did not still miss the two of them. However, she couldn't ignore the thought much longer. She forced herself to sound fine, hoping her voice didn't betray her. "Do we have time to eat and maybe share a bath before you have to go?"

"We could have a bath, or have a meal. I didn't finish reporting- Tor didn't give me a chance, so I still need to finish that up."
R'net caught himself sliding into work mode, and mentally shook himself. He was suppose to be, especially after all these years, suppose to be someone suave with the ladies. It was part of Bronzerider charm, and yet he kept failing to be so for Neory.
"And yes, the two of you share a very special place in our hearts and minds." He leaned over and kissed her forehead. "With ladies such as yourselves, it's hard to keep you off of our minds."

Neory wrinkled her nose slightly, "So I have to pick?" She sighed as she turned her head slightly from looking at his face so that he couldn't see the disappointment, resting it easily on his chest and listening to his heart beat. Of course, the weyr came first, and she understood that, but that didn't mean that it wasn't sometimes painful.
She forced herself past her moment of disappointment and couldn't help but grin, "I'm sure Elisha didn't mind too much. And I'm very glad Tor didn't let you finish." She didn't let herself ask if he would have chosen to do so if Tor hadn't forced him not to. Instead she took solace in his answer to her other statement.
"Mmm... good." She grinned as she placed her hand over his bare chest. "So... do you have a preference. Meal or bath?"

R'net chuckled, and sat up. "I hope Elisha's as understanding as you say. I don't think she likes me as much as she likes you." With a slight groan, he hauled himself out of the bed, and began to search for his clothing, wincing as the pieces that were missing buttons. That would be fun to explain back at base camp.
K'dyn would kill him.
"I'd prefer a meal. I'd rather like to eat something before I try jumping into the past. If that's okay with you?"

Neory nodded, watching him as he gathered his clothes, and giggling at the missing buttons. "But she does like me and will understand for my sake." She did not move from the furs at first, watching him, noting the little things that had changed in the... well... what had been years for him. She balled her right hand into a fist under the sheets, but did not let him see her own frustration over the matter.
She let it pass and stood, finally moving from the bed and over to him, "Do you need your clothes just yet?" She took the shirt with the missing buttons, smirking as she did so, "I'd like to have a bit of fun that I can remember first... just you and I, without our dear partners."

R'net visibly winced. Yeah, that wasn't according to plan. And beside that- he may have been a very fit rider, but he was into his thirties at this point, and couldn't throw in spectacular lovemaking right after a Flight, before breakfast, and then go jump into the past. He'd be worn to the bone, and being in the past was hardly peaceful.
"Maybe after we eat something." He suggested swiftly, refusing to look like too much of a wet blanket. Sitting down at the end of the furs he smiled at the junior weyrwoman.
"At this point, I could eat a herdbeast before being satisfied."

Neory could not help but frown. R'net actually winced at the idea of making love to her! She blinked for a moment and then nodded, handing his shirt back to him. That reaction was definitely not what she expected and made her wonder if she had misunderstood everything.
"Sure... after we eat." Maybe he really was just hungry. She was a bit as well, but she hadn't also timed it today, so why did she still feel as if she were being rejected?
"Aren't they supposed to leave a basket full of goodies outside for us or something?" She smiled, forcing herself to focus on that. She did not want to upset Sheluth today, not after a successful first flight. She quickly threw on her own shirt, covering up the essential bits, feeling suddenly shy around R'net.

"I don't know." R'net said seriously. "I've never caught a Queen before, and with Greenflights, it only happens if you have a friend who takes care of that for you."
R'net stood up suddenly, as though sensing Neory's shyness, and not wanting to make it more difficult to dress.
"I'll check," R'net called back, opening the door. There was, in fact, a basket outside of the door. R'net looked at it nervously. He really didn't trust it. Hoping that it was filled with sturdy, roll and vegetable type foods, instead of fruit and wine, he leaned over, and picked it up.
"Seems like our lucky day." He commented, trying for a smile. "We've got room service."

Neory forced a smile, desperately trying to call back the happy feeling she'd had upon waking up cuddled to R'net. She didn't understand what was happening. She felt silly and stupid and suddenly very jaded, not to mention rather sad.
She closed her eyes slightly, trying not to hear Marisol's words to her, the warning. Perhaps she should have listened to it better, ran... no, whatever price she had to pay, even this one, Sheluth was more than worth it.
The smile became more genuine as she thought about the gold sleeping happily on the ledge. Sheluth and the weyr were what mattered, her own heart was not even secondary to that.
"Is it enough or do we need to go down to the hall? I can't even imagine how much timing it must take out of you."

R'net took a careful seat across the bed from her. Honestly, this whole situation wasn't fair. Neory could have been the one true love of his life, but considering everything that had changed, it couldn't be that way anymore. And he really didn't want to hurt her in the process of convincing her that he wasn't the right man for her.
Shards, he was nearly forty!
Opening the basket slowly, he pulled out the foods offered. While the food was largely made up of snack foods, there was enough real food that he didn't suggest that they leave and go to the Weyrhall. Not that he was suppose to hang around the Weyr anyway. He needed to get back to the children. Update everyone.
And boy, wouldn't that be fun.
