Aldean (3) son of Deania (laundry drudge)
Appearance: A’stin has light brown hair, with dark perfectly arching eyebrows that always look well groomed. His eyes are a beautiful hazel, with long dark eyelashes. He has cheekbones to die for and a cute enough nose to go with them. His lips are sensuous, for which he blames his mother. He has a beauty mark next to his left eye. He has smallish ears and very little facial hair. (Every so often he grows a goatee)
Tall enough, A’stin stands at a good height of 6’2’. He looks less suited for dragonriding than is true. He may be a pretty face but he hates relying on them to get him anything. He has worked hard for his physique that like many dragonriders is very pleasant to look on. He prides himself especially on his upper body, mostly his abdominal and back muscles. He prefers to wear his leathers than other clothes and has several well kept pairs. A couple of them are a chocolate brown color, some burgundy and the others are either black or faded from use.
As he prefers to wear warmer tones as he has ivory skin and light brown hair. His skin tone responds more favorably to earthy browns, warm reds and deep blues. A’stin dresses as if everyday he needed to look the part of a Bronzerider. He likes to look well groomed and prefers that people see him at his best. First impressions were often the only impression someone would get, best that they remember you as the handsome Bronzerider who takes good care of himself. (Of course some people call him a pretty boy, but to fall with them…)

Personality:
After being raised by the most despicable manner of people imaginable, A’stin did not turn out to be the perfect person that everyone expects him to be. On the one side he is charismatic, charming, handsome and witty. On the other, he is arrogant, hard to please, argumentative and complicated. He despises poker and other frivolous activities that involve deceit and divulging in lewdness. He can be jealous of men who are interested in the same woman he is. The Bronzerider will never admit it as he sees this as a kind of insecurity.
After being in the Weyr for a few turns he became used to Weyr patterns of courtship. Though he acts more like a Weyrbred man in the number of relations he has had, he differs in that he treats these women like Ladies. Though he has had a few short affairs with Lower Caverns women he much prefers Gold Riders. The very thing that makes them the riders of their magnificent dragons is what draws him to them. They are challenging, irrational, powerful, gorgeous and of course the best of the Weyr. He can't help but want to pursue them.
While he has several children, he isn't a great father. His children do not get on his nerves but he isn't one to care much for other peoples children. In fact kids really are a sore subject with him most of the time.
A’stin would rather be active than sit and study. Its not that he doesn’t like work, its that he can’t sit still that long. He has an itch to be moving at all times and seems to have nervous energy when he doesn’t get out all this pent up energy. He also prefers to be outside than the closed in, cavernous corridors of the Weyr.
He is above all an aristocrat. He knows what to say and when to say it. A’stin knows when not to divulge information and is often trustworthy. He does serve himself first. If you tell him something questionable and he can use the information to his advantage he will. There is nothing dishonorable in his truest nature but the world changes people and he grew up in a less than moral home. He needs no one and has problems becoming attached to people. It is becoming apparent to him that he is very prolific. (Not that he can figure out why…)
He would rather dance than sing. He is an excellent dancer and an unskilled singer. He likes to swim and ride runners. No contest would be a contest without him. A’stin thrives on competition. As a Bronzerider he believes himself to be the smartest, fastest, strongest of all in the Weyr and his dragon agrees with him fervently. A’stin is anything but the aristocrat he pretends to be. He has a wilder spirit and a mean side he only shows to his dragon. In fact he can be downright cruel inside his own mind. The point there being he can think whatever he wants so long as he doesn’t speak it or act on it.
History: Astarlin was the last son of a Minor Holder and second to last child born to the man and his wife. They lived in Keroon and were a fairly wealthy family though not as wealthy as the Lord Holder's family. His childhood was anything but uneventful. He learned that beauty was only skin deep from his mother. A woman who while very beautiful had no real love for anyone but herself.
His father, a man with his own priorities was not the least bit loyal to his mother, often not caring if anyone knew of his latest conquest before booting her out of the Hold. His brothers and sisters had their own troubles. His eldest brother became addicted to gambling much like his father though the family still managed to tithe and pay the Lord Holder properly so such issues were ignored.
Growing up he was taught by tutors as his father was related to the Lord Holder in some way or other. This seemed to be the case for most minor Holders. They were related to the higher ups and thats how they got their position. As such Astarlin learned long before most that connections will get you anywhere, along with a charming smile and an eloquent speech.
He charmed almost his entire family. They all believed he was perfect because he told them he was. He could have practically anything his heart desired. Luckily, he wasn't as narcissistic as his parents believed. He was constantly trying to better himself for the day he might become his father's heir despite having two older brothers.
As a teenager Astarlin was unsettled. He seemed to have been brought up the only one with common sense besides his younger sister who also seemed to have sense but she was also the ugly duckling of their family. Everyone else having been blessed with his mother's beauty, including himself.
His father began to think Astarlin was after the his position so badly that the youth might kill him. The man became paranoid to the point where he wouldn't allow Astarlin in the same room or even eat before him. He became more greedy as well. He had more women than ever before and began to gamble nightly.
When the Bronzerider and his search party descended upon the Hold it was Astarlin who greeted them. Sadly when his fatehr came up, huffing that he had not greeted them first, Astarlin was pushed behind the increasingly fatter man. Two greenriders were conversing quietly while the Minor Holder spoke with the Bronzerider. The greenriders were joined by a blue rider and soon the Bronzer paused.
"Sir, we are on Search and by the command of your Lord Holder we may take any but your heir to the Weyr with us. " the Bronzerider had a gleam in his eye as Astarlin's father protested. "Come it isn't that bad. We only want one of your children."
"Which one?" The man was absolutely disgusted that they would want any of his children. He hated Riders almost as much as he hated not being in control. "That one." the Bronzer pointed behind him. It was Astarlin. The youth watched as his father's mouth curled into a rather demonic smile. "Take him. I've wanted him out of my hair for some time now. Go son. Your mother will want you to strive to be the best you can." He was keeping himself from laughing. His pain in the side son was going to ride one of those parasites. HAH!
Astarlin went willingly. He didn't need his home anymore than he needed to be loved or cared for. He was perfectly capable of dealing with these riders. Smiling sincerely, he got on a blue dragon and waited.
When he arrived at the Weyr, he was immediately settled into the Candidate Barracks though he did not stay there much longer than a few minutes before humming began. If he were Weyrbred or had even had time to explore the Weyr he would have known what to do and where to go. As it was, he just watched what the other Candidates were doing and followed them to the Hatching Sands.
The only Bronze of the clutch shattered his shell with force, so much so that shards went flying and knocked a few boys down. The Bronze, while more clumsy than his clutch mates was much more powerful. Everyone in the room went silent and then suddenly got loud for the Bronze. He seemed to only take moment before resting his eyes on those of Astarlin. The Bronze dragonet met the boys eyes and instantly their lives were changed. A'stin, I am Rodreth. Pleasure to meet you. Shards you must be famished. Even I’m getting hunger pangs. That I am, A'stin. I believe if we follow those few, that way…
As the only Bronze in his class, Rodreth excelled. They were leaders and even A'stin began to appareciate what that meant at the Weyr. He continued to do well, considering his education surpassed even most Weyrbred Weyrlings. He was strategically inclined though he also understod the importance of remining fit. That being his weak point he worked on it harder until his physique was that of a dragonrider.
After two turns they graduated on the fast track to success. Borrego Wing suited them fine though they began to be bored with simply doing drills. They made Wingthird when Rodreth was six. In the meantime, A'stin began sleeping with women. Not all the time but when an especially pretty young woman caught his eye, he saw no problem with a short lived affair.
After a few turns of these he realized how prolific he was. He decided it would be best if he slowed down a bit. When A'stin was twenty three he began flirting witht he Junior Weyrwoman. The flirtations were nothing more than that for a couple of turns. When she was distraught over that Fort Bronzer, A'stin did his best to take her mind off of things. In fact their flirtations moved on to kissing and eventually sleeping together. So when Jenafa had an open flight, A'stin adn Rodreth won. About half a Turn after, they decided to part ways though it mattered little to A'stin, he had fallen under the spell of the most beautiful woman alive, Shaye.
The woman had a cruel/ cold demeanor and turned away the attentions of the Bronze riders as quickly as she used them to work for her. He envied every last one of them. Rodreth was the best Bronze and he was the best Bronzerider and they would prove it. He was promoted to wingsecond later that Turn and was certain that the Senior Queen would notice them more.
As much as he tried to woo her, she resisted. Everything he did and said was wrong. While he continued to have short term affairs he realized they were no longer as satisfying. No one compared to a Goldrider. He wanted only she that was ignoring him. Instead of giving up on her, he continued to try to gain her attentions. He worked out longer and harder than before and even spent candlemarks mulling over old records. Strategy was a strong point of his so that when he was promoted to Wingleader at age 29, it was no great shock. He was a very young Wingleader and it seemed to him that maybe she would notice him more now.
At the age of thirty, A'stin flew Shaye. He had not wanted a woman so badly or for so long before. He almost confused this feeling with love at times. She was still demanding and hard to live with because she was paranoid. He and Rodreth did well in the Weyrleadership for being young. He took on the responsibility, one he had never truly wanted except for the fact that he wanted the Senior Weyrwoman. Now that he had the position he realized time was tight and he saw her less than he wanted to. After that first turn had flown by, A'stin was certain Shaye would not let him fly her again.
A'stin had give up other women, except for one and it was generally a flirtation. Jenafa. Yes, he liked both Gold riders. He couldn't help it. After Shaye would put him down and be cold and cruel to him to a point where he wasn't sure she even wanted to be with him, A'stin would be depressed and unable to be his confident and aloof self. Jen would somehow cross his path. She was a very persuasive woman and he didn't mind being with her at times though he was sure Shaye would if she found out. It didn't erase the fact that were Shaye and Jenafa standing next to eachother and he had to choose, he would choose Shaye. Not because of her beauty, for both women were beautiful but because SHaye had long ago taken his heart. A heart he tried never to aknowledge having.
The illness did not affect Igen as badly as other parts of Pern. They lost mostly dragonriders and Candidates. Much to he and Shaye's dissapointment. Igen is already a small WEyr number wise and now the illness has made it more so. His second term as Weyrleader has just begun and judging by the records, A'stin fears that the calculations of Thread not coming back again are wrong. He's concerned and overly so that Thread could appear at any time. With their Weyr understrengthed, A'stin fears the worst but will say none of this to his already paranoid Weyrmate.
When it came time for Lyranth's flight (1055), Rodreth won. Shortly after, however, Shaye became more paranoid than usual. The pair fought more than got along and in the end, A'stin was growing tired of trying to please her all the time. It wasn't that he didn't care it was that he could only reassure her so much. When Lyranth finally went to clutch on the Hatching Sands, things went from bad to worse. Lyranth died and Shaye suicided.
A'stin grieved alone for a month or so before he began filling his emptiness with company. The lonliness didn't affect him as much if he kept busy but on occassion he found his empty bed too much to bear and went looking for the company of a beautiful woman or two.

Dragon Info:
Name: Rodreth
Age: 15
Color: Bronze
Appearance: The Bronze is large for one at Igen. His hide isn’t coppery or especially light nor dark. His coloring is the perfect bronze. That is to say, if one saw his hide color outside of context, one would call it bronze. He has a perfectly proportioned wing span. If anything other Bronzes ought to be compared to him to determine whether they are large or small, light or dark. He has dark brown claws and calculating eyes that always seem to be watching you. All in all he is intimidating.
Personality: Witty and charismatic, he puts to mind a prince charming figure. He treats Queens with respect and uses the best words on them. Greens he also takes time to flirt with but never unless he is completely serious about giving them chase. He likes to have a good reputation and tends to keep those around him happy. They see him as an aristocratic dragon much like his rider. He is perfect and charming on the outside but inside there is another part of him that would say the worst things about people he was just pleasant to.
History:
The only Bronze in his clutch Rodreth was not surprised that he was so welcomed into the Sands. The shouting, clapping and the Candidates. He saw the fear at his size. Why shouldn’t they fear him, he was greater than any of them could dream of becoming. Any except… now where was that feeling coming from? The confidence, the arrogant surety that he would impress… yes. That one. The Bronze dragonet met the boys eyes and instantly their lives were changed. A'stin, I am Rodreth. Pleasure to meet you. Shards you must be famished. Even I’m getting hunger pangs. That I am, A'stin. I believe if we follow those few, that way…
He then attended Weyrling training as leader of his class. After two turns he graduated and joined Borrego wing. By age six he made Wing third a few turns later he was promoted to Wingsecond and two turnss ago he was promoted to Wingleader. He believes all of this to have happened because he truly is the best of the Bronzes that Igen has to offer.
He remembers that he caught Saharth five turns ago and Lyranth the past two times she has flown. Lyranth and Saharth are Golds worth serving in his eyes. While Lyranth gets more of his attention he will at times flirt with Saharth. He prefers to lavish attention on his mate though as he feels an urge to protect and guard her. When Lyranth died, he of course felt a loss but as his rider strives to move on, so does he.
Clutch: 50th clutch of Gold Leerath by Bronze Ulneth
Hatching Order: 1st
Wing: Borrego Wing
