Coming up from the herdbeast enclosure, Vanylon was told to report to the Interview Room, near the Candidate Master's Office by the Weyr's herdsman. He pointed out the direction, told him the various turns to make, and sent the boy on his way. Van followed the directions, eyes wide as he took in the sites of his new home. He watched dragons soaring in the sky, various ones perched on ledges or sunning down by the lake, shining like precious jewels.
Once inside, he wasn't quite as distracted, as he had his hands full of his bags, and he could stop craning his neck to see the next wonder that appeared. He came to the Interview Room door, knocked, and peeked inside. There wasn't anybody there yet, so he opened the door, and walked in, setting his gear down beside the door, out of the way.
He poked around a little bit, waiting, before going over and knocking on the other door, that he guessed connected with either the Candidate Master's Office, or a water closet.

It was indeed the door to the Candidate Master's office, and from within Vanylon would hear, "Come in."
V'nes was working on a lesson plan when he heard the knocking at the door. Since Perylth had been asleep, the message that a new candidate had arrived did not reach him. He put the hides aside and called out "Come in."
He was dressed in his riding leathers, as he had come to his office from a practice with Zahra. He tried to make as many of those as he could, without abandoning his primary role and responsibility as the Candidate Master. His hair did not stay helmet-hair long, as he tended to run his fingers through it while he worked, and even now it was back to his normal ruffled hair state.
Taking the appearance of the young man who stood at the door, V'nes quickly ascertained that he was a new Candidate. "Welcome. You must be a new Candidate. I'm V'nes, rider of Brown Perylth. Come in, have a seat." He gestured to the seat opposite his desk, "Your name, young man?"

Upon hearing the entry words, Vanylon opened the door, and looked inside. He smiled at the man seated at the cluttered desk, looking a little nervous, but obviously coping well with it. More awe than nerves, one could guess.
He walked in, bobbing his head in greeting, and returned the introduction. "Well met, sir. I am Vanylon. I was Searched out by blue Ynelth and B'ray several months ago, and was only recently able to come. I arrived with the tithing train from Telgar Hold just a bit ago, and was told to report here. I apologize I was unable to give advance notice of my arrival." He said with a smooth tenor voice. He moved around to the seats in front of the desk, and sat easily, as one confident in himself, if not quite sure of his surroundings.
His clothing looked well made and sturdy, a dark grey dyed wool tunic, lighter colored cotton shirt underneath, and dark brown pants, probably woolen as well, to keep warm. Scuffed but sturdy walking boots came to his knees. His hair was tousled dark blond curls that were a touch shaggy, but reached only about halfway down his neck. His sky blue eyes met V'nes with a steady gaze, even as he smiled at the man before him.

"Well, welcome Vanylon. And don't you apologize for something that is not your fault, young man. I believe that B'ray did inform me we might be having a new Candidate soon, though I have to admit that I did not expect one to arrive with the tithing train." He winked, "Its rare that those searched do not come with the dragon who searched them."
He stood and walked around the desk to properly greet the new Candidate. He would grasp the young man's forearm in the age-old greeting of two men.
"Welcome again, to Telgar Weyr. Tell me a little bit about yourself, Vanylon. Since you came with the tithing train from Telgar, I assume that you are from Telgar. What does your family do? And how old are you?" He could estimate, but it would be best to know how long the young man could stand.
V'nes chuckled warmly before he could answer, "I realize it sounds like I'm bombarding you with questions." As he spoke he moved back to his seat. "You'll get a chance to ask your questions as well."
