Though she’s given birth to two small children, Jenafa still retains her youth. Her stomach is still taut and flat, and her chest, though bigger from nursing and pregnancy isn’t to large for her body. Her legs are strong, and build for running and jumping. Her arms are strong from oiling and scrubbing, writing, filing, and occasionally carrying things. She’s slim, and due to her great height(six feet) and powerful presence, rather striking.
Her hair has to be teased into hairstyles, otherwise it turns into a wild afro. Her personal maid has great skill at placing her hair into attractive styles. Her lips are big, and naturally form into a slight smile. Her eyebrows give her large brown eyes a more sharply intelligent look, and her nose is a good size, with well shaped nostrils.
Jenafa really loves jewelry. She loves bracelets, and necklaces, rings and earrings. She loves the shiney hair clips that her suitors give her. She likes the brooch she was given after graduating into an adult rider. As much as she likes have pretty clothing, she likes her jewelry much more. Her clothes tend to be colorful, tasteful, and very feminine. If she can manage it, she always wears skirts and dresses, usually exposing her well shaped calves, or part of her toned stomach. She wears sandals unless flying for a prolonged period or going onto the hatching sands.

img.photobucket.com/albums/v719/DL_Amanda/stephenburrows-S2007.jpg
Personality:
Jenafa is a Queenrider at Igen, and while that might not mean a lot to someone unfamiliar with the Igen Weyr, it sure means a lot to her. After impressing at sixteen, seven turns had gone into turning her into who she is now.
She’s can be maternal, but that has been mostly trained out of her at this point. The only person she exhibits maternal feelings for(no matter how twisted) is Tirea, her personal drudge, a former Gold Candidate.
Jen has no boundaries when it comes to punishments- she finds out what will hurt(and stick) and that’s what she uses. Her morals aren’t so advanced that certain things are off limits. She’s also not above getting you transferred out of her- I mean Igen- Weyr. She sometimes takes a liking to a chromatic rider, and will do her best to get them well situated somewhere- it’s a motherly thing, and not regulated.
She’s also not above using seduction to get someone for Igen. Take her son for instance, she really wanted his father to transfer to Igen. Becoming pregnant, and a few other tricks should have convinced the Bronzerider to forsake Fort, and transfer to Igen(and it would have worked if it wasn’t for the Weyrwoman). And her second child- well, that one happened for a reason too. S’nen has been much more agreeable to Jen lately.
Her normal personality is a congenial, but if you don’t do as she tells you, it quickly turns to ice. One toes the line when it comes to Jen, and she’ll allow you to live in peace. She has very few friends- Tirea is one, the Weyrwoman another, and a few Brown- and Bronzeriders. She knows almost everyone in the Weyr, at least on site. Her memory for names and faces is nearly perfect, and she knows a good deal about everything, and everyone. It’s her job, and she takes it seriously. She makes it a point of coming and congratulating every single Weyrling, even the lower colors, like the Green and Blueriders. In the rare case of a dragondeath where the rider doesn’t follow, she’ll make sure that they go somewhere or do something that allows them to live the best life they can.
There is a sweet, good natured woman inside of Jen, and while turns of Igen training have made most obvious signs invisible, she still exists. Under the layers of ambition, control, and the belief that she is better than others, as well as smarter.
She makes a good Queenrider.
History:
Born the oldest girl to a beastcrafting family, her father wasn’t quite sure what he was suppose to do with a girl. He was slightly overprotective of her, and she used that protection to her advantage. Her brothers learned that they would heed her, or feel the wrath of their mother and father combined.
Though a second girl was eventually produced, she really was a weak willed, physically weak woman, which merely reenforced her parents protection of it’s two girls, and Jenafa ruled her world with an iron fist. And that was how she spent the first ten years of her life- ruling four boys, twisting a father and mother around her finger, and having a sister hero-worship her.
At ten, her father decided that in addition to her mother teaching her how to run a household, she would also learn a bit about Beastcrafting. He wanted his daughter to appeal to a good man, and not making stupid mistakes about breeding that his own wife had made when they’d first married.
He taught her about traits, about what bred true, about what didn’t, about how to decide what was nature, and what was nurture, about how selective breeding was good- but how to watch out for the dangers of inbreeding. He taught her how to judge a good animal, how to find out the real age, what meat to buy, what to avoid, what grains and grasses did the most.
With her taking and using the information like a smart girl, Karon was sure she’d be easy to marry off, and he and Lesta were glad.
When traveling to the main Keroon Hold with her Father and two of her brothers when she was sixteen a Search for Igen was conducted. A Search for a Queen egg.
And wasn’t Jenafa’s whole family surprised when their darling girl impressed, taking away sixteen years of training, feeding and loving. Of course they didn’t say no, but Jen had a feeling her dad was rather irritated- he been talking about marrying her to the son of a very good friend of his, and while the talks could always be switched over to her sister, Karon didn’t want his daughter to be taken away from him. He loved her after all.
But Jenafa left, and has only seen her family occasionally since.
Candidate training at Igen was very intense. They didn’t have a traditional Candidate Master- instead they had a failed candidate, who was closely supervised by the Headwoman, who was watched over by the Weyrwoman herself.
Like all of the female Candidates, Jen was interviewed for suitability by the Weyrwoman herself. This was to keep token candidates(Those chosen for their looks, not their acceptability) off the sands, because no one wants a stupid woman to Impress. Jen was found acceptable, which was good- because the Weyrwoman had sent four girls away already, even those who were Weyrbred.
And after many days full of lessons, and chores, the faint humming began. And Jen, like eleven other girls, and thirty something boys, ran to change into a White robe, and wait for the eggs to hatch.
It was known as a rather bloody hatching- it was usual for girls to die when a Queen was on the sands, but males fell during this hatching as well.
Jenafa doesn’t care though- her Queen may have killed three or four girls, but she impressed the talk Keroonian girl, and that’s all that matters.
They sailed through Weyrling Training, with special lessons from the Weyrwoman, explaining much about the Weyr. About how the other Weyrs had inferior dragons, and how their riders were not to be trusted. About how Telgar Weyr hid away from the games, because they were afraid of loosing their stolen territory when Igen showed them who truly ruled the skies. About how Benden only won the games because while most of their dragons couldn’t fly in a straight line, they had larger numbers, and more choices for the Games. She learned that the purity of the Igen line was up to her- because sometimes Juniors allowed open flights, but Jenafa must never allow that.
And for the two turns that Jenafa was in Weyrling Training, she believed every word. And when her Queen rose for the first time, and clutched a healthy ten egg clutch, Jen was glad.
But problems arose when Jen traveled with the Weyrwoman to the Games. The other Bronzeriders- there were so many of them, and they were very different from Igen Bronzeriders. Especially the one named V’ini, an exceedingly beautiful Wingleader. And the simple infatuation of a Junior Weyrwoman turned into an illicit affair.
One that only ended when Jenafa became pregnant, the Weyrwoman went crazy when she found out who the father was, and V’ini didn’t transfer to Igen to lead a Wing there, and live happily ever after with Jen. She kept the child, and told the Weyrwoman that she could either leave Favian alone, or Jen would have open flight.
Unsure if she should hope for an open flight(Her Fathers old lectures about inbreeding were beating down what the Weyrwoman had told her about Igen’s purity), or the ability to see her child, and remember how good things had been with V’ini. In the end, her child remained safe, and Jen still tries to figure out how she is going to get new Bronze blood into the Weyr.
While pregnant with her son, Jen was surprised at how much more agreeable everyone was with her. They did what she said with only a little push, and seemed to be captivated with her- both mother and ruler. She understand the power a pregnant woman has, and found she enjoyed immensely being with child, and had no problems with doing it again- when the time was right of course.
She fostered her son, and no longer indulged in her fascination with the Bronzeriders from other Weyrs. She took lovers- never lower than a Brownrider- and existed as an almost perfect example of what an Igen Queenrider should be.
Deciding she needed a personal drudge, she appropriated Tirea three turns ago, and has been molding the woman into a perfect drudge. She has trained the woman so well, Jen has used Tirea as a reward to Bronze and Brownriders who do what she says. She makes sure that Tirea never sleeps with anything lower than that. No Blue or Greenrider, and no drudges- though Crafters are okay, if the rank is high enough.
Sometimes a job must be done herself. One Wingleader, S’nen, was having a problem listening to her. She seduced him, got pregnant with his child, and managed to end the relationship with him amicably. She’s never had a problem with him trying to supersede her authority again, and he hopes to catch her dragon again.
Recent events- a huge clutch at Telgar, and falling numbers in Igen Weyr has begun to haunt Jen. She knows they need new bronzes- or at least more, they don’t have enough to present enough of a choice for two Queens, and has decided that she needs to come up with a convincing reason to force the Weyrwoman to accept two transfer bronzes by the time the Weyrgames start.
However, after Lyranth's death, the only people Jenafa will need to convince are her Bronzeriders. And considering her close and, ah, personal relationship with most of them, it should be a breeze.
And considering her Dragon just clutched another Gold, she's kind of riding high on everyone's love list.
She couldn't have planned it more perfectly if she'd tried- though the loss of Lyranth and Shaye are both hard to deal with. The former Weyrwoman might have been crazy, but her dragon was a solid producer.

Name:
Saharth
Age:
12
Color:
Gold
Appearance:
Saharth is a showy dragon, with a natural flair for the dramatic, everything, from eating to flight practice has to be done with flaring wings, and twists making the sun show brightly on her golden hide. She’s large, and awkward as a turtle on the ground- but in the air, she’s a beautiful, graceful gold monolith.
Her shade of gold is harsh. It a sandy, and bright, grabbing attention, and even giving out headaches as she dances in the skies. Saharth isn’t the most beautiful, nor the biggest dragon, but her rider will always point out the narrow triangular head, and the large wings, and the tail that never seems to stop moving, and say that there is no other dragon who can be compared to this Igen beauty.
Personality:
Jen has heard of dragons with personalities so strong, that even after thirty turns of partnership the Rider has trouble with controlling her Queen. Jen has never had a problem like that- and while she thinks it ‘s because of her perfect self control, it might have something to do with the fact that Saharth is a rather mild dragon compared to some.
Oh yes, Saharth has a temper that rivals the sun over the desert, and she is abrupt and leaves anything resembling diplomacy to her Rider. But she still lacks a certain force, a certain intelligence about how she conducts herself.
She is simply mild for a Queen. Her flights lack the ferocity of many Queens, and while her flying is brilliant, she doesn’t always make the Bronzes try as hard as she should. Her mind, so focused on certain things, do not allow her to be her riders springboard for ideas.
Though Saharth is a good Queen, she is rather simple, and easily controlled by her Rider. Her rider likes it this way, and so Saharth never tries to be more than she is.
History:
A decade ago, a violent Queen was clutched on the sands. Bursting forth from her shimmering egg, the little Queen laid the hatching sands to waste. At least three girls died, and four or five more were seriously injured.
Very few of the girls remained unscathed. Jenafa, now Saharth's rider, was one of them.
Saharth was given special treatment since before she hatched, and it never ended. The Greens, Blues, Browns and Bronzes were always deferential. The other Queen in the Weyr accepted her well, and she went through Weyrling Training being spoilt. Was accepted into the Queens Wing and continued to be spoilt. Clutched eggs, and was spoilt on the sands, and her favor was continually sought by every color.
Saharth has led an exceedingly good life.
