Sometimes, Sulia mused, it was simply better to be a woman. It was late, though not quite time for dinner, and Sulia had dressed well. Perhaps even better than well. The dress she was wearing was one of the ones that had cost a good deal, but were fine enough that she mentally absolved her self from the cost. It was beautiful. Light blue, with dark blue trim, and turquoise embroidery. Her hair was loose, and tousled, as it usually was. A faint scent of roses whispered about her, and Sulia was ready to engage in some seduction.
All for a good cause of course. That eldest stepdaughter of hers needed to look for a husband. And Sulia had an idea of who to approach for a daughter to marry to Fort Hold's heir. It was time she buckled down, and did what mothers were suppose to do. She smiled, delighted.
Nearly purring, she pushed open Merrek's door, peering into the Lord's study.
"Merrek? Are you busy? I'd like to talk to you." She said, hiding behind the door a little. While she knew her plans were solid, Sulia wasn't sure how her husband would take it once he realized she was trying to marry all of his children off. Well, some of them at least.

Merrek was looking over some notes that he had made for conversation at the Conclave. While it would not be necessary for him to have the notes with him, he wanted to make sure that he covered all of the important points. He also needed to be able to sooth whatever arguments might would come up at the Conclave, afterall, he was the Lord of the most preeminent Hold on Pern - Fort!
He was about to stop to get ready for dinner when Sulia opened the door, "I always have time for you, love. Come on in. You know, if I'm not in a meeting, you don't have to be cautious about coming in the Study. You're my wife and Lady." He stood as she came into the study and moved around to greet her. "You are always beautiful, my dear, but tonight you're particularly stunning."
As he reached her, he pulled her to himself and kissed her, "How can I help you?"

Sulia kissed her husband back, but being far more interested(currently) in her mission, rather than kisses, she took a step back, as soon as the miniature make out session was finished.
"Thank you," she responded primly. "And it's polite not to barge in on people." She winked. Also, there were sometimes people in his study that she wanted to avoid. Awkward tensions that shouldn't exist might bother Merrek a little bit.
"But, yes, you can help me." She smiled brightly, relying on her extra special outfit to bring the smile up a little bit higher. "I'd like to take Alsea and Chaila to the Conclave. I know it's a bit late to be thinking about it, but we do need to bring them out." She bit her lip, and kept her smile.
"Don't you agree?"

Merrek frowned slightly when his wife backed out of his arms, but he was proud to see her taking such an active interest in hold matters. He sighed and thought about her request. "Alsea? Yes. She is old enough that it is time that we should start looking for a husband for her. She's old enough. Chaila?"
He moved to the window, looking out. Chaila would be good company for Alsea at an event that could be rather boring for either young woman alone. But she was not old enough to be brought to Conclaves. Gathers, yes. Conclaves, no. And it would be unfair to take the two without Melora who was only a turn younger than Chaila.
He spoke, though looking out the window. "Chaila's not old enough to attend a Conclave. I can't believe my little Allie is. I'm not ready to see her married off. My little girl. But she is old enough." He took a deep breath, "An heir. Allie's the oldest. Nothing less than an heir. Is there time to get her appropriate gowns?"

"I'm already having her fitted. And I want to bring Chaila." Sulia pouted. "She could use the time outside this hold, and it will be easier for me to keep track of her if me and Alsea are watching out for her."
And if Chaila was foolish enough to have an infatuation with an unsuitable male, she'd be more likely to talk to Alsea about it, rather than her stepmother. But then again, Merrek had a nasty habit of hiding away from rational sense. Like when it came to marrying a barren, old, poor woman. Sometimes it was more endearing than others.
"And Alsea does need a companion she can talk to. And there isn't anyone in the Hold trustworthy enough for that job. And I'll do my best on the heir problem. We should have looked into getting her betrothed turns ago."
