R'rako felt the cool wind on his face. Flying had always been one of his favorite things to do. Even though his legs were cramped up from flying for a couple hours, he still enjoyed it. And so did Rynith. The blue enjoyed spending every minute possible with his rider. Rynith was the best companion for R'rako. Their personalities matched almost perfectly. They both believed that color and rank did not define their strength. They both wanted to prove that they could surpass even the bronze riders in strength. They had been training in the wild, away from the Weyr, for five years, to prove that point. They had become much stronger. Maybe not stronger than a bronze just yet, but they were on their way. They would prove they could be stronger, they were determined.
Finally, R'rako saw the Weyr in sight. It was just as he remembered it, though with minor differences. R'rako had told Rynith not to go between for fear that the Telgar had changed, and that it was not the same as he pictured it. Turns out they could have saved flying time. But it was worth it. R'rako never complained when he flew with Rynith.
It's just as I remember it.....
Yes, it is quite an amazing site, mine. It feels good to be home.
R'rako chuckled. He knew Rynith didn't like the forest as much as he liked the openness of the Weyr. But the blue never complained. Rynith wanted to prove something to Pern, and he would do it with any means necessary.
Land outside the main entrance. We don't want to be thought of as intruders. Also, announce our presence to the patrol dragon.
The blue started his slow decent, roaring out.
R'rako, rider of blue Rynith, has returned! Mine and me wish to speak to the Weyrleader. We have returned after five years!
Rynith finally landed, and R'rako slid off the average sized blue. R'rako wore his black tunic, the one he usually wore for training and flying. The outfit was quite comfortable, and was more maneuverable than people would think. R'rako's black hair looked like a mess again, though it looked neat even when it was a mess. R'rako didn't bother to fix it. It was fine the way it was anyway.
R'rako rubbed his eyes again. It was extremly bright out today, and his eyes were a little sensitive to it. They were already starting to turn pink from the irritation. He had to break that habit. His eyes looked red at night, and sometiems he got strange looks.
Though he didn't care. He and Rynith were back home.
Don't expect a warm greeting. I doubt anyone would remember me anyway.
Rynith did what a dragon did to chuckle.
They'll remember us. It may not be a good memory, but someone may remember us.
It was R'rako's turn to chuckle. He turned back toward the entrance, waiting for someone to come greet him. Or stab him. Either option sounded quite possible at that moment. He had, after all, just disappeared without any warning. It wouldn't surprise him if he was yelled at by the first person that came to greet him. So he braced himself, keeping his hand near his dagger. This would be a long day.

((hehehe... time for some elderly people to give you a welcome and then hit you over the head... lmao))
Marisol, retired Weyrwoman of Telgar, remembered well the dragon who had left them. She knew they were alive, obviously, Beynath would know if they had not been. She had assumed they had joined a different Weyr, not that there weren't ways to transfer without disappearing.
Beynath had just landed with her own rider in tow, when the blue landed. Mari's riding leathers were not going to keep her warm for long so she decided to talk to the young man, no doubt he thought she was still the Weyrwoman. "Wingrider R'rako, Rynith." She nodded, eyebrow arched. She extended her slender and almost frail hand in greeting.
He looked well enough if not a bit raggedy by Weyr standards. Though where she lived as a child he would be deemed well dressed. She noted that Rynith looked fairly well though he could use a good oiling in her opinion. Not that that mattered as much as havintg another pair of riders at the Weyr. She worried that he might cause trouble but brushed thoughts of that kind aside.
"Beynath and I had been wondering when you'd be back. Come we best get you into a vacant weyr so Rynith can rest. Might I suggest you take up one in Pyralis Wing for now." She hesitated before adding. "Then you will join me for some lunch before I hand you over to the powers that be." Marisol's leathers suggested her new rank as a retired rider. They'd been retired for over a turn and a half now.

R'rako had never realized just how long he had been gone, and how things might have changed. The Marisol was now retired. He would have thought she would be the one in charge. He had always respected the Weyrwoman, because they were truly in charge. He always listened to her commands, just as Rynith had to listen to the Queen's commands. It was the Weyleader and bronze riders he did not like to listen to.
"So much has changed since I have been gone. I hadn't realized the possibility that you might have retired. I'm glad to see that you are still healthy."
He didn't smile. He didn't feel like smiling. Now he was facing an unknown punishment. He didn't know who the Weyrleader and Weyrwoman were. He wouldn't know what type of punishment he would recieve for disappearing from the Weyr. He mentally sighed. This was going to be a long day.
Rynith, go wash up in the lake. I doubt that moved on us.
R'rako watched as Rynith flapped his might wings. The blue had grown strong since they had last been here. He was faster, stronger, and more agile. They were starting to prove their point. Perhaps, in a few years, they could contest with some bronze riders.
R'rako turned back to Marisol.
"So who do I go see when I get sent to the Weyrwoman from now on?"
He had been sent many times to Marisol when he had acted up. He figured he would still get sent to the Weyrwoman when he argued. It probably wasn't the best thing for a rider to get into trouble, but he wasn't a normal rider. He was a rider that wanted to prove a point. And he would prove it, no matter how much trouble he woudl get in.

Marisol knew that though R'rako was all too likely facing some punishment, it would be better if they didn't do too much to him. She for one would rather have he and Rynith at the Weyr where they would be safe. She only hoped he had not come back to start trouble between those of lower rank and those of higher rank. That would only seperate and divide the Weyr and in the end make fighting thread nearly impossible to do without issues coming up.
She shook her head, "Now thats not a good way to think about things. No one will be sending you to the Weyrwoman like an errant Weyrling. No, you would be sent to the Weyrleader, who at this moment is V'rak of Bronze Bristith. The Weyrwoman is Elisha of Gold Adeloth, of course. Oh and the junior Weyrwoman is Neory of Gold Sheluth, though they are but WEyrlings right now."
Marisol waited for Beynath to take off which the Gold did a bit less fluidly than she had when she was younger. It didn't make her any less amazing. Shall I keep an eye on Rynith for you? Yes my Golden love. That would be for the best. Just until they get settled in.
"Also I think you should meet with R'lec, Wingsecond of Pyralis. I'll let him know you are officially part of their wing as of today." Marisol knew she had little authority over it but seeing as Pyralis had dropped in numbers due to retirement, recently, it seemed the best fit. Knowing that R'rako and Rynith were the type of riding pair that would do best in one of the top three wings in the Weyr, she had decided it would be a good place for them. She also recalled them getting into a lot of fights. Pyrlais riders were known to have flaring tempers.
"Alright. Now how about we get that food. I haven't been this hungry in days. It may have something to do with this cold weather. I'd also love to hear about what you've been doing since you left us." She would record it in a record so that should anyone ever leave the Weyr again there would be a record of it being done before and how it had been done. Even as a retired Weyrwoman she liked to help Elisha with records.

Food...
The young rider had not had a real meal since he had run away from Telgar. He had been hunting and eating poorly cooked meat. He only ate enough to keep himself fit and healthy. It would be nice to eat a real meal, and as he remembered, Telgar's cooks were quite good at their job. He reminded himself that he might not be the only one hungry.
I will eat after you, for this bath feels quite nice.
R'rako smiled. He was glad Rynith didn't mind coming back to Telgar. One of the reasons he came back was for Rynith, so that the blue could bathe in the lake, and eat food that was prepared for him.
R'rako walked into the Weyr hoping that he remembered where the Weyrhall was. He looked to see if Marisol was still walking with him.
"Rynith and I were training in the wilderness for the past five turns. We needed to train without distractions, or anyone ordering us when we could and couldn't train. We both agreed we wouldn't come back until we were stronger. We both thought it was time to come back, and prove just how stong we have gotten."
R'rako didn't want to cause trouble, or didn't mean to cause trouble purposely. His temper always seemed to get the better of him, though, and he ended up causing trouble anyway.

Marisol did not walk as brisquely as she once had. She realized very quickly that the younger man had not taken that into account when he walked toward the Weyrhall. She didn't speed up. Afterall, he should be the one to slow up and wait for her. She could still hear him though he was a good several paces ahead of her now.
WHy had they felt that Weyrling training was not enough. Leaving to grow stronger. Made her think that they believed only in themselves and not the Weyr. The Weyr was a large family that needed to rely on one another to do their jobs. Otherwise when Thread did fall, there would be panic and confusion. Jobs would get done wrong and the worst of it would be that dragons, their best companions, would have the worst injuries and the most casualties.
When she finally caught up to him as he slowed a bit, trying to remember which way it was the the Weyrhall, she answered, "Beynath and I are delighted that you and Rynith have returned. Unfortunately I cannot do anything else for you other then feed you and find you a temporary weyr to stay in. If you need new leathers you may want to go vistit the Weavers. They'll get you a new one in no time. Oh and I almost forgot. Tell Rynith that the wherry is especially good out there right now but he should wait a little while because a couple of greens riled up the whol Feeding Grounds..."
No doubt they would be in trouble for that. It was all too likely that the greens were a bit proddy. With two of them so close to eachother, it wouldn't suprise her if they started a my horse is bigger than your horse contest.

It wasn't until R'rako turned behind him that he noticed that Marisol was slower than she once had been. He sighed. He had been gone for quite some time now. He didn't realize what could happen in five turns. Obviously a lot more than he had thought.
"A temporary place to sleep is all I ask for. The leathers I use are still fine, also."
Most of the weyrlings had grown up as candidates together. R'rako had never done that as a kid. He had been denied the right to become a candidate, because of his.....listening issues. He had been rejected by other kids his age, because he always got into fights and arguments. He had not grown up well. He impressed by accident! He hated weyrling training. The bronze riders always showed him up. They always looked at him like he was a freak. He hated it. Maybe that is why he left. To escape all of them, to escape those cold stares. He pushed those thoughts out of his head. He left to train, and that was the only reason he left.
"I do believe the Weyrhall is this way...."
He was more talking to himself than he was to Marisol. He walked slower, so the older Queen rider could keep up. After a minute or two of walking, he finally found the great eating place of all that lived in Telgar. He turned to look at Marisol.
"So, when do I get to meet the Weyrleader?"
He was nervous, as was Rynith. The blue was more nervous because of his rider. Rynith knew they were both in trouble. He knew that R'rako would get the most blame, not him. That was what troubled the blue

Marisol said nothing to that. If he had only come for a few days, he should say it sooner than later. The Goldrider had never come across someone leaving the Weyr with their dragon before. What made the Weyr so easy for him and his dragon to leave. Running from your problems was not the way to fix them. Eventhough he claimed he lef to train, Marisol did not believe that was the reason for hid departure and self exile.
At least he had remembered where the Weyrhall was. " You can sit at my table with me since you technically have no wing or rank as of yet." She walked towards the table reserved for the Goldriders, Weyrleader and their guests. " You will meet him soon enough. V'rak and Bronze Bristith are very level headed and I'm sure that V'rak will not punish you for leaving but rather wish to know more about the sentiments of the rest of Pern toward the dragonriders."
She knew that it would bother Elisha and herself more that this young trider and his dragon had left the Weyr and gone into the wilds. Of course no one wished to punish him for returning, though she didn't want anyone following in his footsteps.

R'rako nodded at Marisol. He quickly got something to eat, and sat at the table. He had been thinking about Telgar, how it changed. Was it going to be better now? Was he going to be treated with more respect? Or was it going to be the same, where the bronze riders ruled all, and wouldn't let blue's have a say in anything because they were weaker. If it was, well, R'rako was going to try and change that. He was done running away from the Weyr. He was done running from his problems. He wasn't going to change, just so some bronze rider could walk all over him. No, R'rako's and Rynith's days of being walked all over were done. He would not let the bronze riders get all the glory. It was time for R'rako to prove himself, that blue riders and blues could compete with the bronzes.
R'rako dug into his food. It tasted delicious. Compared to the food out in the woods, it was extremly good. He started eating as fast as he could, shoving large bites in his mouth. He didn't mean to look weird, but it had just been such a long time since he had any real food at all!
After he finished, he quickly wiped his mouth, and cleaned the mess he had made from chewing to fast. He rubbed his irritated eyes. It was still to bright. He hoped it would be nightfall soon, that way he could see the Weyr better.
"I havn't had food like that in a long time."
Rynith was still having fun in the water. R'rako could feel it. He was happy that the blue was enjoying himself. It made him happy. It made him feel like he had made the right choice. The only thing he was nervous about was the meeting with V'rak. His punishment. That was going to be the toughest part.

Mine. Bristith prodded his rider's mind gently.
Blue eyes lifted from a stack of paperwork piled on the desk in front of the Weyrleader. Yes? he asked, encouraging his Bronze that he was paying attention.
You might want to find Adeloth's. Rynith has returned. The dragon informed V'rak his tone less than pleased it seemed.
The blue eyes widened. Where's Adeloth? he asked. The best way to find a rider was through their dragon. He'd been in his office for hours, preparing for a Wingleader meeting. Now he stood, more pressing matters to be addressed. He shrugged on his leather flying coat.
Beynath? Bristith inquired of the Older Gold, Yours knows where Rynith's is? The Bronze hadn't left his lazy perch on his ledge, watching the blue below with swirling colorful eyes.
Meanwhile, V'rak was already waiting for directions. It was an automatic thing with Bristith. If V'rak needed to find someone, the dragon asked. So The Weyrleader was patient, his long stride not hurried.
So R'rako was back. Curious. The Weyrleader remembered him. V'rak had been nothing been a senior Wingsecond when R'rako was a weyrling. And now he came back? Why?

Gliath watched the blue dragon with midl curiousity. The big bronze was attempting to relax on the shore around the lake.
J'ren, a strange blue dragon is in the lake. The others say his name is Rynith, and that his rider is R'rako
J'ren stopped what he was doing and listened to the dragon's words. I remember that he left one day and never returned. It was before I was a dragonrider, so I have no idea why he left. Though since there isn't a rush to greet him, I can ssume it wasn't under good circumstances
J'ren thought to work his way up to the hall for luch, perhaps someone would fill him in on this situation

Adeloth grumbled from on her ledge about some blue being back. Elisha was futzing around her weyr organizing stray clothes and making her bed. She stopped and went out to the ledge where her gold was glowing with her nearing flight. She admired the glorified tone of the queen and then curious about the words, asked again, "What is it that you said?"
Blue Rynith has returned to the Weyr. Adeloth said boredly, Now leave me, I am being admired. Sure enough, she saw a few bronzes near by, with their eyes whirling up at Adeloth. But Elisha turned, her thumb tapping her chin in thought. It wasn't every day that a young rider left the Weyr. Elisha remembered, and she felt a bit angry, though a little a voice inside of her said to welcome him back like a father would welcome home his lost son. She was the Mother of the Weyr, so she should do that for her 'children.' Bristith's is with him in the Weyrhall. Elisha went immediately and took her place at V'rak's side.
"Where is he?"

The Retired Weyrwoman ate much more lightly than the blue rider. She was not at all concerned about the way he was eating, from his appearance she had suspected he had not had a good meal like this in a long time. In fact it pleased her to know that he thought the food was better, it might help to keep him from turning his back on the Weyr again.
She sipped a glass of red wine, not saying much during the meal, simply enjoying the food and her wine. The questions she wanted to ask were put on hold. It would be better for him and her to not think about anything to serious right now. That wouod be Elisha and V'rak's job.
He is safe, eating with my rider in the Weyrhall. The Gold replied without the slightest inflection of tone, she was bored with this blue rider already. When a dragon left the Weyr it was never the dragon who wanted to leave...thus the Gold disliked the rider more than the dragon. Adeloth, darling, I'm keeping an eye on Rynith while mine is entertaining him in the Weyrhall. She says he ate a lot of food and is probably tired...
When the bluerider had finsihed, Marisol looked up from he wine glass. "I'm glad you found it to your liking. Would you care for some dessert? I heard the bubbly pies are exceptional today." Of course she heard that from her great grandson who thought bubblies were great everyday. One could always trust a Weyrbrat to say exactly what they were thinking.

R'rako smiled at Marisol kindly.
"No thank you. This food is more than enough. I think I may have over eaten."
He leaned back in his chair, his stomach no full. He hadn't felt this good in years. He had forgotten what life was like in the Weyr. Always getting enough to eat. He had failed to remember the good things. All he remembered were the bad. How the bronzers always thought they were all that. How they always ordered the blues and greens around. R'rako knew those were the bad parts, and what his life had been like in Telgar.
Well that shall change.
R'rako then wondered how Rynith was adjusting to the Weyr.
*****
The blue dragon splashed in the cool, refreshing water happily. Rynith, like his rider, had never been so relieved to be back at Telgar. The bath's, the open air, the comfortable ledges, the good meals. Oh how the blue missed his home! Though Rynith knew that Telgar had been bad for his rider. To watch the powerful bronze riders step all over him crushed Rynith's heart. Unlike what other dragons thought, R'rako did not force Rynith to leave the Weyr with him. Rynith had wanted to go! Rynith had wanted to prove that being a blue doesn't mean you have limits. Rynith was almost as determined as his rider.
It was then the blue craned his neck, looking at the gold Queen staring at him.
Beynath, how has the Weyr been during my absence with mine?

The large bronze relayed the information from Beynath to V'rak his mind voice just a bit grumbly as he observed the other bronzes admiring his Queen. With a slight growl that reverberated through V'rak's skull, Bristith dropped off his ledge to no doubt cause some hassel between the younger and smaller bronzes.
Meanwhile, V'rak could only shake his head to dislodge the bronze's growl, his pace never faltering. The first face he recognized upong entering the Hall was Marisol's. A face he knew well. Though, it was only through the information provided by his dragon that he managed to recognize the rider beside her. There was a ghost of the boy R'rako that V'rak remembered. Time in the wilderness took it's toll on the young, and did nothing to help people age nicely.
He took a moment to return the greetings that were sent his way as he picked his way through the Hall towards the pair. V'rak was easy to pick out, a bright blue shirt complimented his eyes, his height impressive among the seated riders.
He paused once he'd reached the table to pay his respects (and compliments, of course!) to Marisol, before the brilliant blue eyes looked to R'rako. It was rare that a Weyr had to deal with a "run away" so to speak. So for an entire mement, the Weyrleader was speechless, simply looking the other over.
He wasn't overly impressed, but then it was not in his nature to be harsh in his dealings. He pulled a glove off one hand and offered it to the other rider, "Welcome home, R'rako," he said, a slight smile pulling the lips.
He could get angry and cast the other out of the weyr, but that seemed unfair.... there was little choices of punishment, but none that V'rak could think of seemed to fit for Rynith's...
