The red haired woman laughed as she showed her cards for the final round. She had lost, as usual. To the winner went the spoils and luckily for her the bluerider was a nice man. "Now, Maris you really should take me up on those lessons." At this she raised her light blue eyes. "Oh but your weyrmate might not like me taking lessons from you." She looked away, pretending she was coy.
It was well past when the sun went down so the men began to leave. Marisol decided on a midnight snack. Besides she could go to sleep after so huge a loss. Seryth might have to talk her out of going to Poker next week. Her eyes closed and she sighed. It was quiet at the night hearth. The fire crackled and sputtered giving her a warm feeling.
Fall was upon them and already the air seemed to chill her more than it should. The greenrider was alone, completely and utterly alone. If it was one thing she couldn't handle it was the feeling she got at the end of the day. The feeling that no one really cared for her except her dragon. Self depricating thoughts haunted her when she was alone. It might lead some people into depression but Marisol kept things in perspective and generally the next day she was back to her sunny and exuberant self.

Jeyna had not been able to sleep that night. She could not figure out what the problem was, but she simply had not been able to get any sleep. She had considered going for a run, but it was too dark to go running in the chilly air, so that would have to wait until morning. She had played with Pixie some, but eventually, the puppy had gotten tired out and went to sleep. Ragoth informed Jeyna that he would like to get some sleep as well. With a huff, Jeyna accepted the rebuke from the Blue Dragon and headed down to the Night Hearth.
When she reached the Night Hearth, the Blue Rider poured herself a cup of klah and looked around to see who else might be having a hard time sleeping. She had to admit she was surprised to find Marisol there and alone. Taking a good drink from her cup of klah, she moved over to the Green Rider.
"An eighth for your thoughts?" She sat down beside her, dressed as rakishly as ever - tight shirt of a faded red and tight black pants.

Marisol was so lost in thought that she hadn't noticed the blue rider till she spoke. "Oh! Ummm.... Hi Jeyna. I was just thinking about how being alone is the most awful thing in the world. Why Seryth has to be asleep now I don't know." Of course Marisol usually slept this late at night too.
Her mind had been running so that she couldn't sleep. She had to wind down. "How are you? Oh and Ragoth?" The bluerider looked well and as usual she found her to be the better dressed of the two of them. If she had anything much to show up top, that shirt would be nice.
"You reminded me. I was going to grab a snack. Be back here in a jiffy!" The red head got up as quickly as ever and was over at the table where snacks were laid out for riders. She grabbed a redfruit after perusing them all. "Alright, now tell me what you've been up to. Oh and who was that blonde girl you were dancing with the other night?" Marisol liked to meet new people and would not mind appraoching the young woman at another time.

Jeyna raised an eyebrow slightly at Marisol's expressed thoughts. She was not put off by them, but a little bit surprised. Marisol usually presented herself as happy-go-lucky, and these insights into the deeper part of the Green Rider were never expected, though Jeyna welcomed them. Marisol was a good friend, and both led carefree lives that could occasionally produce loneliness.
When the red-head returned from getting her fruit, Jeyna answered. "Because anyone who can be now, is. Including dragons whose riders are not able to achieve that state for themselves. Ragoth actually kicked me out of the weyr so he could sleep despite my own restlessness." That actually made Jeyna grin. "But we're both fine, even if I can't sleep. He thinks I'm being wherry-brained." She shrugged a bit at that, since he wouldn't even tell her what she was being wherry-brained about!
"That lovely young woman was Amneris." She smiled as she thought of the young weyrling, "A promising weyrling of a lovely Green from next to last hatching. She had been an apprentice Harper when she was Searched, and music is a part of her very being. She has a wonderful voice and plays very well. Her dragon is rather graceful as well, I believe the two will be incredible when they learn to fly together."
"But enough about me. How are you doing, Marisol? I know you must miss your grandmother."

Marisol listened eagerly while biting into the redfruit. The greenrider was sitting crosslegged on the chair, much like a child would. It seemed to her that the blue rider was quite taken with this Weyrling, though Maris would not say a word about it. Jeyna might figure it out for herself soon enough. "She sounds like a great person to befriend. I'd love to know more Harpers, they are such a light hearted bunch for the most part."
Positive thinking was generally her strong point. "Dragons do know us better than we know ourselves it seems." Seryth had warned her not to go out tonight because she wouldn't be able to sleep. She doubted she'd be up late tomorrow at least.
"Yes, well... I was her only granddaughter. R'net and I don't really talk. Of course I've never been a fan of Rankers myself. They are a bit stuck up if you ask me. Aunt Marivern has taken it hard. Father is probably the worst out of all of us. He was always her little boy even when she was too busy for him. Heh. And they think I'm spoiled..." Marisol grinned. She didn't really want to talk about death it only made what she was thinking earlier more scary.

Jeyna nodded when Marisol trailed off. She would not press her friend to talk about what she didn't want to. She did, however, want to make sure she knew that she could talk to her if she needed to. "Marisol, you know that if you ever need to talk, about anything, I'm glad to listen." She smiled to her.
"And I know they do. I just have no clue what he's talking about, and he seems to enjoy not telling me." Of course that was probably because she'd told him that he had been wrong when he did try to tell her.
"I saw that you were with quite a fetching gentlemen yourself the other night. Did you have a good time?"

"Of course I do. " She said but she really hated to talk about family matters with people outside the family. Especially with her Grandmother having a certain reputation and then only her closest friends and family knowing who she truly was. The greenrider understood what Jeyna meant by dragons withholding their full thoughts.
"Seryth does that when she wants me to figure it out on my own though it usually has to do wtih forgetting someong important or relationships." Marisol could only guess that this might have something to do with this blonde Weyrling that had Jeyna smiling just talking about her. Maris did that at times when she really liked someone.
At that the red head beamed, "Oh it was wonderful! L'sander is a Bronzerider. Normally I'm more of a blue and brown rider fan myself but he wasn't being serious or arrogant as Bronzers often are. He's in Zahra so I've no doubt I'll be seeing him again sometime."

Jeyna knew. And she would not press. As long as Marisol knew that if she needed to talk to someone, she was available. The two, in some ways, were kindred spirits, enough that they had been together more than once and were good friends without any expectations. Both enjoyed having fun too much to settle.
"Oh? That's wonderful. Does that mean we'll have some more difficult competition the next time your Seryth flies?" Not that Jeyna minded. After all, competition was part of the fun of Flight.
"And I don't think I've forgotten anything, and I'm happy with all my relationships right now." She shrugged, "Ah well. I'm sure I'll figure it out soon enough." Of course, if Jeyna really thought about all her relationships, she'd realize that she's spending a lot less time with one of her normal partners in her bed, and a lot more time sleeping alone. It was very odd for Jeyna to not realize something like that and take steps to correct it.

The greenrider laughed, "Perhaps. I certainly wouldn't mind many competitors." Marisol usually had a fair few people after her Seryth. It was the red hair she ususally thought though it was more likely because Maris was a fun and free spirited woman. "Blues are more agile than Bronzes so I doubt he'll be as much competition for Ragoth as Ragoth will be for him."
Marisol wondered what sort of hold this girl had on Jeyna as the Blue rider thought all her relationships were settled. Maris didn't recall seeing Jeyna with anyone other than the Weyrling girl. This made her wonder and Maris could be quite the busy body when it came to relationships.
"If you don't figure it out I'm sure Ragoth will tell you eventually. Draconic logic." Seryth certainly had her own share of it. "I am sorry that you aren't able to sleep tonight though. Did you get a good run in today?" Marisol wasn't one for running but she did keep herself in shape.

Jeyna laughed, "This is true. Besides, Ragoth is very good at what he does." She grinned, "I know you'll definitely see us for your next Flight." Though it was not the red-hair, though Jeyna did appreciate it. It was because Marisol was one of her favorite people to be with, though it had been a while since they'd shared a bed.
"I'll be all right. I just found my empty bed to be well... empty tonight. For some reason that bothered me, and I couldn't sleep. And its too late to try for another run." She grinned, "You know me, Marisol. I run every day unless I can't. I thought I was going to go crazy not being able to during the quarantine. But between Ragoth, 'Neris, and Pixie, I was ok."

"I don't know why tonight should be so bent on making people feel alone. At least we have eachother to keep company." Marisol said positively before finishing off her red fruit. The twenty three turn old was well aware that she could invite the bluerider to her own bed but she didn't want to be so foreward so soon. Still she'd not like to be alone tonight either.
Marisol went to throw out the rind of the fruit and was back relatively fast. "You know Jeyna, since we are both quite alone tonight, your welcome to come stay with me." Marisol was not driven by sex alone, as many greenriders were said to be. A lot of the time she just liked having someone there.

Jeyna did not think that of Green Riders at all. She would not have a problem believing that of Blue Riders though! Not with herself as an example. Though she did not push herself on partners, she did have several that she was with on a regular basis.
"Have I ever said no to you, Marisol?" She winked. Even if it was just being together rather than sex, Jeyna enjoyed Marisol's company, almost as much as she enjoyed Amneris'.
"However, hun, I don't want you to feel that we have to do anything, nor that I came here to take advantage of you being lonely." If Marisol wanted to, she wouldn't say no. But she would not force or push herself on her.

Marisol added vainly, "I'm hard to resist..." The greenrider did not realize how much like her own dragon she sounded just then. Seryth would have had a smart comment but luckily the green was snoozing soundly in her weyr. Listening to Jeyna's concern she nearly laughed.
Hiding her amusement at the bluerider's comment she couldn't help but comment. "I'm a big girl, don't worry." That was the truth of it. Marisol was the one who had invited Jeyna and she wasn't one to invite people only because she was lonely. Tonight, she had invited Jeyna because she knew and trusted the bluerider.
"Now, lets see if we can't get some sleep... one way or another." The red head turned away from the night hearth and looked toward the exit and then back at Jeyna.

Jeyna smiled merrily. She knew the redhead, and had only wanted to make sure that she understood that there would be no expectations. At hearing her answer that she was a big girl, Jeyna grinned and nodded, "You are that. Both hard to resist and a grown woman."
When Marisol looked back at her, the Blue Rider moved to her, snaking her arm around her waist, "That, my dear, sounds like a good plan to me." With that, she would gently lead the Green Rider out of the Hall, but would let the other take over leading when they reached Zahra's halls, not that Jeyna did not know her way around.

Marisol smiled as Jeyna's arm came around her waist. That was nice. The greenrider had no qualms whatsoever of sleeping with someone she liked and while the Weyrbred girl might think it normal, most of Pern looked down on such behaviors, especially in women.
Zahra was not quiet tonight, of course when was it ever quiet. You could here the shouts of men who were still up, getting into some sort of mischief or other. There was no help for it. Marisol was luckily towards the end of this wing's weyrs, and therefore had less noise surrounding her.
"Here we are." The greenrider swung open her door and let the contained chaos that was her weyr enter view. She decorated in a way that was no where near fashionable. Her furniture was mainly antiques and well used things. Her color pallet was vibrant, almost as much as her personality was. There was a bit of a mess left on the table near the door. It was a rare day that she made her bed, in fact she generally just threw the covers over top so she didn't have to worry about visitors.
To the left, Seryth lay sleeping blissfully unaware that anyone else was there. Marisol walked in lit a few glows and walked towards her dresser. She really didn't want to wear her leathers any longer.
