Undarum Weyr
In a timeline where the Weyrs never went ahead, there was never a Lessa of Benden, and AVIAS still lies undiscovered in the south, Pern is still governed by the same traditions that have served it well for centuries. Around the middle of the 12th Interval, new dragon colors began appearing on the sands. It started with the fiery Coppers, but soon there were black, pyrite, silver, and white dragons joining the ranks of Pern’s great defenders. These new dragons appeared for seemingly no reason, though they seemed to originate from High Reaches hatched queens and bronzes. Bewildered, the dragonriders of Pern struggled to fit these newcomers into their ranks. Eventually, they were accepted as normal and life went on as before.
Now at the very beginning of the 13th pass, Fort and High reaches Weyrs have been dissolved and joined together to form Undarum after a series of earthquakes damaged the ancient Weyrs beyond repair. The earthquakes damaged both the Harper Hall and Fort Hold, and so both establishments followed after their protectors. Undarum Hold was established on the coast, a two day journey from the new Weyr and the Harper Hall was re-established inside the new Weyr.
Undarum, in its 20th turn of existence, has fallen on rather dim times. The elderly queens that once kept the Weyr supplied with new generations have all died off, leaving only one rather eccentric Junior Weyrwoman behind. The rider of a forgetful and rather…dim queen, and considered by most of the Weyr to be ill fit to lead, Rhias assured Undarum that she’d be happy to step down if another queen were to come forward. Unfortunately, none of the other Weyrs volunteered one and thus Undarum looked to Fizanuth’s first flight to supply them with future leaders to replace the skill-less one in office.
When Fizanuth rose, it was a disaster. The forgetful gold did not heed her rider’s orders to not gorge her meals and thus her flight was short and pitiful. Regardless, she had been caught and Undarum had a new Weyrleader. N’uan took his position quite seriously and in short order, Undarum had fallen back into line, glad to be united once more under the thumb of someone capable. This new order lasted scarecely a month. N’uan and his bronze fell in threadfall and Undarum has been left with only a heavily pregnant queen and her clueless rider.
While Undarum struggles to maintain fighting strength, thread has begun to fall wildly out of pattern, sometimes twice daily, all over Pern. The Weyrs of Pern are doing their best to cope with the strengthened menace but with three decades of thread left in the Pass, they can only look to their queens for reinforcements and hope that the skies return to normal soon.
Welcome to Undarum Weyr! We have a rewarding marks system, both canon and uncanon colors, and plenty of room for growth! Come join the founding members of Undarum in carving out a niche for ourselves. We are currently a brand new Weyr! What this means is that there are plenty of positions available. We are looking for:
* Candidates! Boys are in high demand but girls are welcome too! * Bronzerider applications! With the upcoming queen flight you could even become Weyrleader! * Brown, blue, and green riders! We also have limited uncanon slots available! * A candidatemaster, weyrlingmaster, and assistant weyrlingmasters!
We pride ourselves on being a very laid-back community, though we are very few in number at the moment. Our goal is to provide you a stress-free RPing environment where you don’t feel pressured to RP, but actually want to. Where you can develop both your characters and your own abilities as a writer.
Cyadon: Fourth Planet, New Beginning « Result #3 on Nov 8, 2009, 6:24pm »
With Thread long gone from the skies of Pern, the dragons are forced to come up with other ways of occupying themselves. When all of Pern has been explored, the Weyrs can support themselves without the need of tithes or charity from the Holds or Crafts, when dragons languished with naught to do, the riders of Pern looked once again to the Past, to an idea had by one of the most famous Weyrleaders of Pern, F’lar of bronze Mnementh. They looked once more to the sky.
An alternate-universe, post-AIVAS Pern RPG, Cyadon takes place on the fourth planet in Rukbat’s system, a planet made tropical by the manageable greenhouse effect that developed. The Pernese have long settled on the planet and established a fairly diverse population. The new creatures on this planet have been mostly discovered and utilized, and the Weyrs have spread out and settled in. But despite the scene of peace on this wooded, tropical planet, there is a growing undertone of unrest....

Gather! Gather! It’s a gather day!
No work for us, and Thread’s away. Stalls are building, square’s swept clear, Gather all from far and near. Bring your marks and bring your wares, Bring your family for there’s Food and drink and fun and song. The Hold flag flies; so gather along!
It's been a while since Pern held a Gather. Threadfall and plague have both made it impossible. But now...Now! We hold a Gather, our first but not our last. The Hold, Halls, and Weyr have given their best. I have seen Riders come and go from Solace. Bringing along weyrfolk and craftsmen alike to the Gather grounds. It brings joy to any to feel such high spirits and see a constant smile. Others are appearing as well, those from the North and South. All are welcome to attend the festivities, some of Solace's Riders even volunteered to bring those who are unable to find a Rider from their own Weyr to bring them over... I am proud of my Weyr and those who live in it.
The days are warming, spring is here. And soon! We will have another clutch on the sands. Not only are the Riders of the Weyr going about to bring guests, but also to see for potential Candidates. Our numbers are growing, the same can be said for the North and South. Queens are rising, eggs are hatching. It's a perfect time to be alive! Rumors are being heard within the walls of the all the Weyrs. It seems that the Games are to be held in the coming months! Yes, Pern is thriving and it's impossible to believe that the days hold nothing but excitement and joy.
Welcome to Solace
Located on the Western continent and it's island chain, the Weyr known as Solace is open for all who wish to join. Set in the late 6th pass of an alternate Pern, Solace hosts new colors in all of the draconic kind. New species and new areas to explore. Solace is officially open to the public! Come by and have a look. Solace is a laid back forum, though there are big plots there isn't a rush to move them along. We are a “Semi to Advanced/Literate” forum, with many positions open for immediate creation. What we also have to offer:
.:Thanksgiving Gather- Solace holding her first Gather! Food, drink, fun, and drama. Relations build, break, or strengthen. All the fun of a Gather for those of the Weyr, Hold, and Halls. .:Future Hatchings- Crimson Sara is due to lay her clutch and all are welcome to try out for a flitt. You know how those silly things are. They have a mind of their own....you may walk away with more than one. Not only are their flitt eggs about, but there is to be a clutched laid sometime this month. That means a Hatching is on it's way! Yes, scheduled for December we will be holding a Hatching, the first of our Crimson Arieath, the first Crimson to rise in the Weyr. :.
.:Needed Characters- Our forum is always looking for Candidates be they for Dragon or Wher. At this moment we are in need of Dragon Candidates. Not only that but Crafters to fill in the roles that are vital to Pern's way of life. Such positions as Master Crafter, Master Wherhandler are open. Even the position of Wherlingmaster. :.
.: Member interaction - A forum is nothing without it's Members. Come and have the chance to give your opinion on Solace freely. To pick who will be the next for the Month's spotlights. Not enough? How about having the option of picking or creating the next contest for the site! Better yet, having a say on what you would think may bring some new excitement to the Weyr. :.
.: Loose limitation - Every RP forum has rules, be they for the site itself. On character creation, race, etc. But do not let that intimidate you. Solace is rated “PG-13”, we understand that some characters are right down nasty, or insanely sweet. Some characters are murders while others have a hero complex. Bring them to Solace! Anything goes, and we mean it. :.

He came in the dead of the night, at the peak of the witching hour... and he took it all.
SHAMAN is turmoil. Aura has been overthrown and her powers dissolved; a new fairy stands in her place, claiming to be the god of all. The laws against rape and murder have been repealed. Anneliese, the light in the skies, is nowhere to be found.
The world of SHAMAN as we know it is no more. Who will rise above the other in this bitter rivalry? Will Mallos remain in control and ensue havoc – or will Aura recover her powers and find the strength to fight back?
What happens when the most powerful fairy in SHAMAN is tricked? That's for you to find out.
A plague is what caused everything. It lasted only two and half short Turns, and still nearly killed all life on Pern. Or all life that stood between humanity and utter annihilation.
The Holds were untouched; only the Weyrs suffered loss. Dragons started coughing and riders started to weaken and tire easily. The riders, remembering history, remembering and fearing, quarantined themselves, breaking all contact with the Holds to prevent the spread. At least the people would continue existing, new Candidates would stand ready to replenish the Weyrs once the threat had passed. They would overcome and triumph.
And then the dragons began dying in their sleep and the riders followed after. To the horror of all, Queens were affected the most severely, dying the fastest, especially those close to clutching. Despair ran rampant; without their Queens, the dragons had no hope of continuation. There would be none to replace those already lost.
When it was almost too late, the remaining riders whom the plague had not yet infected set out and found a lonely Weyr far from the sickness, neither in the North nor the South. The sick were left to die; there was no way to stop this invisible menace, to prevent the inevitable. Only a handful had hope; a pair of grown Queens, seven bronzes, eleven browns, twenty-four blues, and forty greens, plus a weyrling Queen, hatched just before the plague struck, the last of her siblings to survive the onslaught. The last real hope for Pern's survival.
While the riders waited for the inevitable to happen, for the sickness to run out of flesh to feed on, they lasted through harsh winters and blazing summers. For two Turns, they waited, their despair growing. Thread was due to return in the next Turn or two; would they be safe to leave their haven when it did? Finally, the remaining dragons stopped keening for lost brethren, for there was none left to keen for. The plague had finally claimed the last life it had access to and now laid dormant, unable to infect anything else. Those left could return home.
Yet, the only thing left of what once had been were the empty Weyrs and a few bodies that had yet to be devoured by wild animals. The sickness could then only be contracted by touching the dead with bare flesh; too cautious and too fearful, the last riders did the only thing they could do -- burn the bodies where they lay and scatter the ashes between, where the fatal disease would be lost forevermore.
The riders spread out, forming three new Weyrs. One of the adult Queens took to the North, taking with her two bronzes, five of the browns, nine blues, and fourteen greens. Some stayed at the only home they had had for the past two Turns, the haven-Weyr, Sinowa. Here the weyrling Queen, now in her second Turn, took up the mantle of Senior Queen, keeping with her three bronzes, three browns, four blues and four greens. The last Queen, old and egg-heavy for the last time led her fair down to the warmth of the Southern Continent, too tired to deal with more cold and harshness. In their hearts the dragons and riders carried the memory of those lost, and in their blood they carried the vaccine that the Weyr Healers had dedicated most of their time in solitude creating. Even if the plague had escaped complete eradication, it would never again harm Pern's defenders. Nothing of its menace would ever again threaten the future of the planet...
...No one ever stopped to consider the side-effects.
