Riella scowled as she stretched out on her cot. She was not in a good mood today. People around her just seemed to rub her the wrong way. It seemed that they weren't capable of understanding even basic logic and it was unheard of for them to listen to a mere candidate. Forget the fact that they kept sending two or three people out to change glows because all of the cooks neglected to inform each other that they were sending the younger ones out. Riella tried to tell one of them that half the weyrbrats who were supposed to be working were just standing about, changing glows in groups so they could socialize and do as little as possible.
Her cot wasn't very comfortable, she wished that she could change that. Her furs were worse, but she couldn't request new, better ones. She'd have to put up with them until she either Impressed or moved back down to the Weyrcaverns. Downgrade or upgrade, her two choices. Riella was determined, but then again, Riella was always determined about something or another.
Her mind wasn't on Impression today. Her mind was wandering over the pending idea of her interview. If she was deemed unacceptable, she'd be downgraded before she even got a chance. She'd been chosen by the dragons as a candidate, she thought that an interview was ridiculous and unneccessary. Riella didn't feel the need to prove herself to the humans in the weyr, it wasn't the humans that chose. But it was a necessary step and she would hate more if she blew off the interview and then was dismissed. Simply because she thought it was silly wouldn't make it go away, she would have to subject herself to the indignity. Story done and told, she was still apprehensive about it all and she wished she could just get it over and done with.

Elra walked into the gold candidates quarters with her hands above her head in a stretch, letting out a yawn as she did so. Once again she had been working in the kitchens and her dark, tight fitting pants had flour handprints dusted about her upper thighs. Moving to her bunk, she opened it and pulled out a shirt far to large for her before realizing someone else was in the quarters.
Turning to get a full look at the young woman on another cot, Elra finally gave a smile. “Hello.” She said, once again hoping to make a fast friend rather than a faster enemy. So far she had fit well into the Weyr and hoped to keep it that way. “I didn’t see you in here.”
Glancing around the room to double check nobody else had wandered in, she looked back at the curly haired woman. “Did you move in today?” After asking the question, however, it dawned on Elra she rarely slept in the candidate barracks lately due to making several… ah… acquaintances among the lower ranked riders. It was quite possible that the girl had come in any time over the last sevenday.

Riella scowled even more deeply when another woman wandered in. She was perfectly happy with the fact that the girl didn't deem to speak with her. She was much more comfortable without the petty small talk about the weyr and how wonderful it was an how each of them wished the other luck for Impression. The truth was, she wanted the gold, she wanted to Impress and she did not want the other girl to take the dragon that she wanted. And she wasn't going to say otherwise just to amke the other person think that she was her friend when in all actuality, she wasn't.
But the girl just had to notice her. Great. And she was working so hard on that whole invisible idea. "Hello," she replied curtly, ignoring the woman's admittance. She didn't care if she didn't notice her at first. In fact, she liked it better that way. She surpressed the urge to roll her eyes when the woman continued to ask her if she moved in today. Riella had been living in this room for almost a sevenday and the girl hadn't even slept in here once. That spoke for her, well, activities at night. It disgusted Riella, but she bit her tongue to prevent any obvious slurs on the woman's character from escaping.
"I've been here for six days. Did you just move in?" she asked, even though she knew the girl's things had been there since she'd arrived. Riella thought it would be entertaining to watch the woman attempt to explain her activities. There was only one reason that she would be absent for six nights straight and she highly doubted it was only one man. No rider was that fit and no girl was that interesting in the furs.

Deciding that the new girl was, in fact, the only one in the room Elra began pulling the shirt she wore. Once untucked from her pants, she pulled it over her head without a second thought to modesty. After all, they were both females and the curtain was closed over the doorway to the common room. Its not like she would be showing anything foreign to the woman.
The curt hello made the smile on Elra’s face faulter even as she set the dirty shirt on the cot next to her. Listening to the girl as she picked up the larger shirt and began unbuttoning the front so she could put it on, she frowned over at her. Elra was normally and easy going person, but that did not mean she enjoyed being rubbed the wrong way.
“No, I have been here since the last clutch.” She said, barely keeping a tinge out of her own reply. Had she said something wrong to the candidate? Surely she had not barged in on anything, the girl hadn’t even been sleeping.
It didn’t dawn on the tall candidate that she might need to give reason why she hadn’t been within the barracks for the last sevenday.

Riella turned away as the girl pulled off her shirt. She really did have no shame. She knew that they were all girls, but it didn’t mean that she wanted to see the other girl’s breasts. She had no tact. She almost rolled her eyes, but then she remembered that she didn’t want to be obvious in her disdain for the girl. Make her realize that she was a pig and loose without having to say it. It was the best way to go about it. Some would say that it was low and a little bratty, but she didn’t care. She wasn’t the one who wasn’t coming home at night and then Standing for a golden egg. How could a girl like that be expected to lead a weyr?
“Really? Are there other quarters for candidates?” The sarcasm threatened to shine through her voice, but if the other girl heard it, Riella doubted she’d be able to be sure that she was actually mocking her. “I thought there were only these.” Okay, so now the sarcasm was quite evident. She wasn’t very good at acting friendly. Oh well, she didn’t like this girl anyway. She really didn’t care if she knew that.
Riella wasn’t one for making quick friends with everyone she ran across. Usually, she just disliked everyone unless they happened to make a good first impression. Sleeping around and acting like it was just fine, nope, not a good first impression.

Pulling the shirt over her shoulders, Elra turned around to give a glare at the much shorter woman as she began to button the shirt.
“No. There are no other quarters.” She said, her words now growing short as the sarcasm struck home to Elra. No, the gold candidate did not take the sarcasm as mocking, but as if it was dripping with distain. The girl had no right to offer judgement off of a first impression. Elra fumed. No, the girl had no right to judge her.
“Just because we are candidates does not mean we are no longer adults. Our choices are our own and we are welcome to take company with others between clutches. I have done nothing wrong. You would do well to remember that.”
The tall candidate was standing to her full five feet and eight inches, glaring down at the newcomer with her hands on her hips. No. Elra was not pleased with this girls attitude toward her. Who would want to live a lonely life anyways?

((Sorry...Riella's kinda brutal)) Riella grinned to herself as Elra replied. Yes, they were both adults. But candidacy was a step towards a career and a life. She was not for casually sleeping around and it wasn’t a way to earn respect anywhere. If Elra wanted to ruin her reputation before she was even a full member of the weyr,
“Oh, don’t worry, I’ll remember that,” she replied, making sure that her sarcasm was very evident. She did not approve of this woman and she would not hide that fact. Sleeping around like that was sleazy and she wasn’t going to pretend that it was okay. She, herself, had goals and she was never going to let some guy or guys get in her way.
Elra was very obviously letting having sex with everyone get in the way of her goals. Riella was almost ashamed to be in the same room as her. Oh well, that was one less good contender for the gold. No gold in her right mind would choose some sharding slut.

(((No worries! ^_^ I hope your enjoying this as much as I am. I love having characters who have someone to clash with. It adds to the drama (and depth of the character…)!!!)))
Elra remained with her hands in fists on her hips as she glared down at the shorter woman a while longer. The sarcasim could be felt in the girl’s voice and it was all Elra could do to keep from lashing out at her. Waging a silent war, she finally turned around letting out a slow breath.
No. She couldn’t let the girl get the better of her. Elra was never one good at self control, and she knew she was on the edge. Ah what she would do for a cup of tea from her sister! It was always the best way to calm down. Pity walking out of the room now would be letting the girl win.
Pulling back the furs of her own bed, the blonde flopped bodily onto the cot and put her hands behind her head. She considered making a point of falling asleep then and there, but the fact that she had not thought to ask the girls name finally struck her. Well might as well ask so she can know who she would be steering away from during lessons.
“So do you have a name?” She said toward the ceiling, not wanting to look at the girl who had so quickly pushed her buttons.

((Sorry this took me so long, my muse decided to take a vacation. Hopefully she's back now... *looks into her muse jar*))
Reilla found that pushing this girl’s buttons was quickly becoming entertaining. This stupid slut of a candidate was easy to rile and she wasn’t good for much else. When Elra decided to begin to ignore her, Riella simply rolled over, trying to stretch her back a bit. Shards, the cot was just so hard. Again, she wished for a more comfortable bed, but she knew that she wouldn’t get one. In her mind, she played the comment over and over again in the most mocking tone her head could muster, ‘I’m just a lowly candidate.’ But, she added, ‘for now.’
Oh, time to talk again. Great. “Yes I do,” she replied, her tone still filled with distaste. How she managed to reply to a civil question that cuttingly was a mystery. Riella was a master as being mean and rude and it was showing through. She wasn’t even going to bother being sarcastic anymore, Elra wasn’t worth the effort. She made no attempt at further conversation; she just wanted this girl too go away. It shamed her that she had to share a room with a whore.

Elra’s eyes narrowed as the girl gave a short reply, a reply that Elra could feel the dislike dripping off of it. Fine. If the girl wanted to be that way about it, the tall blonde would stop trying. Rolling over in her own cot, the gold candidate thanked her talent for falling asleep quickly as she did just that. Within moments she was sleeping peacefully despite the lack of another warm body in her bed.
((Figured I’d wrap this up since they obviously don’t want to get anywhere with eachother. Hehe. Let me know if you want to do another thread. ^_~ I’m more than game in having them run into eachother a few times.))
