Marisol was feeling better. So much so that she had decided to venture out of her Weyr, great grandson in tow. After making sure the both of them had everything they could want to eat she smiled down at him. He was feeling a lot better too.
No doubt with all the buzz of a New Weyrleader there had been few who had time to notice the illness, or the losses the Weyr had indeed sufferred. Mostly very young children. From what the infirmiry had told her. The total loss thus far of children under three was nearing fifty. That was enough to make her stomach churn.
She smiled back at Reiko. "You better eat up before you and I go to the Lake. Beynath needs a bath and you are going to help." Beynath was indeed feeling a bit neglected. The bath that she very much needed was not the only thing on her mind. The dragon was hungry too.

Elisha was grabbing some breakfast when she spotted Marisol and her great grandson. The woman smiled warmly, she admired Marisol, and was happy that the woman would now have her Q'tre to join her in retirment. She felt bad about making the man stay Weyrleader because of her brash transfer of D'rian. The goldrider felt good after the flight. She loved hatchings, even though she did not stand. They were exciting and Elisha wondered what Adeloth would clutch. Elisha did not gamble, but she did some times guess with her friends when she was younger.
"How have you been doing, Marisol? I heard you've been keeping busy with young ones. That was nice of you, I'm sure some mother was thankful. I've had my own boy with me. Fortunately Elirian didn't get very sick." Elisha didn't know what she'd do with out her boy. He was her only family at the Weyr. In fact, he was the only family that she was close to. She hadn't really contacted her uncle the scribe in a long time. And with no living known parents and no sibling that were capable of correspondance, she was with out blood relative contact. That was why she clung to her son. She was thirty one, she was unlikely to have another child.
She smiled at Reiko, "So what are you and your grandmother gonna do this afternoon?"

Reiko was quietly eating his food when Elisha came up to the High Table to join them. "Glad to see you are well too. Children aren't so hard to care for, besides don't want to lose a generation of potential dragonriders." She looked down at Reiko who still seemed intent upon his food.
"Glad to hear Elirian is well." she knew of Elisha's holdlike attachment to her child. The Weyr wasn't an easy place to be a mother. "I hear your flight went well." She smiled a knowing smile at the other Goldrider.
"V'rak is a good choice. He's been a good Wingleader. Q'tre said he took his job very seriously. I just hope he isn't too serious. Need to have some fun every now and again..." Marisol wondered how Elisha felt about him. Hopefully she was getting along well. Even if she didn't love him like she had D'rian. Marisol had had to make those sorts of matchs herself many times. Even if she knew Q'tre had wanted her since he arrived at Telgar. It was a fun game she had played with him.

Yes, Elisha was very glad her son was well. She liked to talk to his foster mother from time to time and even boss her a little on what she thought Elirian should be doing. It would be very interesting when Elirian grew up, Elisha would be very critical on which women he kept for mates. This thought amused her and she smiled, and then went on to the topic at hand: flight. "Yes, it was well," Elisha grinned. It had been a long time since she had a new man in her bed. She couldn't remember it well, but she supposed she might share V'rak's bed from time to time. Maybe when they knew each other a little more.
Elisha nodded, yes, V'rak was a very sensible choice. The Weyrwoman considered herself a sensible woman, and all she really wanted was a clever, capable man for the job. "Oh, he is very serious indeed, but I think that he's good at leading. I'm a bit more serious myself." She grinned, though really if she were more serious, she might not vouch for a frivolity such as the Games. "Maybe he'll warm up to me yet. V'rak is a very nice man, I think."

[speak of the devil and he shall appear!]
V'rak had been taking his time this morning, however, like Bristith, hunger always came first. With his stomach rumbling for a well-earned breakfast, the new Weyrleader anxiously got a plate of warm food, almost making for the Triveni table. However, he rerouted himself, his shirt a bright splash of blue among the brown tables. It was early yet.
He made his way to the High table, and just happened to overhear Elisha's last comment. So they'd been talking about him. He set his plate down loud enough to announce his arrival as he'd come up behind them. "You think?" he repeated her last words in a somewhat quizzical tone.
However, he smiled, taking a seat. "Good morning ladies." he said, "And Reiko." He added quickly for the youngster. He didn't say anything more, as he began working his teeth through the crust of a piece of fresh buttered bread. He chewed silently, keeping his mind void of any deep thoughts. Whenever he tried to think he kept getting little flashbacks of memory from the Flight. Not that it had been bad, but the interruptions in his thinking was frustrating to say the least.

Marisol liostened to Elisha's thoughts on the flight and smiled. The girl had matured a lot in the last few turns. Especially since D'rian had left. Mari understood what the woman had to go through before she couls accept any sort of real love from another man. This of course made Weyrleadership a bit rough.
Then of course, V'rak joined them. Marisol aknowledged his joining them. "Weyrleader, good morning to you as well." She was rarely phased by anything, least of all men, since she had spent her life among them. "I think the two of you need some time before casting any judgements on eachother. Hmm?" She breezed over the situation quickly, knowing full well that his comment had probably embarrased Elisha. He didn't know what she was going through. Trust would come. D'rian was nice too, but that meant nothing now. Hopefully once the two shared some more intimate details then they would understand eachother.
"You know, Reiko and I are going to the Lake today. Would Jannike and Elirian like to join us. We may even coax Q'tre out of bed to enjoy the weather." She grinned. The man had not been able to sleep in once since Tlanth flew Beynath.
Reiko perked up, more people. But they couldn't have his Mari. Reiko was too young to understand that to the Weyr, Marisol was everyones.
