He has big eyebrows that also seem to draw attention to his eyes, and an ever present little grin. His nose is a bit bigger than average, but it fits his boyish face well. Relanell tends to grow out a bit of stubble on his chin and cheeks when the weather gets colder.
Nell can usually be found wearing gray hued clothing. He does prefer bright and tealish green colored clothing to show off his allegiance to the Healer Hall, but such garish colors can be expensive and harsh on a Journeyman's belt pouch.

Personality: Nell is a very logical man. Growing up with so many sisters did not make him any more emotional, or more able to cope with emotions, when it comes to relationships and women. Sure, Nell can understand and comfort the nervous or greiving next-of-kin of his patients because he logical understands those emotions, but most of the emotions in relationships are beyond his grasp. He often feels awkward and uncomfortable when the women he's involved with try to talk about things, about why they're upset with him, about how he never talks about their future together, and so on. Basically, he seems to frustrate women as he can't completely understand them.
Beside that, Relanell is a cool, calm, collected man that is rarely stressed or frazzled. As a healer, especially one that focuses on the limited surgical techniques available on Pern, Relanell has faced some stressful situations in his life, but he usually manages to keep his cool. Nell also has a strong attention and dedication to detail. When given a task to complete he might get it done a little slower than others, but he'll do it better than just about anyone. This personality trait, combined with his natural tendency to be very neat in both his appearance and personal hygiene, make him an excellent candidate to practice surgery.

Relanell is the oldest of their nine children, and only one of three boys. Whenever young Relanell went near his father's herds he ended up with watery eyes and sneezing fits, and he was soon diagnosed with an allergy to runnerbeasts. Since Relanell spent much of his early childhood indoors, he spent more time with his sisters Tharidne and Irveryn then he would have if he could have been his father's apprentice. As a youngster, Relanell enjoyed reading his father's notes about his runnerbeasts, especially the details about common surgical remedies.
By the time Relanell reached twelve turns, the age when most boys choose to become apprenticed or not, he had a gaggle of siblings and an itch to leave Keroon Hold. His early interest in the theoretical practice of healing runnerbeasts, combined with the realization that he would never be able to effectively join the beastcraft, lead him to Fort Hold and the Healer Hall.
Relanell immediately enjoyed the respite from his allergies that he found at the Healer Hall, not to mention the unfamiliar, but interesting, group of brothers that he found in his fellow apprentices. Relanell was always one of the smaller apprentices, but he was usually smart enough to avoid tussles with the rougher lads, and he made friends by helping the other boys with their anatomy and general lessons.
His apprenticeship went on without much incident, and Relanell earned the right to walk the tables to journeyman shortly after his eighteenth turn. Immediately after becoming a journeyman, Relanell found himself stationed to Crom and the surrounding minor holds and cotholds. Relanell enjoyed his time at Crom, even if he was serving just a general healer for the miners and cotholders, but he was next sent to Bitra, which was definitely not enjoyable. Relanell did not enjoy the Bitran Lord Holder, which seems to be common, and he spent his half a turn there avoiding the man.
After Crom and Bitra, Relanell served at Igen, Nabol, Telgar, Nerat, and Ista Holds and briefly at High Reaches Weyr. Recently, Relanell has returned to the Healer Hall in order to focus on his surgery specialization a bit more, and to await his next assignment.
