Amneris was nervous about meeting with the leaders of the Weyr. Perhaps it was because of how powerful they were but she thought more of it was because of what she and Jeyna had to report. Blue and green riders were valuable members of the Weyr but they were not usually the ones with life and death information. Thread was coming back.
The Weyrs had to practice and double their efforts to find Candidates. They were all the hope that Pern had. Whether the Holders and Crafters believed this now, mattered little. They would believe when they saw Thread with their own eyes and not before that. There hadn't been any hint of Thread for a little over 400 Turns and now this?
A greenrider, like herself shouldn't even be troubling with thoughts like that. It wasn't her responsibility to find the solution or even discuss it. Her duty was only to agree to what Jeyna said and collaborate that the Red Star had indeed been spotted this morning. Amneris wore her riding leathers. Her hair was back and away from her face. She still looked young, though that was to be expected of a sixteen turn old. Amneris glanced over at Jeyna, hoping that the blue rider would do most of the talking.

Jeyna smiled warmly, and she hoped reassuringly, to Amneris. Like the younger, almost graduated, Rider, the Blue Rider wore her Riding Leathers, and looked rather sharp and very professional in them. She would wait on the Weyrleaders to ask for the report, since Ragoth had already given them the basic report - Red Star spotted in the Star Stones.
There was nothing more that Jeyna wanted to do then to reach over and take the younger woman into her arms. She knew how much the Star had shaken her. And she also had an idea that being here in front of the Weyrleaders was not something that the other wanted.
If Jeyna was completely honest, she felt rather smug about the Red Star. After having been denied the right to fully Search at Telgar and having discovered the feeling some of the Holders had towards the Riders, Jeyna felt fully vindicated. That did not meant that she did not fully understand what the ramifications of the Red Star was. She did, but she had been a Rider long enough that she felt similarly to how the Dragons did - Thread was the very reason that they existed.
