He tan’s well, and his hair is darker though subtle traces of grey are beginning to show. Fine lines show the faintest hints of his age, but for a man of forty he is remarkably in shape.
He is 6' exactly, with a leaner frame. His son Edvar takes after him a great deal though the boy threatens to over take him in height there is a scar across the left ribcage from where He impressed Unferth and the dragon inadvertently mauled him. As a result he also walks with a limp.
Personality: An entertaining drunk, a wise man sober and a bit of a prankster in some respects W’lam is a fairly balanced person, well aside from his womanizing tendencies. The children he has he adores, and there are likely some he has no inkling of. Nerine earns a special place being his first born daughter, and he is rather protective of her despite Weyr breeding. He expects a great deal of her and her brother, Edvar, and sometimes he doesn’t realize what lengths his children will go to, to earn his respect and favor.
He is stern when need be, and has one hell of a temper tied to one very short fuse, he’s proud stubborn and obstinate. Not to mention always right. He believes in chivalry, and in the mission of the dragon riders, he also knows beyond a shadow of a doubt that thread is returning and no one will convince him differently. He is the kind of man other men look up to, because he is unafraid to lead by example rather than hide behind his men, he’s the kind of man women like, because he is capable of passion and sensitivity, though his roving eye will be his end.
As a wing leader he is hard core, His wing trains hard, and follows the traditions handed down for four hundred years. He is loyal to the Weyr leaders, loyalty being one of his most outstanding qualities; he is the man who gets the job done. There is little softness when it comes to his duties, you get the job done, and does it right or there will be hell to pay. Most of his wing refers to him as ‘the old man’ even though he is only 42. He demands respect from his riders, regardless of their rank, and expects that when an order is given it is to be followed.
History: Weyr born and bred there would be no other life for W’lam. His father was a brown rider, and his family line traced back for generations of dragon riders with the occasional Harper thrown in. He was taught that it was his duty to serve Pern, and that with the elevated status of dragon riders came enormous responsibilities and hazards that few but those who bonded with the great beasts knew.
His siblings to succeeded, though the illness claimed several lives within his family, most of them still serve in the Telgar Weyr. They are as close as a Weyr family can be expected to be, perhaps a little tighter, for their ancestors tended to be a little clannish.
A trouble maker from the beginning he was always getting into scraps as a youngling, and this actually prevented him from standing thrice. W’lam would not be denied however and when he did stand he was impressed to Unferth. Though having a dragon settled him down considerably, after Unferth was old enough he didn’t have any qualms with sewing his oats. Danue arguably his longest monogamous partner gave birth to three of his five children.
Nerine was the first and her father’s pride and joy, he has always been protective of his daughter, and has always expected great things from her. Though she hasn’t impressed yet he feels certain her time will come eventually, if she is patient. He is proud of her skills she has developed under the care of the Telgar healers, and it is obvious to everyone he adores her.
Edvar was the second born and the first born son. W’lam adores his son but has even greater expectations of the boy than for his daughter. He hopes to see the boy follow in his father’s footsteps and lead Pyralis wing when he retires. He is proud of his boy’s genius and ingenuity, even if his son is nearly a carbon copy of the father.
Ahryin is more like W’lam’s grandmother than he would ever care to admit, she has the same stubborn temper and strong single minded ambition. There is a rift between him and this child, mostly because he doesn’t understand her, Unlike Nerine, who was a quiet and studios girl Little Ahryin is a social butterfly and with her bright locks and deep brown eyes threatens to develop into a stunning beauty.
After his relationship with Danue ended, He shared his bed with Shana a green rider of the Weyr. While she lived she made his every waking moment miserable, and often he would pick up supply trips and other such tasks no one else cared for only to escape her, he has had two children by this woman the first being a boy as dumb and crazy as his mother.
The second was a girl child named Kendal who was the sweetest creature anyone could have ever met. She was fostered after their mother died, of the disease which ravaged half of Pern. He still keeps an eye out for her and the boy, though he has reason to suspect that neither is his.

Dragon Info:
Name: Unferth
Age: 28
Color: Bronze
Appearance: Unferth is a larger sized bronze, making up for lack in speed with incredible stamina. Usually he is the first in the air and the last to land, he pushes himself to his limits. His hide is a deep bronzy hue with traces of green across his wing bones and legs his face is a darker bronze, almost brown with a deep green splash across his muzzle. His body is in good proportion, aside from slightly larger wings and over muscling in the wing and hind quarters, as a result he will never be the fastest bronze, but he makes up for it in being able to launch off the ground quicker and stay in the air longer. There are scars on the wingtips from awkward tumbles as a weyrling, and a spot on his tail where his hide cracked between as a weyrling.
Personality: The saying like dragon like rider applies well in this instance, or perhaps like rider like dragon would be more fitting. Unferth lacks the more playful nature of his rider, but abides to the same standards of duty and honor. He expects lower ranked dragons to behave according to their status, and expects absolute loyalty. He doesn’t demand too much attention from his rider, enough to keep his belly full and his hide pristine.
He is not overly amours, and prefers queen flights to green flights, as he feels they are more of a challenge. However he uses green’s all the same to relieve tensions. He is used to getting what he wants and has no qualms about giving orders. He cares for those in his wing, but he also expects more of them than most wingleaders. He is proud of what they can accomplish and pushes them constantly to do their best. More a creature for practicality than good looks, he is not overly vain about his hide, so long as it is serviceable and doesn’t itch. He however spends more time working through drills than hunting up canidates. Aside from special occasions he prefer's to leave it to the blues and greens.
History:
When he hatched he was unimpressed with most of the boys who stood clamoring on the front lines for a boy. He was hungry, and frustrated because they would not get out of his way. He charged through their ranks accidentally mauling one. He looked at the blue eyed boy in surprise W’lam feed your Unferth now please
From that moment on Unferth could not have been more pleased with his rider. Both were dedicated to the point of obsession to training, and it was no surprise that his became a wing leader. Unferth was content, though he wished his would try harder during queen flights.
He thinks W’lam is too distracted by other females. though has always been amused by his rider's offspring, especialy the girl who always could find just where to scratch.
