Elisha took another gulp from her cup. Her eyebrows raised. It went down smoother this time, but still she got the feeling the effects could come sooner though. She'd better slow down. She put her cup down and then nodded to V'rak. She walked ahead of him to Adeloth, who now had risen her great wedge head to get a good look at Bristith's rider.
And oh yes, Adeloth knew herself to be very beautiful. And she noticed and remembered more if you didn't compliment her and shower her with attentions than if you did. She took it as her right as a queen to be treated so. Adeloth's eyes whirled with pleasure. He seems good.
Elisha didn't blush much, but she did when he said that Adeloth was as beautiful as her rider. The Weyrwoman smiled softly, and then laughed lightly, "You're too kind, V'rak." No, he is perfect. You are beautiful. I am beautiful. We are beautiful. And we should be told that all of the time. Adeloth added matter of factly. Though of course only Elisha could hear. Since Bristith is sleeping, tell His that I would like him to visit me. If His is that nice, Bristith should compliment me as well.
Elisha chuckled, "She says that Bristith should visit her and compliment her." She went back for her drink. She took another drink and blinked. She smiled at V'rak, "Are you. . . Is your drink still full?"

V'rak smiled. Though a little rough around the edges, the Wingleader was not know to be a complete idiot when it came to women...and their dragons. He turned back to Adeloth, raising his cup to her in a salute.
"I will tell Bristith to do so." he said with a smile. And he would... if he remembered. The Gold's ego was not the top of his list at the moment. Not yet anyways. He wasn't entirely sure if Bristith would give the Queen the compliments she sought.... but oh well!
As if on cue, the wingleader downed the last gulp of wine. "Not anymore it isn't." he chuckled merrily. He watched the Queen again for a moment, his empty glass held loosely in his hands. He'd noticed the Weyrwoman's blush; though he was confident she received such compliments on a regular basis, he smiled at her anyways.

"She's glad to hear that." Elisha didn't need a reply to know that Adeloth would be pleased with any attentions. Bronze attentions most of all. Adeloth was a bit vain, to say the least and liked to be reassured, though she didn't need it.
Elisha downed the rest of her cup less than lady like. She was surprized at herself, but she didn't want to be left behind. She blinked, a little hazy, was it? Oh well, she was pretty thirsty yet. "Good, I'll get us another. . . um, glass."
Elisha started to walk to where the wineskin was and was doing pretty well. Then she tripped on the hem of dress and stumbled into V'rak. "Ooh. Erm. Excuse me."

V'rak's smile didn't exactly fade, but it dimmed when the Weyrwoman tripped into him. Instinctively he caught her, strong arms steadying her. Suddenly, he wasn't so sure she needed anymore. However, at the proximity, the faintest of blushes tinted his face.
Though he was confident around women, that didn't mean he was exactly shameless. Especially around one that had much to do with the wellness of the Weyr.
He righted Elisha slowly and carefully. He released her just as slowly, almost reluctantly before he took her cup, his larger fingers brushing hers, the skin soft from oiling Bristith's harness.
"Let me get it." he offered. "Sit." His voice was soft, but it still had that commanding air. It wasn't purposeful. It just came naturally. He was used to giving orders, it just came out sometimes unintentionally. He refilled both glasses from the skin, his feet still secure beneath him. He could probably double Elisha's intake before he began stumbling around. He handed her the refilled glass carefully.

"Oh!" He had grabbed on to her arms and he was so strong. . . She half mumbled something, but it was unintelligble. She liked being held, and hadn't been held in a long, long time. The last time was with someone who she had loved, and she just was getting to know V'rak- and- she realized her position and tensed immediately, "My. . . My many apologies, my dress hem was caught under my slippered feet. And, well. . ."
He set her down, and she flushed much more than he. That was embarassing, and he seemed a little shamed that it happened too. She closed her eyes and rubbed the nose bridge between the eyes. "Oh, I'm terribly sorry, V'rak. I don't need anything more. I'm. . . wow. I like to wear long dresses but maybe I should have mine shortened."
He was a gentleman, but still she saw him flush. She embarassed them both, and there was no one in the room to see or anything. He probably thought her drunk, and she really just stumbled, really. Well this night couldn't get any worse.

V'rak set her filled glass on a small table, as he leaned his rump against the edge, looking down at Elisha over the rim of the glass. He'd regained his composure, the blush fading. He couldn't help but smile at her fumbling apologies. Some how, they were endearing.
He took a sip of his fresh glass before he set it down beside hers behind him. His arms crossed lazily across his chest. He did think her a little drunk, at very least tipsy from the drink. And for that reason, he cleared his throat, he tried to never take advantage of the mind-muddled. "
"Perhaps I've overstayed my usefulness," he said, still smiling. He didn't think it rude that she didn't want to drink anymore, but he thought himself rude if he were to finish his drink without her.
Not that he had other things to rush off to at that exact moment. So he lingered for a moment before he shoved off the table. "Unless the Weyrwoman needs anything else, I should be going." he said with a slight dip of his head towards Elisha before he started for the door.

"Perhaps I've overstayed my usefulness,"
Elisha frowned, so he didn't want to stay with her. That was fine, she had just made a fool of herself. Elisha didn't say anything, she just looked down at her hands. She was still tinged pink, embarassed about the whole situtation and that he had to sit her down like a child. The Weyrwoman closed her eyes for a moment. He was nice, but was it nice she was looking for right now?
She didn't see him linger, just looked up in time to see him dip his head. She bit her lip, she had no reason to hold him there, and frankly she didn't want a scandal her first few weeks as Weyrwoman. Plus he didn't seem to interested. Elisha stood and walked to the door, "I appreciate you walking me back to my weyr. I'd appreciate if word of this episode didn't get out."

V'rak's easy smile returned. "Of course." he mused stopping at the door, pausing to bow at the waist to the Queen. "All the best, Adeloth."
Then he turned back to Elisha the same easy smile on his lips. He took her hand in one of his raising it to his lips to brush them over her knuckles. A goofy gesture. Oh well. He dropped her hand slowly. "Thank you for the wine. I have a meeting with R'net to review some of the Weyrlings. Perhaps I'll stop by after to see if you have found more firm feet." It was a tease, his smile widening in the slightest.
"Until then, good day, Weyrwoman."

Elisha smiled weakly, and then put on her business face. "Thanks," She said evenly. He had picked up her hand and kissed it, it was a sweet gesture, confirming that he only had their honor in mind. V'rak wasn't impulsive. He wasn't a bad man, on the contrary, he was very good, and in some ways reminded her of D'rian. D'rian wasn't a bad man, either, he just let power go to his head. He didn't realize that he wasn't immortal to Elisha's judgment. D'rian didn't grasp that if he wanted to keep his job, he'd have to please his Weyrwoman. D'rian wasn't untouchable like he had thought. A fatal mistake to his career as Weyrleader of Telgar. She'd have to watch V'rak. She wasn't likely to fall as fast as the first time, for now she was a seasoned woman, but he had the potential to pull at her heart strings, given time.
"Good day then, Wingleader."

V'rak's smile twitched in its place, dipping his head once again. He opened the door giving Elisha one last smile before he stepped out. He didn't risk to look back. If he looked back, he might go back.
He forced out a breath of air from his lungs. Focus, focus, focus. he chanted to himself. He pushed the thought of Elisha and her Queen from his mind and turned it over to review the Weyrlings he'd been watching. Hopefully R'net had some good insights on the Weyrlings....
