Appearance:
J'tre is a tall man, standing at just about 6'1''. As with most dragonriders, J'tre maintains a very fit, leanly muscled figure. His waist is trim and he's certainly not bulky, but he isn't skinny either. He may be in his middle turns now, but J'tre has maintained a full head of light brown hair that is just beginning to show hints of gray. He prefers to keep his hair short, off of his forehead and ears, in the style that most dragonriders seem to favor. His eyes are his mothers, the mixture of green and brown being almost exactly the same as Jevaisa's, and his broad forehead and strong chin are his father's.
The greenrider prefers to keep his clothing and appearance simple and neat. His rank as a greenrider has never given him a large wealth of marks, but he does like to keep himself fairly well-kept looking. He favors earthy tones, as his mate V'ceo used to tell him that they played up the color in his eyes, and simple, functional cuts. He quite often just dons his riding gear and riding boots.
Personality: J'tre enjoys social gatherings and light-hearted company. He has heard his father boast of the influence that having a brownrider father had on him, so he jokingly tells Q'tre that having a bronzerider father made him into a charming little greenrider with little sense. The latter is not true, of course, J'tre is a very sensible and empathetic man. He likes to think that he can usually tell what people are feeling, even if they don't want to divulge that information, but of course he can be wrong. While he rather enjoys being in a group of his fellows, he also relishes the quiet moments alone with his own thoughts or with another.
Much like his father, he does tend to keep certain emotions to himself. He doesn't like to cry in front of anyone, though he is compassionate enough to accept the tears of another and try to soothe the hurt that caused them. He also usually tries to mask and hide anything that upsets or distresses him. He's very secretive in that way, and it can be a battle to draw out what is really bothering him. J'tre is a good listener, except when it comes to himself. He does not readily accept advice, though constructive criticsm is usually well received.
History: J'tre, born Jevatre, was the only child born of the short-lived pairing between Q'tre of Bronze Tlanth and Jevaisa, a kitchenworker at Fort Hold. Little Jevatre was raised in Fort Weyr's creche at his father's suggestion and his mother's agreement. As a child, young Jevatre lived a simple Weyrbrat's life. His bronzerider father certainly acknowledged him, but the man's duties kept him from being anywhere near the traditional father figure. Jevatre understood the nature of Weyrlife though, and he accepted his father's time limitations and embraced the foster mothers in the Weyr. By the time he was only three turns old, his older half-brother Qualre left Fort Weyr for his apprenticeship, so the two never really interacted as children. He did, however, find an annoying playmate in his younger half-brother Jevanal (J'nal).
Just as his father Q'tre had hoped, Jevatre never considered anything but dragonriding for his own profession. Sure, he watched Qualre go off on an adventure to the Mining Craft, but dragons and Weyrlife were what Jevatre wanted. The young lad's life was simple until he reached the age of about thirteen when other boys started to really notice the Weyr's young women, and he found himself only looking at those same boys. Sure, the Weyr was likely the best place for Jevatre to have such feelings without much prejudice from his fellows, but things aren't always so smooth. Some of his longtime playmates seemed to drift away, but the ones that really mattered stuck around. Jevatre's foster mother spoke to the boy one night about the greatness of green dragons, how the lithe little creatures used to speed through the air saving their larger wingmates from nasty threadscores, and he was sold. He wanted a little green, and he was given the chance when he officially became a candidate that turn.
Jevatre stood on the hatching sands for the first time in his fourteenth turn. The eggs cracked this way and that, but none of the newly hatched dragons went wobbling towards Jevatre. The youngster kept his hopes up, not everyone impressed the first time around, and there really weren't that many eggs when there were so many deserving boys. Besides, his father told him to keep his chin up and reminded him that he had dragonriding in his blood. Someday, an egg would hatch his way. The same excitement and disappointment continued for Jevatre on the sands until he was eighteen. He stood on the sands, head high, hazel eyes eager, as the eggs began cracking. Finally, a little egg split neatly into thirds and a nearly black little green spilled forth. She picked her short wings up gently and walked straight to Jevatre.
During his time as a candidate, Jevatre had some small flings with other candidate lads, but his main focus was on impressing so there was nothing serious. As He and Olth joined the ranks of Weyrlings, the young man's time was filled with feeding, oiling, bathing, lessons, and so on and so forth. He didn't have time to even consider much beyond that until after his graduation. Shortly after graduation, Olth reminded J'tre that she was a female dragon and she rose for her first flight. The young green was caught easily by an older brown, and J'tre learned first hand that weyrmates usually don't love each other.
Olth continued to rise for mating flights on a routine basis, but it was not until J'tre was about thirty that he finally met a bluerider and weyrmate that he truly loved. V'ceo's blue Fytaath beat out browns and even bronzes to win little green Olth in the air, and the two riders began a long-term relationship. V'ceo was wonderful. Compassionate, thoughtful, and a great listener. He and J'tre would spend candlemarks talking, with J'tre doing the bulk of it as V'ceo was rather introverted. The two truly cared for each other and they became almost inseperable about the Weyr.
In 1045, the illness hit Pern, and Fort Weyr was not spared. Many came down with the sickness, including V'ceo. J'tre hoovered by his mate's beside, doing everything and anything he could do help his mate and the healers. Its no wonder that J'tre himself caught the sickness with all the time he spent right by V'ceo, but the greenrider kept doing anything he could for his weyrmate. The bluerider finally sucumbed to the illness after three days of feverish thrashing, and J'tre collasped out of exhaustion and sickness. His recovery was slow, since he had pushed himself so far, but considered complete. After V'ceo's death he began having nightmares and then he couldn't sleep at all. While he had always been a stellar wingrider, his performance during wing drills started to slip. He was advised to see the Weyr's Healer for something to help him rest, and he has been drinking fellis laced wine since. Of course, his wing performance did not improve, so he has been transferred out of Fort with the hope that he will improve in a new environment, but it seems as if the man can't function without the drought that makes his memory hazy.

Dragon Info:
Name: Olth
Age: 27 Turns
Color: Green
Appearance: Olth is a very dark, nearly black in lowlight conditions, little green. Her coloration is solid throughout her hide, except for a touch of just slightly lighter mottling on her underside. Her body is well conditioned and toned, just like that of her rider, and her neck and tail are perfectly proportioned. Her wings may be a touch small for her body size, but her flight abilities are unaffected by that oversite.
Personality: Olth is first and foremost a green. Keeping that in mind, she's incredibly flirtatious and show-offy when male dragons are present, but she also has a more serious, somber side to her. Olth tends to worry, within the limitations of her dragon memory, and get herself worked up about things. Of course, she cares deeply about J'tre, and her chief concern is for him, especially now. She tends to trust easily and completely, but she sometimes finds it difficult to speak out to those she doesn't know well.
History: Olth's small, yellow and brown speckled egg was the eleventh of the day to hatch on the day that J'tre will never forget. The little green seemed a touch more graceful than most of her clutchmates, and she carefully carried her small wings over her head in order to avoid tripping over them. The green had no hesitation in choosing young Jevatre.
~~J'tre, there will be food left for me, right? I hope they save some for me, for I am very hungry. I am Olth!~~
With that, the pair became weyrlings and Olth became J'tre's life. Shortly after their graduation from weyrling training Olth took to the skies for her first mating flight. The brown that caught her that day did not become her long-term weyrmate, and the same pattern played out for about twelve years. In Olth's first turn she was caught by blue Fytaath, and she would subsequently allow the blue to catch her for many more mating flights. Recently, Fytaath went between due to his rider's illness, and Olth has become riddled with worry for her rider. She worries so much for him, but in a new Weyr she is surrounded only by people and dragons she does not know.
