“The holders all agree that new Weyrs—“ He stopped as dramatically as N’klas might, to let the plurality be absorbed. “--must be formed.” (178)
And so the new Weyrs of Pern were announced to a Weyr overflowing with dragons. Benden and High Reaches, joined by Ista and Igen, were built first but now, as the Year numbers 33, Telgar will get her turn. Telgar was meant to protect the rich mining of the northern mountains but its' protection will prove invaluable to the farms of the fertile Dunto River Valley. Building the Weyr has come just in the nick of time, for Igen is stretched thin with protecting this region from Thread.
Now the time has come for young pairs, who know little of running a Weyr or in training a fighting wing, to step forward and claim their destiny. The Weyr is almost finished, personal weyrs are still being carved and cleaned out, daily the Hatching Sands grow closer to completion but no eggs yet grace the hot sands. Although rough and unfinished, considered a lowly cave by some, the Weyr has, or will soon have, the luxuries the older Weyrs enjoy. Higher north, with a climate colder than most people find comfortable, some folk are not happy about being assigned to Telgar. But then, some are happy to come to a place with no history, where they can become a Legend.
The dragons land daily at Telgar, bronzes and browns who gained experience at other Weyrs now come to their permanent home, looking to win the all important first Flight at Telgar. No Gold dragon has risen yet, no eggs have been laid and the Weyrleadership is in cloudy doubt.
The only thing that remains is this. Do you have what it takes to become a Legend, before the Legends were ever born?
The Story of Pern begins here, with you. Become a rider, to save the planet from Thread. Become a miner, explore the caverns first and have your name in history. Become weyrfolk, begin the traditions that will last for centuries. Anything and everything is possible when you are the First.
We need: -Bronze Riders. With no Weyrleader yet that position is open. -Candidates for a GOLD egg clutch to be had once we have the leadership flight. -Support Personal of every type. We need Weyrfolk, holderfolk, and any other type of personal imaginable for starting a new Weyr. -Important Positions are open! We need a Weyrleader, Lord and Lady Holders, dragonriders of all colors and Weyr support personal. Candidates are being accepted but there is no clutch on the Sands yet.
-Excerpt from McCaffrey, Anne. The Chronicles of Pern: First Fall. New York: Ballantine Books, 1993.

Around September 26th there will be eggs hardening on Telgar's Hatching Sands. Search is looming ever closer as we wait with baited breath for Imolith to lay the Weyr's first clutch. Get those candidate bios in now if you have a char you'd like to stand.
