Character Info:
Name: L'res / Lares
Age: 23 (1030)
Gender: Male
Rank: Wingrider
Family:
Father, L'ws (58), rider of Bronze Telemonth. L'res has always known who his father was, and while L'ws recognized the boy as his, and would occasionally inquire after him or bring him a small gift, he didn't play any active role in L'res life. The one memorable event was the day that L'res Impressed Zaneth, where L'ws took him aside and told him how he was proud to be his father and how he was certain L'res would make a fine rider some day.
Mother: Ariana (41) was the third daugher from a farmcrafter family from Telgar Hold. She came to Telgar Weyr as a young candidate, and when she failed to Impress by the time she turned 18, she decided instead to stay at the Weyr. She has born several children by riders, and chose to raise them herself, rather than fostering them. She kept a very hands-off approach, though, making sure they were cared for and kept in check without being too close and mothering.
He has half-siblings by both parents, although he doesn't feel any strong connection with any of them. He never kept track of those on his fathers side, and the ones on his mothers' side were around but younger and just kids.
Appearance: Only of middling height, L'res has spent many a day training his body (not just in small part from his dragon's insistence that Rider at least attempt to be as attractive as Dragon), creating a physical presence that stature alone could never acheive. Fond of white and light earth colors, he knows what clothing he looks good in, tending toward well-cut, form-fitting that is noticable but never flashy. In casual situations, more often than not his shirts are without sleeves, revealing well-developed arms that he's very aware of the effect they have on most people.
L'res has a head of unruly blond hair kept manageable by a short cut. He's often seen mussing the top and casually smoothing the sides, appearances being everything, after all. Golden brown eyes are not afraid to meet another's gaze, and he's rarely the first to look away. His lips form an ever present half-smile, working together with his eyes to create subtle changes to from amused, to indifferent, to mocking, to suggestive. Yes, quite often the latter.
Personality: L'res holds the confidence of one accustomed to success. Son of a bronze Wingsecond, he took plenty of bragging rights as a child, despite very limited interaction with his father. Impressing at the age of 16 only reinforced that confidence at the point where the teen needed it most. While he doesn't typically act superior to those around, he's not ashamed to use his status as a Rider and his good looks to get what he wants.
L'res is a daredevil at heart. Competitive by nature, almost anything can be turned into a wager, race or some form of challenge, generally starting out friendly in nature. When
his nerve might begin to fail, his dragon's is always there to bolster it, and often the pair find themselves in crazy situations where the stakes have just been raised higher and higher until some mild disaster is bound to occur.
A young man, well aware of his good looks, L'res shows no sign of settling down with any one weyrmate. He's quick to turn on charm whenever someone of either sex catches his eye. Having matured at nearly the same pace, neither Dragon nor Rider find virtue in restraint, and are quick to prod the other into action and congratulate each other on their successes.
History: Son of a Bronze Rider and a kitchen woman, the result of a frustrated mating flight, Lares learned early on how to use both these facts to leverage what he wanted, be it gloating about his father's heroics, or wheedling snacks for him and his friends. Quick thinking, he used these details to gain respect among his peers and never suffered from a lack of followers. The mastermind of much mischief in his corner of the weyr, he knew how to delegate and dare, and only rarely could the acts be traced back to him.
A few might call him trouble, but for all his mischief, Lares was never mean-spirited--simply driven by a desire to explore and to show off, the kind of child that would poke anything or take something apart just to see what happened.
He stood as a candidate at age 12, and though he feigned indifference, secretly he dreamed of becoming a rider, and with each clutch he grew more anxious that he might not. Four turns later, not quite a child, yet not quite an adult, he finally Impressed just in time to give his fragile male ego a needed boost.
He and Zaneth excelled in their training, growing through their awkward years together and as they have matured, they have become ideally suited for each other. Their flying is truly a thing of beauty, with the last 5 years of flight having outgrown any awkwardness. Able to anticipate each others' actions, they move together as one, able to build off each others' strengths and complement each others' weaknesses (although neither of them would admit them as that). They are often found attempting risky, showy stunts, but other than minor scrapes and bruises, somehow they've managed to avoid any serious injury.

Dragon Info:
Name: Zaneth
Age: 7
Color: Blue
Appearance: Zaneth's blue coloring near approaches turquoise, the color of tropical oceans on white sand shores, a fact he takes great pride in. At 26 feet long, what he lacks in length, he makes up in lean muscle. Swift and agile, he loves to show off with shows of aeronautical acrobatics, knowing full well how to take advantage of light and space to show off his best assets.
Personality: Zaneth shares his rider's confidence to an even greater extent, approaching arrogance at times. In word, he presents a semblance of respect to his elders, although L'res is often privy to the snarky remarks when the dragon disagrees. He has sense enough to do as instructed, although he continually searches for loopholes, however minor, to exert his independance.
History: Even as a hatchling, Zaneth possessed a high self-regard. Unlike many of his clutch, he was in no rush to emerge from his shell, taking his time to break through. Once out of his shell, he waddled (gracefully!) about, from candidate to candidate, dismissing each in turn. Finally, reaching Lares, he studied him for many long moments before giving a distainful sniff. "I suppose you'll do, L'res, Rider of Blue Zaneth." Despite the feigned indifference of the words, though, there was a underlying sense of acceptance and bonding, before he began ordering the boy to feed him.
He is a demanding dragon, pushing his rider to set higher and higher physical goals for both of them, together and individually, and always has a mocking remark ready whenever L'res might want to give up--which in truth is why the pair perform so well and why Rider is in such prime condition.
Despite the constant banter, though, the bond of dragon and rider goes deep, fiercely loyal to the other. While an insult to the person directly is likely to be met with distained amusement, an insult to his partner will surely be met with fists and talons.
