The day had arrived, Graduation! Amneris couldn't keep herself calm. She was so excited! she had her leathers on, quite ready for promotion. When she moved up to a Wing, her new Wingleader would give her her new Rank cords, those of a Wingrider! Labeth too was happy. They would have a weyr now as well and more space and hopefully they could enjoy being a part of a wing.
The tall blonde wore a smile to go with her leathers, her hair was pulled back in a long braid. She wanted to look the part of a rider. A hard thing for a slight, sixteen turn old girl. She wondered if her age would at all deter a wing from taking her on. The Weyrlings of her class were all gathered in a hallway, waiting for the Graduation to begin. Maybe things would go as smoothly as she hoped they would but it was doubtful.
The kitchens had been preparing all day for this celebration. Though this class had suffered some losses, they seemed to be a fine young group of riders. This would be a long Graduation, as Adeloth laid rather large clutches. This was also a celebration that the Weyr continued to bring about excellent new dragonriders, fulfilling its purpose as protectors of Pern. This was going to be a wonderful evening for everyone.

M'ren looked around at all of his Weyrlings, all who were about to graduate. It was a good feeling to look around and see all of the faces who were going on to be in Wings, top three or not, who'd survived. There was also a hollow feeling in his chest, one that spoke of all the faces that had not made it to this moment. But mostly he could hide that fact away, long enough for the ceremony to be over, and a chance to get something to drink presented itself.
"Settle down." He called to a few Weyrlings who had yet to realize that, in the eyes of the Weyr, they were about to become adults. And then, falling back on pre planned steps, he gave his Graduation Speech. And only some parts were aimed at the younglings in the group.
"Today, you become Wingriders in the great Weyr of Telgar. Know that this means responsibilities, and privileges. Know that this means you embark on your new lives, and may they be as rich and prosperous in all things as you deserve." M'ren smile sweetly, and looked at all of his Graduating class.
"Now, enter the hall with a minimum of fuss. And sit at the Senior Weyrling Tables."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
N'zule was watching the Graduation Ceremony with glee. Nisha, his favorite niece, was Graduating, and he knew that she was going to be picked by one of the Top Flight Wings, a real accomplishment. Smiling down from his table, he waited to see who had been picked for Nisha: and Pyralis as well!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
R'net had returned to this time for Graduation. As Wingsecond, he would be tapping some of the Weyrlings for his Wing. Besides, it was as good a time as any for reporting in. And sometimes Rank had it's privileges. He liked Graduation, and like Hatchings, he hated to miss them.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
P'len stood proud and straight, and didn't much care what Wing he was going to be tapped into. Inside of him, a little war was occurring, one that proudly declared that it didn't care of Rank, especially since it was only open to those who Impressed. The other side was thinking wistfully how nice it would be to have an outward trapping of the leadership he thought he showed. And another side which was just excited for his very own weyr. Oh bliss, and the chance to entertain the womenfolk again. Sooon!
And to think; there was a party after this.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Nisha was nervous about this new step. Moving into her own weir, no more lessons, just Wing Practice, being a true adult. Deep breath in, let it out slowly. Oh, this was a little much for her to handle. But what did it matter? This was happening, and she would deal with it, and come out stronger in the end.
By the egg, what was she agonizing over anyway? She was 'Samith's Rider, and 'Samith, at least, was ready to be a full Rider. They would make it through her doubts and insecurities, just as they had before, and they would make it work. And having her own weir would be oh so nice.

Though Rory had been to several of these, this one was probably going to be his favorite, unless of course Nishor impressed and graduated. The baby had come, dressed as nicely as his father, in a nice pair of black pants, a wine red shirt and a pair of fairly well made shoes. Rory didn't match but he was wearing a blue shirt and brown pants. Anyone would know they were related. It was their eyes. Rory and Nishor had the most beautiful gray eyes.
He sat at the Weyrfolk tables but made sure to locate N'zule, so he could find him later. The greenrider was sitting with Pyralis, looking handsome, as usual. Rory smiled and sat Nishor down on his lap, saying sweetly to the one turn old, "Wait till we see mommy!" The word mommy was a very well known word. Little Nishor smiled. He loved his mommy.
---
Marisol was seated with Zahra wing. She doubted they were going to be getting too many new riders, just from the look on E'riol's face, she could almost gauruntee it. Still there was going to be a feast and dancing and wine. More than enough reason to be there. Her mother and father were there too. She'd have to go over and talk to them before she went wild with it. Her mother was taking care of her son after all.
----
Ph'yn sat in wait, with the Weyrlings. He wondered where his brother would be going. It was exciting. He hoped he would get placed in one of the wings he wanted. Ph'yn had no doubt his brother was good enough to get into any wing he wanted. The boy sat next to his Weyrling pal, A'drazo. He knew what A'drazo would be happy to see... the feast.

Neory had mixed feelings. Graduation was wonderful, and there was no question in the Goldrider's mind that not spending time in training would be good. But there was also the fact that she would not be considered fully graduated until her now almost glowing Gold flew. And that brought a mix of nerves and excitement. And a touch of worry.
As the highest ranking member of the Weyrling class, she was to lead the others out. She smiled at M'ren's speech, and then took a deep breath. Nodding after a moment, she lead the others out, putting Sheluth's glowingness out of her mind for the moment being.
***
Jeyna was positively giddy today. Amneris would graduate and there would be no more need to be careful with the younger woman, though there had not really been for a while now. She grinned as she thought of the young woman, hoping that she would be called to join them at the Triveni table, and looking forward to giving the young woman the "weyr warming gift" that she'd made for her - with a tiny bit of help from Pixie.
***
V'nes was sulking. He had tried to get out of attending the graduation, but had been told in no uncertain terms that he would be present. No one said he had to be happy though. They had said that he was not allowed to drink until after the graduation. All in all, he was miserable.
***
Daevon on the other hand wasd positively beaming. The pride and happiness that the Dragon Healer felt from the Dragons of Telgar Weyr was enough to affect the older man. There were few events that affected him as much as this, and he had decided to enjoy it as much as possible.

J'ren sat at the table with the other members of Triveni wing; between R'net and Jeyna. He turned to speak to R'net "It's a good looking group of graduates, hope there are a few in there who will join Triveni Wing."
He'd heard good things about several of the weyrlings; Nisha of green Barsamith and P'len of bronze Nargoth might both make good members. "Any you have your eye on?" He addressed the last question to both of the riders. Both were older, more experienced members of the wing.

Blah de blah. Speeches were great and all but she was way too excited to be paying any attention to what was actually being said. She only heard the words, responsibilities and priveledges, new lives and something about the Senior Weyrling Tables. She assumed that meant they were about to face the ceremony.
Amneris followed Neory's suit and walked into the Weyrhall with a ready smile on her face, headed toward the Senior Weyrling Tables. The excitement only intensified seeing all the people crowded into the Weyrhall. Almost the entire Weyr attended these events as was evident by the large mass of people.
The tall girl didn't really look at her classmates because she could feel their anxiousness as much as her own. What if they didn't get into one of the top wings? What exactly would it be like to be a fully fledged Wingrider? Amneris couldn't wait to find out!

Jeyna almost laughed at being asked that question. She really had no interest in leadership, but, for once, she did have an interest in the question at the very least. Not something she'd usually care about as Blue Rider, but this time, this time she did.
"Amneris of Green Labeth." She smiled as she kept her eyes almost fixated on the young woman once she entered the hall.
Her being a different wing would not complicate things too much, but Jeyna would much prefer for the young woman to be in Triveni. Her eyes sparkled at the thought of her weyr being close to Jeyna's, and wondering how often the young woman would need her own, hoping to make that rare.
