Neory was giving Sheluth a good scrub. The golden Queen had grown quite a bit from the tiny dragonet who had first impressed to Neory. She was a good size and had a couple more months of growing yet. Adeloth's recent flight and the obvious growth of Sheluth had Neory thinking specifically about Sheluth's first flight. The fact of the matter was that the young Queen Rider still had no real idea as to who would probably be the one to catch the Gold.
So as she scrubbed Sheluth, the two discussed the Bronze pairs, what they knew about them. What they thought about them. It was an entirely silent conversation, though there were a couple of times that some of it would be reflected on the face of the young woman - either in a grin or a soft chuckle.
Because she was scrubbing Sheluth, Neory chose not to worry about dressing up. Instead she wore an old shirt and a pair of pants that fit slightly snug. She was not concerned how she was seen while taking care of the marvelous Queen; after all, all eyes would - and should - be on Sheluth.

R'net had, when first coming to report at Telgar, hidden his dragon on the outskirts of the Weyr, and entered on foot. However, that was stupid, as it drew attention to anyone who spotted him. In the two turns(for him) he'd been reporting, that had faded into making Torenth sun away from everyone else, and keeping himself distant, but not hiding away.
Thus, he was unfortunate enough to see Neory, and feel himself strongly missing her, and her calm, soothing nature. And notice the beauty of her Queen, and realize that he truly missed talking to her, duties and such taking up his mind being of no account.
So, he found himself pushing away rule that he shouldn't speak to anyone. He pushed away the fact that he'd been a little downtrodden for all of the nearly three turns he'd been in a different time. And he did something he would have probably never done if Mari was alive.
He took a chance, and greeted Neory.
"Hello." R'net smiled, standing close to Neory, and trying to be inconspicuous as his red hair would allow.
"How've you been?"

Neory smiled seeing her friend. She could see some of how the turns - two? three? it was confusing and hard to keep track of - had treated him. He didn't seem his usual jovial self.
With a quick interchange with Sheluth, who agreed to a break in washing if she could swim so as not to draw so much attention to them, she climbed off the rock she was using as a perch and moved closer to R'net. "Hey! Aren't you supposed to be avoiding people." There was a twinkle in her eye making it clear that she was teasing him.
She gave him a brief hug, "Its good to see you, R'net. I'm well. Sheluth's almost full grown, which is kind of..." she shrugged slightly, "interesting. But we're well. How are you doing? How's everyone doing? I mean... I don't need the full report. I'll get the important parts from Elisha later. Just... how are you?"

"Never much good at avoiding people." R'net admitted with a smile. "Been missing talking to new people." Anyone other than the twentyish people he saw day in, day out. He hugged the young Queenrider back. Dear shells, he was feeling old. Horribly old.
"And you, my dear, are looking quite well. I believe Sheluth agrees with you." His eyes and grin were friendly, rather than lecherous. Though it was definitely a close thing. His poise around beautiful women must have been deteriorating. Or something like that.
R'net knew that his thinking wasn't as clear as it had once been, and was often far more grateful for advice than he'd once been. While parts of his changing personality was a good thing, he wished his smoothness hadn't been the first bit to leave.
"We're all fine, mostly. Bits of temper here and there, but nothing insane. Everything seems to be smoothing out. But; are there any questions you'd like to ask me? I don't know if you've found a new pet bronzer, but if you haven't, I'll answer any questions you have. Bronzes and Queens are different of course, but I still might know enough to help."

R'net did not seem that much older to Neory, a bit, but she would not have described as old. More care worn, yes, but not old.
"She does. I love having her. She's... amazing. Marisol warned me that there would be sacrifices, but Sheluth is more than worth anything I gave up." She blushed, "Did that sound as horribly cheesy as I think it did?"
She playfully smacked his arm, not hard at all, "Pet bronzer? I don't think I've ever thought in quite those terms. You're a friend, R'net. A good friend. But... no." She shrugged, "I've been so busy, and just haven't had time. I miss you being around. Not just because we have a history, but you were always a good friend."
A deep breath and a smile, "Hmmm, questions?" She chuckled, "Do they ever become less vain?" She didn't really mind, who could? Sheluth had every right to be vain, but she did wonder if that changed as the dragon continued to mature.

You know, Gliath said, perched up on the low cliff above the lakeIf you are wanted to go out to the marker and back, it would have been much faster to have flown
J'ren had taken to running, trying to improve himself. The point is the exercise, not speed of travel. He had made it up the trail and was working his way around the lake, wanting nothing more than to be done and wash the sweat and trail dust from his skin.
Gold Sheluth is looking more the image of a queen everyday Gliath watched her swimming in the lake.
J'ren finally slowed down and walked a few dozen paces before stopping to scoop water from the lake and cool his face. He stretched his arms above his head as he worked on slowing his breathing. He was directly in front of the door from the bowl to the weyr when he spotted Neory and another dragonrider, R'net.

R'net smiled again, this one friendly and sweet. If it had more to do with Neory's question, or that she had yet to find a new pet bronzer, only R'net and Torenth knew, and neither of them were going to tell. At least not yet.
"Absolutely not. They'll remain this vain forever, and then get worse whenever they do something spectacular. Or just because. Not that you'll care. At a certain point, you might as well pretend that they should be that vain, and spoil them more."
R'net winced suddenly, and looked up at the sky and sun. "Neory, while normally I would make a crack about having all of the time in the world for you, right now I have to go back. They're right about keeping me from hanging about, no matter how loath I am to leave your company." R'net smiled, and waited to be dismissed by the young Queenrider.
