V'nes had been concerned with the health of his Candidates. It had been a hard decision to recommend to the Weyr Leaders that the Egg Touching be canceled for this clutch, but he did not want the illness spreading even more among his Candidates - and as far as he was concerned, they were very much his.
He had also kept an eye on his more recent "graduates" to the weyrling classes. He cared deeply for them, and wanted to make sure that they were all recovering and tending to them when it was necessary.
Perylth informed him that Search Riders were returning to the Weyr with candidates. So he was waiting in his office to interview the young man or men. He assumed, with no Gold on the Sands and Elisha's policy, that there would be no more female candidates for a while. While he disagreed, he would prefer that there would be no more girls recruited if they were not going to be allowed to stand - in his opinion, that was rather cruel.

Adreazioh stared in at the office with horror- it was fancy, with finer furnishing than he could have even imagined before he'd seen it. A sharp looking man was sitting at a peculiar table(make of wood!), with sheets of hide. The formerly Holdless man felt a chill run through him, though whether it was from the cold of between his slightly trashy brown clothes had failed to keep out, or from fear of his new surroundings- that was anyone’s guess.
His face whitened. The pretty lady Rider didn't want him to go in there, did she? He didn't want too. The man, with his dark features, looked as likely to feed him to a dragon as to give him one.
Hesitantly, the young man poked his head through the door way. He waved at the dark man, and smiled nervous.
Speaking didn't seem like a good idea. The man was probably educated as well, and wouldn't understand anything that Adreazioh said.

"Come in. Please." V'nes stood from where he was seated behind the desk. "I was told that a new Candidate would be coming. Please, come in. You have nothing to fear here." The young man's hesitancy was written on his face, and there was not enough information that the dragons had passed along for him to know all of the boy's circumstances.
So he crossed the room to the door and ushered the young man in, though he was careful to guide him by the shoulders rather than trying to grab him by the arm or anything like that. He simply wanted the young man to feel comfortable; he did not want to frighten or startle the boy.
Gently he guided him to a boy. "Please, have a seat. Welcome to Telgar." He moved back to his own seat so that he did not feel like he was crowding him. "You must have a lot of questions. So why don't we start with those, and then I'll fill in whatever else is left. Would you like something to drink? Klah perhaps? Between can be rather cold."

The man towered over Adreazioh, which was frightening enough. He looked like a scary tale the T'nn'llsn'cks had told each other on days when they had enough energy for talk. One of the Holders who ate Holdless, because he liked how they tasted. And considering people disappeared, they were easy stories to believe.
Taken by his shoulders into the room, Adreazioh was meek, eyes wide with interest. His eyes scanned the odd wooden table, wondering if the scary tall man would notice if he took a reminder of the office off with him, thinking some of the things on there didn't serve much of a purpose.
When the man stopped talking, Adreazioh realized he hadn't been paying much attention, so he took his mind back over what the man had said, and tried to figure it out. He knew what questions were, and thought it was silly they were telling him this was Telgar- when the last place he'd been was Telgar also. Adreazioh had no idea how far he'd gone.
And there was the matter off a foody substance being offered. Adreazioh nodded eagerly, though he actually wasn't too fond of the bitter and sweet substance. Maybe it would come with food. And was Between the dark cold place? He hadn't liked that at all.
He remembered that the pretty Rider Lady had wanted to know his name. It would follow that the man would want to know his- which would explain the questions the dark haired man had offered.
"M' Adreazioh."
