Character
Name: Lady Leshya
Rank: Lady of Telgar Hold
Gender: Female
Age: 25
Origin: Benden Hold
Appearance:
One look at Leshya would reveal that she was a Holder Lady. Her skin was fair, untouched by the sun, and she had the luxury of wearing her blonde hair long, often braided into intricate styles with ribbons or glass beads - jewels for special occassions - braided in. Her eyes were a pale blue, and her features were delicate. Her nose was slender, her cheek bones high, and her ears were small and dainty.
Leshya was not by any means chubby, but she was well proportioned. Her hips and breasts were not overly large, but there was no doubt from her figure that she would be able to bear her husband several children.
Leshya dressed like a Holder Lady as well. Her dresses were always of the finest material, preferably in pastels that went well with her light complexion. She was never caught wearing pants, though she did have some skirts that were less delicate and allowed more freedom.

Daughter: Kimlye (1 turn)
Father: Leshen, Lord Holder of Benden (64)
Mother: Narya, Lady of Benden Hold (49)

Sisters:
Saylen (Half sister, 37) (Queenrider at Igen)
Nayren (27) (Available to be used elsewhere)
Lashyan (25, twin) (Available to be used elsewhere)
Sexual Orientation: Straight
Personality:
Leshya looks like a flower that would wilt at the first sign of adversity. An image she cultivates very carefully. And a mask that her new husband saw through only because she allowed him to. It was a mask he quickly realized would make her a good partner. It was also what made him fall in love with her mind, and thus with all of her. He had already been infatuated with her body!
Leshya learned early on that appearing like a dumb girl who couldn't think for herself allowed her to hear what was not meant for "sensitive female ears" and even allowed her to manipulate when necessary. Her manipulations were always subtle, but not always altruistic.
Leshya is very much used to getting her own way. While she did not often make ridiculous demands, she did get quite pouty and in a mood if she was denied something she wanted. She also tended to avoid any form of hard labor. She was not interested in being one of the Holder Ladies who put on men's britches and rolling up their sleeves and getting dirty!
She was not blind to the condition of the drudges, but her first concern was with the well being of the whole of her Hold. She had been raised to help with the leading of a Hold, and she had learned every lesson well, even if her parents did not think so. She worked her people hard, but she also made sure that they were well treated and rewarded fairly for their work.
She did not agree with her husband on everything, but she understood the politics well enough to know that instead of going behind his back or against him, she needed to subtly influence him. But she was Benden, heart and soul, and that meant that she supported the Riders.
Leshya occassionally found herself jealous of the weyrwomen. While she did not share their loose morals, she envied their power, their ability to be upfront with their strength rather than hiding it behind a mask to make the men comfortable. She found herself disappointed with what she had heard about the new Weyrwoman's desire to limit girls on the Sands.
Hobbies/Skills: Embroidery, singing, strategy games (though she only plays her best with her husband, twin sister, or a handful of other close confidents).
Pets: None
History:
Leshya was the second of twins born to her father's second wife, and the last of her mother's children to survive birth. Sander, her father's first wife died giving birth to her half-sister Saylen. Leshen had mourned for a while - longer than many thought appropriate - and then fell in love with the younger daughter of Igen's Lord Holder. Before marrying the young Narya, Leshen absolutely doted upon his children, and when Narya gave him more children, he doted upon all of them - though Saylen remained his favorite, as she most reminded him of Sander.
Leshya was the favorite of the rest of the family, and as Saylen was almost grown when she was born, was a close second in the eyes of Leshen. She was favorite because she almost did not survive her birth.
While her twin, Lashyan was born healthy, Leshya was born with the umbilical chord wrapped around her neck. Only quick thinking and luck managed to survive the tiny infant, and from that early moment in her life, the family became very protective of the small one.
After Lashyan and Leshya were born, Narya had a series of miscarriages and stillbirths. For a time she was depressed and Saylen was left to raise her younger siblings. When she emerged from it, her youngest twins were 7 turns old, and though they loved their mother, they tended to look to their big sister more than their mother.
However, Leshya's life was turned upside half a turn after Narya recovered from her depression. Her big sister had been searched to stand for a Queen Egg at Igen, and she was Impressed. Leshya was happy for her big sister, but very sad to have to let her go. Though she did love when Saylen visited and would take them on short flights.
After that, Narya truly became mother again to her children, and the relationship between Narya and Leshya deepened. It was Narya who taught her daughters the secrets of how to appear weak while being strong. After watching her mother with her father, her sister in law with their eldest brother, and even the effect she had upon her brothers, Leshya realized that there was truth in her mother's lessons, and embraced them fullheartedly.
When Leshya was 18 turns old she had a short romance with a Journeyman Harper, several years her elder, who had been assigned to Benden Hold. He swept her off her feet with his sweet words and music. To this day, she is not sure as to what his true feelings were, and she no longer cares. When he was called to HarperHall to stand for his Master's test, he promised he would return to her, and she believed him. As the youngest and with him as a Master Harper, she was sure that her parents would approve of him. He never returned.
While her parents do not know about her Journeyman Harper, she did confess that she was not a virgin to her husband. He took it hard, but decided that he loved her enough that it did not matter. That acceptance, knowing that he could have completely destroyed her, was what made her fall in love with Enald.
Leshya and Enald did not meet before they were engaged. The engagement was done without their consent by their parents. The first time they met was at a party to celebrate the engagement at Telgar Hold. It was not love at first sight, though both found the other attractive. While it was not love, they did find the match to be acceptable.
They were left alone frequently, to get to know each other. On one evening, they were playing a game of Stones, and Leshya won decisively. That was when Enald realized he was not marrying a pretty but stupid girl. And that was the moment he fell in love.
After that they would talk, and they no longer needed to be forced to spend time alone with each other. During one of those conversations, she told him all about her Harper. After a long silence, he kissed her softly and told her that that was the past and that he loved her anyway. That was the moment Leshya fell in love.
The wedding was lavish, a gather to celebrate was held at both Benden and Telgar Holds, and the week after was an enjoyable escape from real life and time to get to know each other more intimately.
When they emerged, they found that they were good partners and began to work together for the Hold as well as enjoying each other's presence.
Unfortunately, its been a turn since they married, and Leshya has, as of yet, to show any signs of being pregnant.
