C'tey and Elydth had had a good extra practice this evening. While he might be well known for causing problems by refusing to submit like a good Blue Rider, his leaders could never fault him for shirking his duty or being lax in his own work. Of course, some of C'tey's contentment came from the fact that several sweet morsels had watched. When he landed and dismounted, several young men and women were gathered to tell him how well the two worked together. Oh, he knew his small fanbase was nothing compared to that of a Bronzer or even a Brown rider, he also knew that he tended to treat partners better than most of the stuck up rankers at Igen.
He had bathed Elydth and then cleaned himself up before coming for dinner. His hair was perfectly groomed. His white shirt open to show off his very attractive chest, his pants tight enough to draw looks from those who tended to be interested in such things. All in all, the peacock was confident in himself and showing it this evening.
As he took his seat at the Borrego tables, he looked around, trying to decide if anyone caught his interests for the evening. He was currently without a lover, though he'd be more than content for a one night stand to turn into something more, or to just enjoy the company of someone for the evening.
What do you think Elydth? Male or female tonight?
There was a feeling of his dragon's laughter in his mind. As if you care, Mine. Whoever makes you happy is fine with me. You know that.
He grinned a bit. Barely paying attention to the rankers in the room. C'tey might have a lot of self respect and plenty of confidence, but he was not an dimglow. Even if some Bronzers were rather tastey; unfortunately, they only mated with males when their dragons flew a Green.

The Wingsecond left his weyr early enough to paruse the Weyrhall for himself. It had been many months now since the death of his weyrmate and he, like many other riders, grew lonely every once in a while. Gavanth, his Bronze, saw no reason why the man should punish himself any longer. The time had come for him to embrace life again.
He was not wearing his leathers for once and had slipped into something much more casual. His pants were a dark brown, tying in with his loose burgundy shirt that was tucked in at the waist. The tall blonde walked into the Weyrhall with a charming smile on his face. If it was one thing he had, it was charm. The Bronzer immediately noted that the Borrego table was fairly filled out tonight, although nowadays that wasn't saying much.
B'rek sent a glance up at the Head Table, to find it was empty. No Jenafa tonight. Not that it was surprising, she was a very busy woman lately. He'd probably pay her a visit when he could get away next, though he wouldn't do anything to upset either A'stin or J'var. He didn't want to ruin anyone's chances for the Weyrleadership when it was something he wasn't interested in.
Then he felt a gaze on him and turned around to see one of the blueriders from his own wing, looking about for a companion. Well at least they would be able to talk about finding someone for the evening. Gavanth? What do you think of C'tey? Yes, he is a good person to be around. Very funny. I think he rides blue Ely.. dithB'rek concluded for his dragon. I agree. He is a good person to be around. Although I'd say that about most of the men in our wing.
B'rek walked towards Borrego giving a nod to a couple people who greeted him. He was a well known person in the Weyr. One of a few Bronzers, a Wingsecond and pretty much Wingleader of Borrego while A'stin was busy running the Weyr. "Good evening C'tey. Mind if I join in the hunt?" He spoke easily and without a hint of mockery. He truly was looking for a female companion tonight and he figured the bluerider could go either way. Not that that was his business.

C'tey looked over to the Bronzer and grinned. For all C'tey might resent the majority of those who rode Bronzes, there were a few who were decent guys and didn't lord their position over those of lesser rank, and B'rek was one of those. Another reason C'tey was glad to be in Borrego. Of course, B'rek was not overly lenient either, so the Blue Rider had been on the wrong side of the man more than once as well.
"Not at all." His smile was genuine and even inviting. Though he realized that it would probably be more advantageous if the two were not competing even as they hunted together. "Perhaps I should limit myself to men tonight? So that there is no competition." Which was as close as the Blue would ever come to admitting that the fact that B'rek rode a Bronze probably made him outmatched in the race for the affections of almost any woman in the weyr. There were very few women who would not be attracted by Rank.
However, the proximity of a rather attractive Bronzer made him think that he might, in fact, prefer a Brown Rider for the evening. He occassionally enjoyed letting someone else take the dominant position, though most of the time he was quite content to be there himself.
"See any who tickle your fancy?"

B'rek sat down and behaved as if he were just another wingrider. He felt as though he was just another wingrider in that moment so it was a natural thing. He wasn't someone who would try too hard to fit in. The Bronzerider took a good sip from his wine glass and smiled. "Ahh now, I won't go ruining your fun with the ladies." The man's comment did not not surprise him nor did he comment on it. Blueriders had relationships that were more loose than those that Bronzeriders had. It was expected and healthy for the Weyr.
With his blue eyes travelling about, he landed on a girl who seemed to be enjoying herself well and was pretty to boot. "How about her, over there. Dark hair, pretty smile." B'rek didn't point but rather nodded in her direction so that C'tey could either remark or not. The bluerider might know if the girl was into rankers or not. Some women found men or rank to be amazing while others thought of them as scum.
He managed to nibble at his roll before taking another sip of wine. Again, he glanced at the girl. Maybe she had a friend? Well he wouldn't want to leave C'tey here unaccompanied. Besides the girl could go for C'tey and then where would he be? Alone in the Weyrhall, drinking wine. Worse off than he was at the moment. He hoped that was not going to happen.

Kitya was on the prowl. Again. One thing Kitya yearns for is attention, and affection. She figures if she's with a boy that will solve everything and fill the empty void in her heart. Only problem was, she always found the boys that use her, and after a while of that, she started to hook up just for the fun of it. Well, it had been a while, and Kitya was getting kinda lonely.
Kitya loved to drink, party, and well, in general have all a good time. Tonight a group of her friends were splitting some wine and she decided it would be a good idea to get her sister Kiaran out of her rooms. Kiaran could be such a fuddy duddy sometimes! Well tonight, Kitya was making sure they were going to let loose a bit. Or more than a bit, it depended when the wine dried up. It wasn't too terribly long that they were there when Kitya spied a couple of nice looking men. One especially so, but the other in a more suave way. In other words, she was sure to get some where with the second one. She smiled to B'rek and C'tey, the good and the suave, respectively.
"Hey Kiaran, I think the party is moving that way." She pulled at her sister's elbow to where the boys sat. She figured her sister would probably like the first one better anyway. "Hello boys, how are you this evening?"
She had brought her wine cup with her and at this point took a drink, looking over the rim at C'tey. She smiled, "Mind if we join you?" She went and sat ridiculously close to C'tey as she could, and she would have ended up in his lap if she knew him just a few minutes more.

C'tey had been about to respond to B'rek's suggestion when the woman in question came over, bringing another girl with her. He grinned to the Bronzer, "Hmmm... I think you have good eyes." C'tey watched the young woman as she approached, noticing the sister, just enough to recognize who she was.
"The girl with her with Kiaran, assistant to the Headwoman." He whispered the words to B'rek, thinking that he might be impressed by the young woman's position. But more than that, he hoped that Kitya would chose him, Kia was known to be rather... cold.
Kia knew better than to resist her sister too much. After all, if she stayed with her, then there would be less chance of the younger woman getting into too much trouble. Perhaps, at the very lest, she could make sure that whoever Kitya hooked up with would be a good guy, one who would not hurt her too much.
"Hello, Ladies." C'tey smiled to Kitya as she sat beside him. "And... may I ask who you are? I'd like to know the name of such a beautiful young woman." The words might sound cheesy, but C'tey was genuinely impressed with the young lovely.
Kia smiled, a bit nervously. She was never good at social interactions outside of social settings. Most described her as stiff, unless they described her as ice. "Hello." She definitely did not flirt with B'rek the same way that Kitya did with C'tey. She could appreciate that B'rek was a very nice looking man, and he was a ranker. However, she was still Kia.

B'rek didn't pay much attention to gossip, nor did he have any idea who was who. For the most part he had been busy with the death of his weyrmate and his baby daughter... along with Jenafa coming into power. For all that they were no longer lovers, B'rek was still a friend to the Weyrwoman. The blonde man raised and eyebrow as the young brunette approached, sister in tow.
From afar he could tell that the first was up for more fun but that didn't mean the sister wouldn't be equally interesting. Perhaps she was shy? Anyways, B'rek having been a holdbred boy himself, was more than capable of wooing a more difficult woman. Besides C'tey seemed to have come to the same conclusion as the women had. With an all too charming smile the Bronzer greeted the women. "Well met." He said in an almost formal tone. Realizing this, he cleared his throat. "I'm sure they are wondering the same C'tey."
He took care of the rudeness of his blueriding ally and went on to add, " I'm B'rek of Bronze Gavanth and he is C'tey of blue Elydith." Then glancing at the pretty young woman beside him he said, "And C'tey tells me you are Kiaran." The sad truth was he didn't really spend time meeting with the Headwoman, as A'stin seemed to take care of those things. As such he had never met the Headwoman or her assistant. He knew who Janesa was though.
"Are you two sisters?" He asked only because he noticed some similarities between their faces. If one were to look at them seperately one might not notice but together it seemed that they were.

Kitya's eyes lit up at C'tey's comment and inquiry at her name. Cheesy or not, she bought it hook, line and sinker. She smiled flirtatiously, "Kitya, good sir, but you can call me Kit." Ah yes, her chances with him were very good, she could tell. She took another drink of wine. Hopefully he wouldn't go all noble and refuse her because she was drinking. It made her all the more sure when the good looking man Kia was with (or rather the man she more or less threw Kia at) introduced them. A bluerider, good.
"Oh dragonmen, both of them! How lovely!" She said in surprize. In truth she knew they must be riders, sitting at riders' tables and all, but she also figured they would be proud to be dragonmen. And every girl knew the quickest way to a guys favor was by compliments. Men had terribly large egos.
Of course that they both knew her sister made her feel jealous and a bit put out. Of course Kiaran was a more obvious pick if you desired rank and money. But jeez! Kitya was a pleasure seeker, she knew how to have fun! That must be worth something? She tried to get the attention back to her by giving C'tey a little caress down his back, "So how long have you been riding?"

Kia nodded, "We are." She smiled over to her little sister, and saw that she was already gone, mentally. "I fear that Kit got all the looks though." Kiaran was not really jealous of her gorgeous sister. She was very happy with who she is.
"B'rek." She thought about the name for just a moment. "Oh... you were... I'm so sorry for your loss." Kiaran paid enough attention to the gossip of the weyr to know what was going on. She was not overly concerned with who was with who when, it was all too much for anyone to keep straight, unless it affected chore assignments in the lower caverns. But something like this, a Bronzer becoming "suddenly available" was something that few could miss, though the last thing that Kia wanted to do was take advantage of some guy's pain.
"Kitya? That's a beautiful name. And as B'rek said, I'm C'tey" He grinned warmly to the young woman, having not taken his attention off her for more than a moment. "I've been a Rider for about 11 turns."
His eyes twinkled a bit as he felt the carress. So, Kit wasn't the kind of girl to play shy, but also wanted to have his full attention. Well, that he could give her. He turned slightly more in her direction, but not enough to be rude to B'rek and Kiaran. "I'm not sure if I feel like I've been cheated to not met you before, or honored that I've gotten the pleasure of meeting you for the first time tonight."

B'rek smiled at Kitya's admission that they were sisters. He liked it when he was right about that sort of thing. The Bronzerider was not completely taken by the more exuberant Kitya. In fact it seemed quite obvious to him that they would both be dragonriders. He wasn't belittling the pretty girl but he couldn't see her really being interested in either of them. Although B'rek claimed that he wasn't interested in anything long term, he couldn't help but think that a girl like Kitya was trouble.
He caught Kiaran's comment and tilted his head. "I wouldn't say that. In fact you shouldn't compare yourself to your sister. You are two very different people." B'rek would know. He was a people person. He thought everything would go smoothly, that nothing would be dredged up from his past but it seemed that he was too well known around the Weyr for that to happen. With a hard swallow, he looked away from C'tey, Kitya and Kiaran. He had dealt with things, as well as he could and now he was trying to move on. Not forget but move on. He wanted to get through a couple candlemarks without thinking of her or at least be able to relax and have a good conversation with people without the topic being brought up.
Once he had himself under control his blue eyes rested on Kia. "I guess everyone in the Weyr knows, huh? I've lost and gained." He said, trying to turn a negative thought to a positive one. He still had his daughter and his dragon and he was a Wingsecond. He had a lot to live for. "Not to seem rude, but I'd rather not talk about her tonight." He spoke softly and the way he said her was almost heartbreakingly sweet. Most Bronzeriders had a reputation for taking women without feeling but B'rek had loved and deeply. Now he was alone and even if Kiaran didn't want to bed him, she could still be company for a lonely man on a night that he didn't want to be alone.

Kitya smiled at C'tey, "Wow, eleven! You must be very skilled then! Sometimes I wish I could be a rider, though I'd take a green any day over a gold." And she would. Golds held power, true, but there was a certain responsibility, and a certain reputation. Goldriders were usually said to be fuddy duddies, like her sister. Kitya and no control over a large purse was a bad idea. She liked to gamble and drink and party, and if she didn't run out of money some time, she'd be sure to blow through an entire treasury. And then every one would hate her. So no, she'd rather not ride a gold dragon.
She laughed, "Cheated, surely, because you missed out on the pleasure of accompanying me to the last hatching feast!" Which had been some sevendays ago, but now that Saharth was the only mature queen, who knew when the next hatching would be? Not to mention at the last hatching she had two young men accomanying her, though one didn't know about the other, and it was a mess, and those are minor details. She gave him a winning smile, "I am surprized I had not met or heard of you, actually. Are you weyrbred? Or from the holds?"

Kia nodded, and her expression was soft, a very pretty look on the often hard and determined young woman. "I'm sorry, B'rek, of course we don't have to talk about it." She did feel bad for bringing up a painful subject, but at the same time it was sweet the way he talked about his former mate, the way he seemed to want to protect her memory.
"And thank you." The Assistant Headwoman looked over to her little sister, who seemed to have hit it off well with the Blue Rider. It was common that people knew that inviting the lively Kit meant that having her dowdy sister dragged along was a risk, and yet Kit was popular enough that people dealt with it.
She shook her head slightly and turned her attention back to B'rek, "So. How are you? And your Gavanth?"
C'tey laughed and gently ran the back of his hand down Kitya's cheek. "Hmmm. I would not mind chasing a Green if you were the Rider waiting." To be honest, C'tey never minded when Elydith flew after a Green. "Though I think if something were to happen to you, the Weyr would be a much poorer place."
"I hold bred, though I believe that the Blue who found me saved me from a life I was never meant for." He smiled. The truth was that the Blue had no problem at all fitting into life at the Weyr, and while he might hope for one person he could committ to (not counting flights!), he enjoyed the freedom of relationships that were central to the Weyr.
