Marisol's recent flight had gone well, though she did miss the variety of having more than one man or woman interested in her at the same time. L'sander had been true to his word and flew Seryth until his child would be born. She was feeling a little out of place this morning. Her body had been contracting since the day before but she had panned them out to practice contractions.
It was mid morning, so all the riders were already out and about at drills and so on. L'sander included. While she found he was a good, kind soul, whom she would always consider a friend, she also felt herself becomming bored. Maris wasn't meant for long term relationships. The red head sighed heavily. She was feeling a little tired of this thing in her midsection. Boy or girl it had better get out soon.
Seryth found it all very amusing. That was until that point of worrty and concern came. Her rider was beginning to go into labor and the woman was pretending to be oblivious to it. She wanted the baby out but she didn't want to go through the process of giving birth and for good reason. Too many women on her mother's side of the family, died in childbed or were left very ill.
Oberonth, if you and yours can manage it, Marisol is having the little one, now.
Then the green contacted her father's dragon. M'lon would not miss this, nor would her mother. In her message to them it was clear enough that the dragon meant for them to find a healer. Hers was not panicking...yet. The green did her best to stay calm. Her fears were rational and at this point very tangible.
Maris paced, focused on breathing normally. She could do this. Her mother had had her and hadn't died, though Mari had to take care of her while her mother had recooperated. The rapping on the door was the only thing that seemed to keep her from going down that next step of thoughts.
Her mother and father walked in as she opened the door, they were followed by a couple people she didn't know but whom she assumed were healers. Marisol was in wonderful condition, she was a dragonrider and therefore in great physical shape and pregnancy had suited her just fine. She looked healthy.
Through her light blue eyes, anyone could see she was concerned.

Elra had been forewarned of the difficulties that ran in Marisol’s family by the woman’s mother as she was beaconed to attend the laboring woman. While she always kept a basket ready for a time of birthing, she was careful to take the time to add extra bandages and a few bottles of herbs that she would normally not worry about. With those in tow, she caught sight of Nerine as she threw a shaw over her shoulders and picked up the large basket.
“Nerine, darling, Do you know how to get to the Zahra Wing’s weyrs? I need hot water from the kitchens, and if you can manage to carry extra, a small amount of cold water would be useful as well. There is a birthing in a Green rider’s weyr, her name is Marisol.”
Giving the younger woman a smile, she thanked the enormously helpful candidate and followed the parents to the Green riders weyr with haste. Entering it, her eyes scanned the room before falling on Marisol. The red-head looked healthy, in fact she almost radiated in her pregnancy, but Eisu would not put down her guard.
“Hello Marisol, I think its time for you to lay down. How far apart are your contractions?” Eisu ignored modesty as she moved things off the nearby bed table to place her basket on it.

Nerine nodded as Eisu gave her instruction the young assistant lit off down the halls taking off at a full bolt for the kitchens in the lower caverns. She wove expertly through those walking the halls and entered the kitchens. She made no fuss once she reached the kitchens, finding two large clean buckets she filled one expertly from the pump, while the other she had to unfortunately carry off filled with water that one of the kitchen staff had set to boil. Looping the large buckets over a stave of wood, she carried them on her shoulders gently back.
She reached the weyr of the green rider only scalding herself once. She quickly set down the buckets on a table before anxiously looking to Eisu and the others. Nerine was no stranger to birthing, but she also knew better to get in the healer’s way. She greeted Marisol her smile warm and reassuring.
“Eisu do you need me to fetch anything else?” She said before expertly unpacking the contents of the basket for the healer and throwing on her own apron.

Marisol looked at the two women without even the hesitation of judgement, she smiled warmly at them. "Thank you both for coming. " The red head might be a bit crazy but she was always exceedingly nice. Her mother was giving her that stare that mothers give. If she didn't do what the Healers asked of her she was going to be worse for it.
M'lon, her father, had begun to move for the door. "If you ladies need me, I'll be waiting out here. Tevth will keep in touch with Seryth to make sure she stays calm." Marisol expected him to say something like that. The only person who wasn't there who would want to be was L'sander. If he missed it, well that wasn't her fault. Seryth had contacted Oberonth.
She went to the bed, not putting up a fight about it, though she wanted to. Her mother would be able to talk sense into her anyway. "Anything you say is best. I haven't been counting, should I be?" Maris thought her mind was going to burst, she had so many thoughts swimming around in her mind.

Oberonth relayed the message lazily. The landwalkers had babies all the time. It was nothing as special as dragon hatchings, to be sure! The bronze didn't really feel like it was his first priority, but His had been quite anxious to leave once he did!
Oberonth, how long have you known? I don't know. I was relaxing. Sharding bronze! And like a shot L'sander took off to Marisol's weyr. They didn't love eachother, but it was his baby, and he should be there. He had been worrying, a lot, since her family history wasn't so strong in birthing babies. He barged in unannounced, "Marisol. I'm here now." Not like he was the one deciding when the baby would be born, but he didn't know what else to utter at a time like this.

Eisu gave the female rider a gentle smile as she stepped up to her at the bed. “Yes darling. The closer the contractions are, the sooner we will need you to begin pushing.” Taking one of the woman’s furs, she folded it quickly and placed it beneath the pillow to give the woman extra support. “This could be a long labor, or it could be a short one. It depends on how ready your body is.”
Looking over her shoulder at Nerine, she nodded toward the small, fine fabric bag that lay on the table. “Start making a tea please, with the felis mixture and some chamomile. The chamomile will help with the flavor and the anxiety should we find need for the felis.”
Eisu nodded then to the father’s comment of waiting outside, but after his words sunk in she turned around with her eyes a little wider. “Where is the green now? Are you sure she will stay calm?” despite her time with M’ren’s brown, Eisu couldn’t help but still be intimidated by the large creatures.
At the sudden appearance of a new rider, Eisu blinked at him before deciding he must have been the father. While she waited for answers about the green and the contractions, she gently lifted the rider’s knees and put her ankles closer to her body making sure to keep her touch light.
((Sorry about the slight wait. I'll keep on top of this now so we can get it rolling.))

Nerine followed the healer’s instructions intently, though the girl was now studying dragon healing she still retained every lesson learned in the tutelage of Eisu. The potion concocted she handed the goblet to Eisu. Giving a scrupulous glance at the newest addition to the growing populous of the room she simply shook her head and awaited instruction.

"Oh don't worry about Seryth. She understands. I've explained very carefully what will be happening." The smile on her face began to vanish as she felt a contraction and winced ever so slightly. "There's one." The red head wondered what they could possibly gain from knowing the timing. Marisol had never been that good with healing skills, even in Weyrling training, she had better hope nothing ever happened to her or Seryth in that time. Then L'sander entered and made things a bit more complicated.
"Thank you for coming. You can stand next to me but don't get in either healer's way." She said with the brightest, bravest smile she could manage. Normally she would laugh something this serious off as nothing but this was her and it was her history. The Healers were both women which was odd but not necessarily a bad thing. They might even understand better what was going on.
She felt odd and then she was wet, the bed was wet. "I don't think I wet the bed but it feels wet...." Hoping that was normal she turned her head to see everyone's expressions. No one seemed at all suprised, perhaps a little caught off guard but not suprised.

((I'm gonna bring this to a close here))
Marisol's birth was not as horrible as she thought it would be. There was pain, yes, but she was well prepared for that. Her body, being that of a dragonrider, was in good shape and made the pushing that much easier. The babe arrived, not moving, not crying and certainly not breathing. Maris was torn between grief and relief but as another wave of contractions came, she realized her birth was more complicated than it had first seemed. While one healer worked with her the other was trying to revive the dead baby. Maris did not let herself think of it. There was another one in there and she had to do her best to focus on it.
The boy came out shouting his lungs off. He was his mother's child from his light tufts of red hair to his exuberant display of energy. His tiny arms reached out to the world as the women washed him.
Maris was suprised at the overwhelming love she felt for the little boy, even as she thought this, Seryth entered her mind. Well done on your first clutching. He is like you, only small...Its a good thing too, any bigger and I think I would have preferred to keep him where he was.
The women handed her the boy and continued to tell her how her daughter was born dead, although Maris already knew that. She nodded and held on to her baby boy with increased wariness. "You can let father and L'sander in now."
