Matisol nodded but wasn't ready to leave the table just yet. She took her time with things lately. Enjoying them in ways she had never had time to before. This was her home and she was finding that she had taken it for granted on many occasions. "Red wine is not usually my afternoon drink of choice but I must say this one is excellent." She kept the conversation light and off topic.
Marisol noted when V'rak entered but made no move to aknowledge him until he had come to their table. "Weyrleader, thank you. Glad to see your looking well." In fact, she was probably one of few to notice, V'rak seemed very happy lately. When V'rak didn't introduce himself Marisol made up for it. "R'rako this is Weyrleader V'rak rider of Bronze Bristith." Marisol sat back and watched the two men solently.
Beynath meanwhile answered the Blue. The Weyr prospers. Adeloth laid a large clutch of over thirty eggs last time and we are hoping for another large one this time. Adeloth and Bristith are well matched. The was the Gold's point of view on that. You would like this group of Weyrlings fr the most part I think. She would say nothign abd about the Weyr, not since everything seemed to be going well.

R'rako looked up at the bronze rider with hate in his irritated pink eyes. R'rako didn't care that he had a name, he didn't care that he was the fracking Weyrleader. All the bronze riders were the same in his eyes. Until they proved him wrong, anyway.
R'rako looked at the hand offered to him, but didn't take it, the mental scars cut too deep by bronze riders in the past. Instead, he just looked into the bronze riders eyes.
"It's good to be back, V'rak."
His voice was emotionless, unless one really payed attention to his tone. If one had finely attuned ears, they could hear the slight hatred in his voice. Everyone and anyone knew R'rako despised the bronze riders. He even despised the browns, who thought they were better than blues. He knew that he shouldn't be so disrespectful, but he couldn't help it. It was his nature.
Rynith picked up on R'rako's anger and hatred. The blue took his attention off the Queen, and focused on his.
Mine, you must calm yourself. Getting into a fight our first day back would not be wise, especially with the Weyrleader.
Rynith made the equivalent of a sigh when he got no response from his. R'rako was in that mode again. Rynith couldn't blame him, though.

Elisha followed V'rak, whom she considered an excellent specimen of the male gender, and looked at R'rako with a smug, dissaproving frown. She had come hoping to welcome him home, but her smile had evaporated when she saw him snub the Weyrleader like an enemy. V'rak was the highest ranking man in all of the Weyr! He was fair, kind, and good to his riders, R'rako couldn't ask for a better Leader, yet he so visibly dishonored him. As far as she was concerned, being what he was, R'rako wasn't fit to be a rider. And Telgar might be the most easy going Weyr in operation right now. Maybe these were just the views of a queenrider who valued loyalty above all other virtues. And she was still the reigning Weyrwoman.
She didn't like him. She didn't like his mannerisms, she didn't like, nor did she approve of what she did. It was rare, unnatural, and unfair to the dragons, who were by nature social creatures. Yet she was supposed to give him a chance. She knew V'rak would go easier on the kid than she would, but the run away was under the Weyrleader's jurisdiction. She forced herself to be the actor again, and smiled politely, as if she didn't see his strange eyes regard V'rak with anything but greatfulness. Afterall, they could force him out, couldn't they? The other Weyrs, she was confident, might be harder on him. If he was going to dishonor her Weyrleader, she would discreetly snub him by not aknowledging his honorific. Her voice was sweet but her words were hollow, "Welcome, Rorako. I am Weyrwoman Elisha, my queen is now senior."

V'rak could keep nothing from the retired Weyrwoman, so he just gave her a cordial knowing smile. However, the smile was not to last... Brows lowered in a forwn over blue eyes as the other clearly rejected the politeness that he offered.
His hand dropped back to his side, brushing Elisha's hip on it's descent. He was not suprised that she was there, but he hadn't heard her approach and it startled him just enough to looked at her. Ohhh. Thank the Egg she was here~!
The Bronze sensed his Rider's little flare of anger, however, Bristith had no qualms of politeness. He drew up his size, wings flared, teeth snapping, claws lashing. Oh yes, the bronze definitely lacked the manners that V'rak did.
The lowered hand tightened into a fist, but did no such striking. He didn't open his mouth for fear that some snide remark might escape him. This was V'rak's strength. The frown smoothed out. He could deal with R'rako in time. He was a patient man, and definitely would not be made a fool of by some renegade Rider.
Definitely not.

R'rako gave a respectful nod to the Weyrwoman. He respected the golds. Rynith had to, so should R'rako. He hoped the Weyrleader noticed the lack of respect he gave him. He wanted, needed a reaction out of the bronzerider.
And that was just what he got. He saw the hand fall, he saw the fist clench. R'rako's hand instinctively was ready to block the impending strike, should the Weylreader hit him. But no strike came. Still, R'rako knew he got a reaction out of the bronze rider. A flare of anger. Just what R'rako wanted. Now he knew that the bronze riders were quick to anger if a blue did not respect them. He hoped that it would eat V'rak inside. He hoped V'rak felt the way he did, when the bronze weyrlings did not respect him or Rynith.
"It has been a long time since anyone has called me Rorako, Weyrwoman."
It had been years. It had been to long.
R'rako looked back at both of them.
"So, I've been told by Marisol that I shall be joining Pyralis Wing. Will that be acceptable?"
He was talking more to the Weyrwoman then V'rak. He wanted to ignore the bronze rider, just like they ignored him when he spoke five years ago.

Elisha had to stop herself from snorting, but forced herself to half smile and nod her head in awknowledgment, "Yes, well it's best not to forget one's name." She wondered how he could be gone from society for five turns and not be totally nuts. Who said he wasn't though? She would have bet he owed his sanity to his dragon for conversation. And now he was asking to be put back into a wing. She was unsure about that, she'd rather have him observed for a while as he got back into the swing of things. Elisha didn't quite trust him yet, and she was concerned for safety-five years out of practice wasn't necessarily a good thing. She knew that V'rak would go with her on this, so she said, with out even looking at her mate, "I think it would be best that you stay out of the wings for a while as you adjust to Weyr life. Observe Pyralis practices, by all means, but you will not practice with them for at least a sevenday.V'rak will also have to speak to the wing's Leader on your behalf." She stressed that his welcoming into the wing was by V'rak's recomendation. "Any other concerns or questions?"

R'rako snorted. So they thought he was out of practice. What did they think he was doing out in the wiled? Did they think he was on vacation or something?
"Do you think I was having a vacation out there? What do you think I was doing out there? Picking flowers? Me and Rynith have been working the whole time, practicing, honing our skills, our flying, our maneuvers, everything, to be as strong as we can to fight thread when if finally falls!"
His fists were clenched. He was getting angry. Rynith felt his anger. The blue dragon hoped that his rider would not do anything he regretted. As much as Rynith wanted to prove himself, he'd rather not have R'rako banished. Rynith liked the Weyr. Five years was enough.
R'rako was getting angrier and angrier at the Weyr's leadership.
"I'm sure if a bronze rider came back from a five year training session, you would welcome him back with wide open arms. You would allow him to jump right back into the swing of things! You don't think Rynith and I can handle the drills, the formations they can do. Well guess what, I can Master their formations, even the ones only bronze riders can do! Rynith is as strong as any brown, and almost, maybe even as strong as a bronze rider!"
He was standing up now, his irritated eyes filled with rage, his fists clenched. He had not even realized his anger had risen. He had not even realized he had stood up. They had pressed his buttons. They found what ticked him off. Questioning Rynith and his abilities. No one questions Rynith's abilities. Noone questions his abilities.
"If you need me to prove myself, I will."

"Training? Do you expect me to believe you were training?" How dare he yell at her. Her own impatience affected her queen, and the gold's temper was getting uglier by every word R'rako said. Adeloth sat straight, her mind honed in on Elisha's, waiting for her rider's orders. "You have no idea what it is like to be in a Weyr. You have not practiced with us and yet you believe that I am going to put my riders in danger? You haven't flown with a wing in at least 5 turns. How old were you when you decided you were too good for us? Just out of Weyrling lessons a turn or two? How does that qualify you to be your own teacher in manuvers and wing movements? The Wingleaders teach their adapted versions, and they practice it as a wing. In case you have forgotten, dragons live together in a Weyr for a reason, not so I can have a job bossing errant over grown weyrlings like yourself."
Elisha felt the heat rise through her neck. She had been a dragonrider for fourteen turns. She hadn't fought with the wings, but she knew enough to know that they practiced together, they relyed on each other, and none of them wimped out because he couldn't handle the Weyr heirarchy. She said rather coldly, "Obviously you couldn't handle it, if you left the Weyr. A bronze would never leave his rightful place. Actually, not a brown, not a bronze, not a greenrider has ever left his rightful place. You are the only one. Do you wish me to stereotype all blueriders now as you are stereotyping your peers? I don't think the other blueriders would appreciate you getting them in trouble for your problem. And how dare you, you who have not experienced our ways as an adult, tell me you know everything! There is always something new to learn! You should be lucky I welcome you back at all."
Elisha breathed in deeply, she would not back down from the pitiful excuse for a rider, or he was that in her mind. The blueriders she knew were fine men, and whatever happened to this man and twisted him since Impression, she did not know. Adeloth was edgy and restless. Calm down, Addie, everything will be fine. I'm sorry, his insolence and arrogance makes my blood boil. Mine, I wish for you to come to me soon. I do not like it when you are mad. I do not like they who make you mad. Adeloth grumbled, worried for the health of her rider. It is not good for you to be mad.
Elisha narrowed her eyes at him, "If you do not want to accept Telgar's hospitality, by all means, leave. Try another Weyr, I doubt they will be any more welcoming. Thread time is approaching. You will have no firestone, since that is a Weyr commodity, and you will have to steal for your food. Then the holders won't be so happy. If you had a craft to work for your supper, you would have been stuck doing that, not training as you say. I do not know what you did for the last five turns you were out, but we cannot tolerate you making our Weyr look bad. So I really don't think you should be biting the hand that feeds you." She turned from him then and started to stalk off. She said over her shoulder, "If you change your mind about anything, Rorako, you may see me in my office.Duty calls and I must see to Adeloth."
She added coyly, "Do you even know what duty is?"

Elisha's verbal battle with R'rako had nearly stunned the Weyrleader to silence. Yes, he was angry, and yes he would have pointed out the values of working as a team within a wing having been a Weyrleader for a few turns now.
A wing was like a structured unit. Everyone had their place, and when someone just randomly butted in forcibly is disrupted the entire unit. V'rak shook his head slightly. R'rako might have been out in the wild training, but he lacked an eleagnce of words, and lacked completely the idea of authority.
Bronzerider or no, V'rak didn't like it. Number one, he'd dared to yell at Elisha. Number two, he was obviously unwilling to cooperate with simple requests. Even weyrlings observed the wings before joining. It was rediculous to just assume one could fall so easily into a flying unit of fighting dragons.
The bluerider was lucky that they didn't offer to stick him back with the Weyrlings until they deemed him ready. Blue eyes would only stare at the other man for a long minute thinking. Elisha was already walking away. Never had he felt the need to punish someone without justifyable reason, nor had he ever sen Elisha so upset.
The brilliant eyes flicked to Marisol. "Please excuse us," he said with a ghost of a smile for the older woman, there might have been a bit of a plea in that look as well. Maybe a Please reason with him plea, silent as ever.
V'rak gave R'rako one last glance before he spun on a heel after Elisha. Poor woman tried so hard.
Bristith?
The bronze was still bullying the smaller dragons below from his rider's anger, Bristith, stop it, his rider scolded, causing the large bronze to halt it's assault on a brown. Where is she?
She?
Adeloth.
Oh. She is not very happy at the moment, Mine, The bronze informed him. V'rak snorted aloud.
I know that~ Just where is she?

R'rako collapsed in his seat, the adrenaline leaving his body drained. He was expecting a fight, a chance to prove himself, and instead, he had both the Weyrleader and Weyrwoman mad at him. This was not a good sign. His first day back and he was already public enemy number one.
"Well, that didn't go too well, did it?"
He said that more to himself then anyone around him.
"Do you even know what duty is?"
Why do you think I came back? To take on my duty...
I know that, but they obviously don't.
The sudden voice of his dragon brought him back to reality. R'rako had really screwed up this time. He didn't mean any disrespect to the Weyrwoman. But like all the other goldriders, they went to defend the bronzers like they were kings. R'rako sort of hated the goldriders for that. They didn't have to defend those sick bronze riders, but they did, and that made him mad.
"What should I do now?"
Rynith didn't have an answer. Only his rider could choose.
I guess I'll comply with the Weyrwoman. I'll adjust to Weyr life, and observe Pyralis wing for now, until I've earned her respect.
Rynith was glad R'rako had found his own answer. The blue knew that the Weyrwoman was most likley mad, but he figured she'd get over it sooner or later, and soon she could see his strength and R'rako's strength. Once she sees how strong they have become...maybe, just maybe she'll let them fly with a Wing.
