Jenafa made a point of getting to know her Saharth's babies. Well, the Rider's of her Saharth's babies that was. And as she'd produced a Queen and a Bronze this time, Jen figured taking the time to eat a noon time meal with the Weyrlings was a good idea. Besides, she was sick of the posturing males, and brooding presences of B'rek and A'stin. Thus, the Weyrling tables were a vast improvement.
She sat carefully, next to the person she thought was the Bronzerider of the clutch, rider of Svarth, a particularly nicely colored bronze. The copper tones obviously took after her own light colored Saharth.
"Greetings." Jenafa announced, after setting down her plate, and glass of wine. The Weyrwoman had access to anything she wanted, and if her meal looked particularly nice, there was a reason.
"I'm Weyrwoman Jenafa, and I'm pleased to meet all of you." Her smile seemed to agree with that idea, and Jen did fancy herself a people person. And it would do Igen a great deal of good to have a Weyrwoman in touch with her Weyr. Which is what Jenafa wanted to do. She smoothed her yellow and white dress while watching the Weyrlings for their reactions, and glanced down at her wrist to make sure the beautiful bracelet that J’var had given her was on correctly. Making a good impression was important, despite her hair starting to frizz after several days in it’s tight bun.

The newest Goldrider of Pern, walked into the Weyrhall, with her usual cold demeanor. It wasn't something she had to practice, it was simply who she was. Without knowing who she was people moved out of her way, for one so small she made a big impact. Laszreen was well dressed today. She wore one of many gowns she had brought with her. Today it was ivory with a light gold trim , the waist came in just a slight amount and while it had short sleeves, it revealed little more than bare arm and neck.
Her hair was braided, reaching midway down her back. Laszreen was comfortable and though she was not as well groomed as the Weyrwoman she was putting in an effort to look good, for the sake of her status. Elfreth liked it as well, though Faranth knew the Gold was out to get her to be friends with every Bronzerider in the Weyr and most of the brownriders as well.
The brunette took her lightly filled tray back to the Weyrling table and spotting D'wyr and Jenafa took a seat across from the Weyrwoman. "Good evening Weyrwoman." She glanced over at D'wyr, whom she had spoken with previously and wondered if he knew what brought Jenafa to the Weyrling Table. Laszreen set her tray down in front of her as quietly as possible. "That bracelet is beautiful. My mother used to have very fine jewels but none as fine as that." She twisted the ring on her finger without much thought to what she was doing. Eating with the Weyrwoman was going to wear on her nerves a bit.

A warm and cheerful smile painted the new bronze rider’s face. Ever since he had impressed Svarth, he had more confidence, and was more comfortable around others. He was a little surprised when Jenafa showed up at the table but not overly. A wide grin accompanied his greeting.
“It is an honor to finally meet you Weyrwoman.” His tone respectful as he nudged a hand through close cropped hair before settling in to munch on some meat rolls. The boy didn’t quite have Svarth’s appetite but He came in at a close second. It seemed that even Laszreen was knocked out of her chilly disposition.

"Hello again, Lazsreen." Jenafa spoke warmly, having had no particular favorite who hadn't impressed. Oh, Breena would have made a wonderful Queenrider, but Jen would rather that happened later, rather than sooner. She needed Breena for other things. Lazsreen was better than a lot of the other choices, as it was.
"D'wyr." Jen smiled at him as well. "So, how has Weyrling Training been so far?" With a quick glance at both of them, Jen dug into her food, not waiting to see who would speak first. She was hungry, and unlike certain Holdborn beauties, she'd never been self aware about what she ate; she needed the food, just like everyone else. Of course, a lot of the food wasn't stuff she actually wanted to eat, but the healers recommended certain foods in her diet, and who was Jen to argue with them?

Laszreen didn't know what she should say about it. She had learned some basic information thus far which obviously they would build upon later. "The basics are a little boring but I'm sure it will be more interesting later when we learn things that are more complex." Elfreth would agree that lessons were boring, she thought they were a waste of time and Laszreen had to convince her they were necessary. They couldn't be solid members of the Weyr if they didn't finish all their lessons and do them to the best of their ability.
There were times when Laszreen felt completely alone in Weyrling training. It did not stem from the other Weyrlings but from the fact that she was a Goldrider. Something she would never complain about. If there was a lack of awe about them people might not see them for the rare and wonderful beings they were. Laszreen had enough trouble talking to people without riding a Gold, though honestly she didn't like too many people so perhaps the Gold was keeping her out of trouble.
The Weyrling bit into her redfruit without another word. She was hungry though obviously not as hungry as D'wyr or Jenafa. Laszreen was a lot smaller than both of them so it wasn't suprising.

Jenafa nodded, and swallowed before speaking.
"The lessons are deadly boring to begin with, but considering you never know who'll impress, or what they'll know, it is needed." The Weyrwoman shrugged. "It's better than double checking the accounts. Personally, I think lessons train you to deal with all of the other tedious tasks of being a Rider; checking harness for weak spots, Wing Practice, and such things."
Though Jenafa could have continued in that vein for a goodly time, she was unsure of how many of her duties were the same as lower ranked riders. And she didn't want to complain about something that only she and Laszreen would ever do. It was polite. She might be the Rider of a Queen, but that didn't mean she couldn't be gracious to those who Impressed low.
"And how are your dragons doing?"

Laszreen listened to Jenafa, as careful to remember details as possible. She wanted to get a good idea of who the woman was and how to least bother her. It didn't seem to bother her that Laszreen was a bit high handed at times. Elfreth had not made Laszreen arrogant, she had been raised that way. It would be different if she thought having a Gold had entitled her to more. She had always thought she deserved more.
Jenafa brought up the dragons and Laszreen's eyes lit up. She loved to talk about Elfreth. If one were to get more than a few sentances out of her without an argument ensuing then Elfreth was the right topic of conversation. Noting that D'wyr seemed to have his mouth full, Laszreen went ahead and spoke of Elfreth.
"Elfreth is marvelous. She is growing like a weed and although she is easily the clumsiest dragon in the clutch, I'm sure its just a phase. Golds are said to be rather gawky until they reach their mature size." The petite girl wasn't smiling but there was a warmth in her voice. "Was Saharth at all bossy as a dragonet?" Elfreth sure was, more than bossy even. She was prideful to a point of spoiledness that was worse than any person Laszreen had met.

Even after ten turns of partnership, Saharth was still one of Jenafa's favorite topics. She smiled at Lazsreen's description of Elfreth, proud of her dragon's precious daughter. There was joy and laughter in her eyes when she spoke.
"They never stop being bossy. If anything, it gets worse as they age." Her eyes went distant a moment, obviously thinking of a private memory that exemplified exactly why her dragon was both bossy, spoilt and sassy.
"And as for the clumsiness, it depends on the dragon. Saharth never really grew out of it, not on the ground at least. She can fly with the best, but I try my best to keep people from seeing her when she's ambling along on foot." Jen took another few bites of the delicious food she'd picked up, eyes closed in slight joy. Food was not quite as good as jewelry, but today the cooks had outdone themselves.
